Like it says, the vanilla world boss blue dragon in the exiled lands is literally 1 shot killing me, goes completely through my guard as if im not guarding at all. with it’s headbutt. i have full heavy vanir armor, use a mace and shield both items legendary, 400 health at ful health and the blue dragon head butts me, doesn’t even notice i have my shield up and wipes me out… my grit is lvl 20 i have both defensive posture AND shield master… how is this at all possible? the mods i have on my server are:
-Barbarian Barber
Lesser building placement restrictions
ModControlPanel (which i was made to download for one of the other requested mods)
AND
Armor and Weapon Stats in Bench
how the hell is a headbutt going through all my armor and defenses/blocking and doing 400+ damage to me in the basically near full vanilla game???
how does this seem legit??? a basic attack going through a shield block while having full stamina? did you even read my comment? if so read it again before you comment. it is not epic armor though i am an advanced enough player to know this GLITCH is broken
Nah, doesn’t sound like a glitch. Just sounds like low amor value. Dragons are meant to hit like a truck. Go armor up and try again. If it’s the same then yeah, might be a bug.
what part of being an advanced player did you not understand? this is not my first time playing this game this IS a glitch. stop commenting when you do not have the knowledge required to benefit a solution
I don’t recall the particulars but there is a bug with one of the end grit perks, shield master sounds like the one but I can’t swear to it and not in game to check ATM, that causes certain incoming attacks from certain mobs and great axes to do vastly more damage then they should. Seems likely that’s what you’re seeing.
There is a very serious difference in protections between the mundane heavy armors (craftable prior to level 60), and the epic armors (craftable post level 60).
The dragons do hit like trucks. The Red Mother and I think the frost dragon (the blue one you are describing) will flatten anyone who does not have 20 points in vitality (700 or better health) and epic tier armor.
Debatably, if you are an “advanced player” as you describe, you would know that running with 20 vitality (700+ health) is a must.
Also - @Raeil might have pinned it properly that there’s something wrong with the shield block, and that may be what is hurting you. Regardless - what are you doing trying to shield block a dragon?! Roll, and GTFO out of the way.
i tried the red mother once, with 20 vit and no thralls, tried blocking, tried rolling, theres just no way i could do it. even if i blocked/rolled continuously id never get any attacks off and it still whittled me down to 0.
You have to time it. And it is usually best to roll to the side. I roll to the left.
Alternatively, you can also run obliquely to her when she is preparing an attack. Many of the world boss mobs have their own version of q-lock that allows them to stay oriented on you. Even while you are running. But at the moment they start the attack animation, they lose the q-lock, and commit into the direction that they are facing.
If timed right - even if the world boss is going to “collide” with your character - an appropriately timed roll should allow you to avoid taking damage. Though - it won’t always save you from the stun / stumble effect that gets applied to you. You may have to sit there for 10 seconds while your character dusts himself/herself off with the boss looking at you.
The roll has to be timed right. I don’t know what this “feels like” in Single Player. I imagine it’s pretty real time. But you have to remember that if you have latency to the game server you are playing on … you might have to make adjustments, and roll a little bit earlier than you would normally roll. This has to do with 1) what you see on your game client, versus 2) what is happening on the game server. If you roll just a bit early, you’ll actually execute the timing correctly. And you should avoid damage.
Alternatively, bring a friend. Or a thrall. And figure in your hits when she’s mad at someone other than you. Thralls make excellent distractions. Though, be careful not to let them DBNO while you are fighting a boss. If a boss or a mob scores a DBNO strike on your thrall, they will GTFO and heal up.
Only way ive been able to do those dragons is get warparty and put massive amounts of armour on my thralls, while i plink plink from safety with a bow. Its a little boring and that setup doesnt work well in dungeons when thralls like to go walkabout and leave me alone. Ill try the timing idea when/if i play again.
The white dragon does 355 damage with all of its attacks with 15% armor penetration and the headbutts are unblockable attacks.
Assuming you have around 600 armor with that setup that would hit you for about ~188 damage
Raeil is also correct, there was some bug with shield master… I investigated it a bit at some point but didn’t spot the exact cause in that short time, just some clues… might look at it further when I get a chance thou.
The jest of it is that if you have shield master, under certain conditions it’s possible that you get the 4x increased penalty (which should be applied to your stamina drain) also applied to the actual health damage you take, so instead of reducing the damage, it amplifies it. Most likely this is what’s triggering off the unblockable attacks of the dragon.
