World Bosses: collated data 2.0

Work in progress, please let me know if you find a mistake or can add information, especially loot and missing spawn point coords.

WB rotation and locations: second post below

World Boss Essentials:

Each month starting at the first wednesday for one week word bosses spawn, always the same boss in the same zones at the same spots on a yearely rotation (exeption: in december it is starting in the third week of the month).

Fast Guide:

Have at least one free slot in your quest journal, fight it, every first kill of the monthly new boss updates your quest and gives you a world boss token („Portend Relic“), quest reward for 12 fresh monthly boss kills is the best cloak in the game for almost every class, every kill of any WB (same kind of boss counts, too) gives a box as reward (rare with chances for epic).

The quest is repeteable!

Cloaks:

Which Cloak should be my first pick?

  • DT: Infernal Mantle of the Living Legend

  • Guard: Dragon Scale Mantle of the Living Legend (T4 cloak is best though)

  • Conq: Dragon Scale Mantle of the Living Legend (tank, T4 cloak is best though), Conversant Mantle of the Living Legend (DPS)

  • POM: Star touched Mantle of the Living Legend

  • BS: Beast Hunter’s Mantle of the Living Legend

  • TOS: Star touched Mantle of the Living Legend

  • BARB: Terminator’s Mantle of the Living Legend

  • SIN: Slayer’s Mantle of the Living Legend

  • RANGER: Slayer’s Mantle of the Living Legend

  • DEMO: Demon Mantle of the Living Legend

  • NECRO: Demon Mantle of the Living Legend

  • HOX: Ash Mantle of the Living Legend is the obvious one, but Demon Mantle of the Living Legend has more magic damage, and thta is what a 2026 HOX wants!

How to successfully fight a WB, get quest update and reward:

No need to group or be in a raid. No specific level needed, as long as you can get to them you can participate. Don’t start the fight randomly (unless you want a quick death), wait for enough people to show up and a tank to pull. If you are a tank and confident to be able to tank it, pull it. Particles set on „myself“ can help with performance, particles set on „all“ can help to see a mechanic the boss might have. Some have them, some are just pinatas.

Next part here might be not correct – I never cared about what exactely makes me get the kill / quest update / loot, because I am Team We.really.fight.it.and.do.not.afk and do not really care much about the AFK-Crowd. But, here we go:

After a minute or so hitting the WB, you will get a buff above your name in the lower left corner of your screen, a grey-ish icon with a dragon head. This indicates you are on the aggro table of the boss = eligilbe for kill / quest update / loot. Safest way is to be in a 75 m range of the boss, but it seems you get everything as long as you are in the same instance.

After a kill you will also get a buff on the upper left edge of the screen, it will stay until your next new monthly boss kill and just indicates the boss you killed.

Quest:

Aquilonia - Old Tarantia - “The Twelve Portents”
You get the quest automatically when you kill your first world boss, if you have at least on free slot in your quest journal. You can also get it, and turn it in, at The Astromancer located on the stairs to the library in Old Tarantia (846 | 481). Every first kill oft a new monthly WB will advance the quest, further kills of the same boss that month will not. You do not need to kill them in monthly order, you can skip bosses, the quests just updates with every first kill of any new month. You can repeat the quest, but because it takes so long to finish it, choose your first cloak wisely.

How to find a World Boss

They each spawn only on known locations. Every WB has special NPCs, Summoner XYZ, that spawn first, some minutes later the WB will spawn. If you are scouting for a WB, the NPCs are the ones you are actually looking for. If a WB is roaming freely and untouched that usually means there are not enough people (yet) to successfully fight him, or it spawned in a location the community deems as unpopular. As the WBs have different spawn locations in the same playfield, or different playfields, some are more popular.

Usually people are shouting out new spawns in global. Participate and help out if you have news.

Instances:

Once the X. players enters a playfield with only one instance, a second one will open up, and so on. During WB Week most of the times there are multiple insatnces of this playfield. Often times people shout out in global which ones have an approaching or active WB, just go to a resurrection point, open your instance panel (I think the yellow triangle next to your mini map upper right corner opens it in vanilla gui), click on the instance you want to join. If that one is full, the system might crash your game, give you an epic loading screen, or just let’s you stay in your current instance. If the later is the case, you can just keep repeating to try to switch into the dedired instance, sometimes people in it crash or log out, and that opens up a spot.

Pro Tip: To cover the spots where they can spawn group up, the group leader stays at a resurrection point, the group members move each to a spawning position and look if they see NPC’s indicating the WB will spawn. If they see none, the group leader switches instance. That gives each group member a pop up window for an instance switch. This works even when they are not in reach of a resurrection point. That way a group can switch instances together and cover all possible spots.

If you track spawns in different instances, you will most likely see a pattern. They are on a timer in each instance, ranging from 30-50 minutes (or so). So most of the times global can predict where the next one is most likely to spawn. That is the reason why it is beneficial to shout out WB kills in global, so the mind hive has more data to predict the current pattern.

Loot Boxes:

Each kill gives a rare box, with the chance of an epic box: “Hunter’s Trove of the [insert WB name]”. I am not quite sure about the loot, and will update as we go (feel free to send me a message).
All loot is bop.

  • Epic (necklaces, rings and weapons) Items like T3 stats, but unique to WB

  • WB specific epic pet, named after and looking like the WB itself

  • Race Folk Dancer Pets

  • T1 and T2 gear and weapons

  • Race Cultural Social Gear Sets

  • various potions

  • T3 rare relics

  • ….???

Portent Relics

You can spend them only at Moralia Vayne – Keeper of the Portent Relics, in Old Tarantia on the bottom of the stairs to the library (847 | 488).

  • 13 WB epic pet (same as the drop from the reward boxes, 11 current WB pets and 2 of the two bosses that got replaced in 2025, Banshee Queen and Serpent Man Oldblood), 4 portent relics + 5 gold

  • 1 legendary WB pet that can not drop afaik (?), 8 portent relics + 10 gold

Pro Tip: If you want to buy a pet, choose the one from the last WB, you will have 11 month of chances to get the next ones as a drop; or one that does not drop at all anymore (Banshee Queen and Serpent Man Oldblood) If you plan on farming the Arena, the best choice is the Dragon (legendary).

  • Slayer’s Cache of the Portents, epic box with (chances of dropping?) epic items (?)

Achievements related to WB:

Raid Master – Vanquisher – All 12 current World Bosses

Avocation – Collection – Pets – Collector of Portents – 13 epic WB pets, 1 legendary WB pet (You can buy all of them at Moralia Vayne for Portent Relics, or wait for them to drop for you.)

Avocation – Collection – Pets – Dance Troupe – 8 Race Folk Dancers (rare pet)

Pro Tip: Check out Johara’s Achievement Collection for missing pets/kills:

Atzel’s Approach

Conal’s Valley

February: The Obsidian Basilisk

Northern Grasslands (NG)

Chosain Province (CP)

??? coords?

Pro Tip: For this WB, healers with Steadfast Faith AA (silver) perk, to remove the Obsidian Gaze petrify effect (a Ruin effect) will be much appreciated. Speeds up the battle; otherwise your tanks can be petrified and then auto-killed with a ground slam. Remember, this perk needs to be slotted on the perk-bar, not just bought.

Summoner: ???

March: The Dust Fiend (replaced Serpent Man Oldblood in 2015)

Dragon Spine, Stygia, purchased zone, LVL 80

(900 | 648), centre of the map, south of the T5 entrance “Otherworldly Junction”/Palace of Cetriss

Casts:

  • Swirling Sand: Spawns two large, firery circles that knock back toons it touches and do minor slashing damage
  • Sandstorm: puts a 15 second debuff on everyone attacking him (+50% Miss Chance, +0.5 Fizzle Chance, 202-303 points of slashing damage on target every 2 seconds)

Pro Tip: If someone pulls the Dust Fiend out of the yard, across the res pad to exactely to a certain position (1106 | 873) on the „road“, let him, but make sure you attacked the boss to get your buff. On that specific spot a sand worm can kill the boss one shotting him.

Pro Tip: The nearest rezpad is the “Cannibal Camp” pad, at 590, 220). If you don’t have the Secluded Cove rezpad, up from the bay with the boss croc, it’s worth getting. Depending upon how far the WB is roaming around you can die and end up there instead of the Cannibal pad. If you don’t have the Cove pad, you can get sent back to the rowboat start pad, which makes it a long run back.
