So since trying to get straight information in a calm and timely fashion from your average Video Game commenter on youtube is a lot like attending a lecture on non-linear equations by an XM radio shock jock with a brain tumor, I thought I present some quick and concise information on what I have noticed so far post update.
-
Elephants upgraded: Elephants are indeed a lot harder to kill. And whilst I can neither confirm nor deny that the amount of material received from them has diminished after 2.3, it is a distinct possibility and warrants further investigation
-
Food preservation nerfed: Sad to say that now those bowls of gruel and spiced fish combos only last about 4-6 hours give or take. Gone are the days where it would last days. Every food that I have seen now goes bad a hell of a lot quicker. As does damn near everything else including things like bugs. This is too bad because it also seems you get hungrier and thirstier a lot quicker as well. And, I kid you not, savory flesh lasts LONGER than cooked meat by approximately 10-15 minutes You cannot make this s**t up.
-
Alchemist bench does NOT make alchemy base: I donât know if the developers felt that they had been personally wronged by the fans in some way but amazingly alchemy has become MORE complicated. An Alchemy station will NOT produce an Alchemy base. I just want everyone to take a moment to read that sentence again. Slowly. So now the process of making a potion requires three separate stations: a grinder to mash up your silver and gold, a firebowl cauldron to create the base, and then the Alchemy station to actually make the bloody potion. Great.

Resin from all trees 14p/8px: On a slightly more positive note: you can now harvest resin from every type of Tree, not just the Northern ones. Iâve found that Star Metal pick gets me about 14 units of resin, whilst a pickaxe gets me about half that.

Followers keep weapons equipped. Joy of joys, the days of watching your thrall get butchered into prime rib as they fumble about attempting to equip their weapon have ended. Now thralls keep their weapons equipped at all times. Not only does this cut down on the number of âpounding-your-head- on-the-tableâ deaths youâre forced to witness, but it also opens up a few more of their inventory slots that were previous occupied by their arms.

Food sates: not heals: Food does not any longer give you a spurt of health. What it DOES do is give you the sated condition which WILL up your health regen 3/1. And no, the amount of food or the quality of food has no affect on this condition. So if youâre scarfing down buckets of pork sausage trying to get a regeneration rate that would make Wolverine jealous, you may stop now.
Update: according to other sources the God feasts DO substantially upgrade your health regen. Canât confirm myself.
-
Aloe and healing got an upgrade: Aloe potions NOW cure bleeding. About bloody time. They also give a massive boost to your health in a short amount of time. Bonus is that as far as I can tell, getting hit no longer completely destroys your healing process. It will interrupt it still but if I am correct, you no longer feel like youâre wasting potions because youâre chugging in the middle of a battle and then immediately get hit. This is purely theoretical on my part and needs confirmation.
-
The dashing attack is a Godssend: Speaking only for myself: every time I run-up to a backpedaling enemy brandishing Vera (my great axe) and then I lunge to attack, only to be drawn up short because the attack gives me no forward momentum and leaves me totally vulnerable to counterattack, I die a little inside. Which is not who I want dying. The dash attack helps solve that giving you some badly needed forward momentum against enemies.
-
Stamina change: All the information you saw was true. Depleted stamina no longer leaves you completely helpless. The stamina rate regens a little more slowly if itâs completely drained, but you WILL be at least functional. So hopefully this will cut down on the number of games of 'Ring around the Rosie Iâve been forced to play against my enemies waiting for my stamina to fully recharge
-
Thralls disappear into the ground after being beaten: And of course, weâre back to the bugs because why not. Thralls now have a nasty habit of being dissolving into the earth after being battered into unconsciousness. The only fix I have found for this is simply to try again somewhere else. Which can be pretty upsetting after youâve FINALLY found that Tier 4 blacksmith youâve been hunting for, for bloody *days* until to have them vanish right from under you.
Update: information from an outside source suggests that derendering and re-rendering the area will bring said thrall back from the bowels of the earth. Again canât confirm myself.
- UPDATE!
thanks to the heroic actions of u/DrAlbusRavenwood Iâve discovered that I was indeed wrong. Partial nudity IS still an option. However you must activate it twice: Once in the title menu at the start of the game and then AGAIN under the settings menu in game. Why they put a redundancy failsafe on breasts instead of making it a single, simple toggle, I have no idea but there it is.
No topless women: Lastly and unfortunately, women are no longer seen topless in the US release of Conan Exiles post-patch. Even WITH the nudity set to âPartialâ in the settings menu. I spawned multiple dancers to make sure. None of them spawned topless. None of them could become topless after being made thralls. All of them now permanently have coarse chest pieces over their top halves that cannot be removed.
And as a little added Puritanical joy: all the topless women that WERE exposed before the patch have since been covered up. It has rendered my Derketo pleasure palace from A steady R rating to PG-13; the most loathsome of film ratings. Guys remain barechested no worries but it would seem that a womanâs breasts now evoke a downright Zuckerbergian response aka âFemale presenting nipples make me feel yucky insideâ from the developers.
So it would appear that we can drive an AXE through a womanâs ti*s cleaving her in half and watching her die screaming in two separate pieces of gore on the ground, as long as we donât actually SEE them with their chests exposed. Such a charming message that sends.
Thatâs it for now. Will continue to update this as I come across additional material.
