Just got this, started a sandbox to get familiar with this. Currently have a lvl 45 toon. and I am building a base smack dab in the middle of the map. But in scurrying around trying to find resources I notice I am only getting meat from animals, and gossamer from spiders. Nothing else, ever. I currently have 1853 gossamer. By golly, that’s enough. The crocs drop hide that I tan to leather, but no other critter drops anything, or harvests for anything.
What am I doing wrong? Or is my sandbox bugged somehow?
picks to harvest animals will get bones, hide and meat
skinning knife on animals will get you hide
cleaver on animals will get you meat and heads
axes on animals will get meat heads and bones
spiders I use picks and get ichor and chitin
There are other variants but that is my normal goto for tools when after resources.
Well, picks, hammers, knives, swords, and axes didn’t change anything. Still only gossamer from spiders. I did get bone from gazelles last night, but I need to farm spiders to get ichor & fangs. I need sinew and horn for bows. Funcom is notorious for having a huge shopping list for crafting. I knew that going in. But darned if I can figure out how to get the stuff
Yeah, I could have sworn I saw a bow recipe needing sinew, but now I can’t find it. Blame it on the n00b. I mentioned sword & hammer, because I wanted to try any tool I could lay my hands on experimenting. It’s kind of driving me nuts that I can’t get horn, fangs, or ichor. I just leveled last night, I will try the squish theory using a press to get ichor. Not sure what to do about horn & fangs yet.
Really? I thought only my kinsman used such bad uses… Nevermind. Stealing is the worsiest thing you can tell to anyone to do, even in a game. Now, lecivius, if you need ichor you must build (not steall) a mudcrab trap. Place it in a source of water, wait sometime for it to fill them grab cameroon from it and cook them. Every cameroon will give you 1 ichor and this way you don’t need to cook the blue fish wich is better to be trown in an oil press where it will give you 1 oil for fish. You also can have some ichor by hiting spider’s and scorpion’s corpses with your pickaxe but it will be just a few. Skining daggers will farm queratin from them. Honestly i would love to see who are the genius behind Conan’s farming/crafting system: monkeys bite me if i ever seen someone extracting wood shells from dry wood and God have mercy if i ever saw tar being extracted from courum, but who am i to say?
Thanks guys I’ll try crab traps tonight when I get home. I knew crafting would be a challenge, Funcom is notorious for it. But then throwing in a few ‘possible’ bugs, and then you don’t know what’s working, and what is bugged.
Is there any point in using shellfish traps? Fish traps are cheaper and give you the choice of oil or ichor. Unless I’m missing something shellfish traps are pointless.
Is there a point yes: bluefish gives you 1 oil if placed in a press or 1 ichor if cooked so you cannot produce oil and ichor from the same resource at the same time; you can half oil production to have the other half cooked for ichor but it will only give you a decent rate if you place at least 30 fishtraps. You can have a decent amount of oil and ichor with 10 fishtraps and just five shellfish traps. You can harvest 500 bluefish and about 300 cameroon from them and you’ll have 500 oil and 300 ichor everytime you colect them.
you can also turn 3 fish (1 of each) into Fish Strips
and can also make a few Fish Trophy items in the Artisan workbench. not only are a few good for decoration, but you can also get a bit of experience from trophies too.
