A new year and still no sorcery

There’s always been sorcery in game, its all the past and present exploits. The magic is all around too.
I was really hoping they would just put horse heads on the javelins and keep the infinite stamina glitch though :frowning: We need mounts even more than sorcery.

You know what no one on my server ever talks about in regards to what would improve the game? Sorcery. These people actually play the game, and enjoy it. They pay for the DLCs. Oh, and most of them quite love having new cosmetics to play with.

Frankly, if it is added to the game I’ll love it though. Because I will hunt those who use it relentlessly. Hopefully into extinction. However until thralls and purges are fixed we do not need anything added to the combat system, period.

I would prefer the blue screen crashes and building Glitches fixed. Rather than a Halloween prank gone wrong. Fix the issues. Then move on to Magic that most likely crashes every thing. And I think Funcom is doing there best let them work. Ps4. Day. One player. Have purchased all DLC for my wife and my machine.

The majority of players are like this.

The ones in this thread are the complainers you see in every game. They don’t actually even play video games. They look for games that have issues in order to find bugs and complain about them on social media to get fake internet points and likes.

These were the target audience of Mass Effect Andromeda. They don’t want a playable game, they want a buggy game to play. This is why they want Sorcery in whatever state it is in now. Its incomplete, buggy. That’s what they want. Its so they can go on their twitters and facebooks and whine about how they were cheated to their anti-capitalist echo-chambers.

The evidence is easy to see. Look at their post history. Its the same people from nearly a year ago, still complaining. There is no way they are so naive to keep playing a game that lacks EVERY feature they want, that has been unplayable for months, and from a company they said they didn’t trust months ago.

Unless one of them wants to come on here and go, “oh damn I guess I am that dumb, it has been nearly a year.” Because some how they didn’t realize that? I dunno if I’d even believe them.

I launched a rhino clear across the Savannah. I am pretty sure that is magic.

And today I was building a roof and took one step. Suddenly everything freezes for a moment. Then when that foul time stop spell ended I was plummeting to my death off of the largest cliff near Priest Kings Retreat. Im not even around that area.

Sorcery exists. You just need to look for it.

lol.

I launched the Demon Spider Queen thru the green wall once. Severely ticked, as i fought her the old fashioned way…as in spikes and archers  She shot up into the air as i watched and right thru the green screen, about 100 foundations away.

Sorcery at its finest!!!

Literally said in group chat “Well that happened” without explaining what that was and went about my day, 1 less legendary weapon in tow.

And Brian claims that sorcery isn’t in Conan, pffft. :smirk:

Let me just butt in to say… nope. Professional testers that know what they’re doing make the best testers. The ones who systematically test, write down problems and can provide proper feedback in an organized manner, including how to reproduce bugs reliably.

Regular players, as a rule, make terrible testers. Sure, there’s always a few who write lengthy, detailed bug reports, but for every one of those, there’ll be a hundred who had a bad experience and never gave feedback (beyond a downvote on Steam maybe), because - hey, that’s not their job.

As is mine. We’ll call it a draw :crossed_swords:

Sure, different testers or phases of testing can (and should!) focus on different aspects of testing. But I’ll take a single professional over a hundred average “normal players” for any and all of those phases any day of the week. Not that they’re necessarily mutually exclusive, mind: there’s absolutely nothing wrong with old-school alpha- and beta phases, as long as they’re labelled as such!

That may well be your experience. It isn’t mine. If only the purely technical issues are tested, the testing is not thorough or complete - though whether the core gameplay is fun should certainly be answered very early in the process, otherwise you don’t have a game at all!

I am well aware that I’m “behind the times” in many ways on this, though. But just because it’s cost-effective (in the short term, anyway) to release what is essentially a beta at best and fix it as you go, doesn’t mean it’s “the best”. And there is a rising backlash against the dropping quality of games at launch, even if it hasn’t had much financial impact yet for the big studios.

Maybe the mainstream will continue to do things this way (that’s up to their customers, in the end), gamers are whining loudmouths but notoriously forgiving when it comes to buying the next installment anyway, after all. Either because they’re obnoxious hypocrites or (my opinion) because games are amazing entertainment-hours-per-dollar value, even when they’re subpar, and most gamers know this, consciously or otherwise.

But I do think there is a growing niche market for games (and thus, developers) who don’t go this route.

There is no sorcery in game right now.

in gaming industry Beta-testers are pay to test some parts not all the game as you or me will play it. They get only parts of game that are under development in that time. When you put them all together starts the fun
This is cause we do not play the game how the developer things ,here is the global problem

Marvel Heroes was fine, Disney TOOK IT down, as disney have rights to Marvel and they plan to release marvel stuff on their own portal

If professional beta testers are the judges, then players are the jury.

Right now, we have the jury only, without the judge.

There needs to be both. The objective, and the subjective.

Am a little confused tho, a while back they release a video saying sorcery will be in the game, then they released a statement that they are going to cut it out, is it back on the development list as of recent or am i missing something. What i think this game needs the most tho is a developer roadmap, lots of developers now got used to the idea of not releasing any news about upcoming features and players are letting them get away with that.

Back in October 2018 in another thread about Sorcery we had a response from Jens about it… this is the link to his full reply: Where the Magic funcom?

The specifics for sorcery was as follows (but I can’t make it as a quote box):

"First off, thank you for all your input and for sharing your opinions. I completely understand that it’s frustrating to not know anything definitive about such a hot topic as sorcery so hopefully I’ll be able to clear some things up.

To put it bluntly: Magic is still up in the air. Right now our current focus is finishing and releasing the three remaining dungeons that were on our roadmap. Sorcery is very, very early, and we don’t even know what it might look like or if it will be implemented at this point."

As of January 2019 - we’ve not had the next three dungeons he’s mentioned. Of course the Olso Funcom office has only returned from their Christmas break this week, so I suspect they will be back into the routine work and release a community newsletter soon.

Well thanks Kwalya that clear is it for me, i don’t understand why people here are saying that it will be the next big update, as far as i can tell they don’t even have any plans for it. I really was hoping for something fresh and if it takes forever to deliver on features promised over 2 years ago i kind of lost interest to be honest i mean there are some many good games out now i worry how Conan Exiles will stay competitive since its an online game anyway.

Play on modded servers that have magic if this is so big an issue for you

He plays on ps4 so this is not an option for him.
We own the game however, so even it takes many more months before it has the sorcery he desires he will be able to update it then and play …he can chose to put it aside and play other things until it has what interests him and then reinstall the game … it’s not like we are on a limited time subscription model where we will lose access after it expires.
But I know it’s frustrating waiting and waiting for something to be working in the game
… my clan mate and I started playing around launch (May 2018) and have been playing and waiting since July for the purges to be working … we see no point in restarting characters until they are
…so we happily keep occupied with other aspects of the game … his base is quite magnificent now and I am slowly increasing my number of wolves to cover every letter of the alphabet …got my A to Z now with a mix of male and female names - these now need to be paired with Nordiemer thralls to guard my bridge…then I might start again and alternate so every wolf which had a female name gets a partner wolf with a male name starting with same letter and vice versa. My collection of hyenas placed on tall rocks named after the international letter code (Alfa, bravo etc) is progressing nicely too…to ensure I do not complete these projects too quickly I limit the number of animal pens.
