A positive thought about the recent updates

I 've played games that dlcs are for real, buy to win. In Conan exiles this never happened, never. On the contrary black ice is still (on ps4) the strongest construct, the champion and silent legion, still the best armors, closing with the legendary weapons that no dlc weapon can much them. So even if you payed 20 euro or 200, the game gives you the same opportunities. Dlcs however are the beauty of this game, even the ugliest pvp base can become so beautiful and exotic inside with the dlc contents.

yeah it did in a very tiny way, where you had to find the t4 for specific armor to maintaiin certain build in certain wheather opposed to having any t4 thrall crafting any stat with any resist if you had all the dlc.

for example, before: which heavy armor provides cold resistance and +9 strength? only a dlc one

My dear friend that is exactly the reason you could take a non dlc potion and fix your attributes :joy::joy::joy:. In eso, if you don’t pay eso plus every month, can you visit all the map? How long it takes you to become master crafter if you don’t pay the instant all research? What I simply said is that having dlc or not you have the same chances with another player. I happen to own some dlcs, not derceto, still there is always someone to fix me a guardian armor . But dlc content is not stronger than the vanilla, easier, maybe a little, but stronger NEVER. And I think we both agree on that :+1:.

I have always thought that the way to deal with this is to break armor creation into pieces. Like, the visual appearance of the armor and its weight are fixed, but you can mix and match the attribute bonuses and temp behavior by building different “padding”.

But that’s basically a different game at that point.

Yeah, I like that idea, too. Unfortunately, they always bring the same argument against it: WYSIWYG is important for PVP. Personally, as a PVE-C player, I’ve never been in a combat situation where I looked at the other guy’s armor and went “oh, okay, that’s +9 to vit” and that helped me change the outcome of the battle. :man_shrugging:

It’s especially moot with the horse+lance+cat meta

I’ve been making that argument for about 20 years. There’s absolutely no way you’re going to tell someone’s capabilities by the armor they are wearing. Weapon, yes. Armor, absolutely not.

I’ve done some pretty competitive PVP over the years.

The last time I fought someone in PvP they were wearing vitality armor and I was sort of confused. I don’t believe that knowing/no knowing their attribute bonuses and temp resistance is going to be all that bad. Knowing whether they’re wearing heavy, medium or light armor does tell me something important that I wouldn’t want hidden.

Honestly, so many of the arguments on here seem so strained. They imply a level of mastery over the gameplay that I just don’t believe exists. “It’s important that I know whether they have a bonus to agility or strength because my cyborg pvp mind immediately and perfectly factors that into the actions I choose to take in the next 15 seconds.”

I was one of those PVP’ers who thought like that. The more I thought about it, the more I realized it doesn’t matter… Most PVP’ers run a pretty similar build anyway. It’s only really different if they use special armors with +3 to stats and then it’s just a slightly better version of the same build.

And in the end you judge people on how they play, not what they wear.

I remember playing on a PVP RP server a while back. I was in some Zamorian Thief armor. Not the armor I would have chosen for what I was doing, but the circumstances called for it, so I played the hand that was dealt. Anyhoo, this was during the era of the Spear Meta. I don’t quite remember which armor was the meta for that. I remember STR Light and STR Medium being good since Silent Legion had just been nerfed and heavy armor in general was not well liked.

Needless to say, I was not using a spear, my preferred weapon combo at the time was Axe and Shield. But I didn’t have access to an axe (again, RP server, stuff happens, and I had what I had), but a sword. Good thing is I was enjoying the sword on this character since when I rolled them, I didn’t have a base and instead nomaded around the map picking up what I could, and got lucky on a flawless longsword drop.

At this point I had a decent shield, and a sword that was a legendary, I forget which one. But I had good weaponry, not so great armor. I think it was epic flawless though. But still. AGI armor… back then… yick.

I didn’t find very many spear users that were not terribly easy to take down. They could easily see (there was no mod to change this back then) what I was wearing. They saw that I was using sword and board.

Very much non-meta weapon. And very much weak armor compared to well everything else. And they got trounced. Maybe it was due to overestimating the situation. But I doubt that, because about half a minute into a fight, they got really really cautious and squeamish. Though I attribute this to when they see a lunge coming and they launch a combo to counter it, but its canceled by a dodge and then the lunge starts again, connecting when their combo hit air, they get rightfully worried.

In either case, I did notice I was fighting a variety of armors. From darfari, to aquilonian, to khitani, to god knows what a RPer will choose because they look good (ahh who the hell am I to judge? I was wearing crap lol).

I took each one down in the same way. Using feints and blocks and quick light attacks as I ran by where I could to keep pressure on them. It didn’t matter what they were in.

I did take notice of what armor people used. I mean on a RP server that’s pretty much how you identify who you’re dealing with for non-PVP reasons. But when it came to fighting, that went out the window.

And I’ve always taken this measure in PVP in manner other games. I ain’t got time to analyze what they got. I mean in games like Conan and ESO, and others, the weapon being used is more important anyway. Its action-reaction, feint and recover.
