Hello everyone, I am a solid noob who has played Conan Exiles on PS4 for about three days now. Like many it seems I came from Ark which I think has helped me to understand this game a little quicker than I would have otherwise.
I think I will be posting quite some silly questions here, for some reason I find it difficult to find basic information about how to do things. (It’s always like: "How to get BEST this and that, what’s the BEST food for your horse, the BEST blah blah and I just want to know for example what on earth horses eat in general hahaha).
So yeah the first thing that goes beyond me is the feat system. They are all “recipes” right? Like engrams in Ark? Or are there different ways they work?
Why I cannot unlock some of them, bows for example that say they’re level 10 and cost no points? I am level 30-something currently and have points to use anyway. Oh and I have crafted two bows, the basic hunting one and one which’s name I cannot remember but yeah I should have the required feat to unlock the next ones (right?)
I noticed some feats have an arrow-kinda mark on them like a download icon or something, what’s that about? Does it have to do with some extra content that I don’t have or…?
Also the colours. I have understood the background colours have to do with levels, but what about the “shines”? Like when a feat has whatever background colour but shines as yellowish for example, what that means?
The whole system is a pain to use since I’m still not used to it but I guess it will all be easier when I get familiar with it. I remember hating Ark’s engrams and crafting windows more than anything and even avoiding crafting cause it was so annoying and confusing but now I can use them effortlessly with eyes closed so maybe it’ll be the same with Conan Exiles.
The game has been so much fun though and so pleasing to the eye it keeps me motivated to learn.
Yes it does. It’s from DLC that you can buy. Or you may not buy them if you are not interested in new models of weapon, armor etc. They all are just cosmetic and have the same stats as free ingame stuff. Yes you can discover some recipes in game killing bosses for example, and such armor or weapon will be better than from free Feats or DLCs.
Some things have prerequisite items that must be unlocked. For example higher tier building pieces require higher level picks to be unlocked before the building piece can be.
Not sure on arrows but I would expect that you have to learn bows first. Red backgrounds mean you have not unlocked that feat. The prerequisites are listed in the top of the right panel of feats where it shows what all unlocks when you purchase it. Hope that helps. Merry Christmas to you as well.
When a feat has a yellow color it means you can unlock that feat. When it is red you are either missing a feat or you are not that level yet. Some feats can only be unlocked after reaching a certain level.
Best bet. Pretty current. Last patch info might not have been added yet. But It will let you better understand the recipes. Use only if you are trying to quick learn. Otherwise most stuff will have how in game. There are a few recipes that don;t show you the raw mats… but again, most will tell you where to craft it, and in that station it will list the resources you need to craft once you have recipe. AS far as color codes go, as stated
Green–Unlocked
Yellow–Available to unlock
Red—either not high enough level, do not have sub recipes unlocked, or do not have enough feat points available.
***The ones with sub recipes will highlight the sub recipes, that are on the same page, you will need to unlock it when you select in the menu. As well , it will highlight the next recipe it unlocks if you select the sub first, again only if they are on the same page.
IE, to unock steel pick, you need iron pick recipe. If you highlight steel pick, you will see the highilight around iron pick, and vice versa.
