Access denied after server crash

The ability to play on official servers is a prerogative granted or refused at Funcom’s discretion.

see ya…

I suggested my clanmates try again based on your comments. It was successful.

Glad you were unbanned as the others that reached out.

They prpbably lost records aa to ehy you got banned if you did , then ypu did somethibg you wete not supposed to do .

You did not buy the game you bought the right to playir , and they can remove you from playing officials and legally they dont even need to give you a reason .

I wonder where you from ?

to be fair how about those who got banned during the ban meta? It is well known by many players that just reporting you got you banned no matter what for awhile for like 2+ ish years. They did nothing wrong, just played the game in a toxic system.

While that may seem harsh, there are a couple of points to consider - a) it is impossible, even during the ban meta, to get banned without doing something - it may not be what we would consider sufficient grounds for a ban, but reports still had to be investigated and had to show up some activity (most likely building close enough to despawn something unimportant). b) the three strikes system - no one gets a lifetime ban without multiple infractions (except for truly egregious behaviour), they only get suspensions for the first two offences - that should be sufficient warning to be more careful;

c) the truly important point of what I was arguing - bans still only apply to official servers. The person I was arguing against was trying to claim that it is ‘against the law’ for a company to take money and then ‘stop them from playing’ but they were not stopped from playing, they were stopped from playing on official servers, which is a significant difference. My concern was, and remains, that someone may be naive enough to actually follow their advice and waste their money on lawyers, as this person claims to have done. The only way a lawyer would support such a claim would be if the lawyer was consulted casually and misled as to the nature of such a ‘ban’. As soon as they actually researched the reality of the situation, and see that their client is in fact still able to use the game, then the lawyer would say there is no case.

Let’s be clear, the ban meta sucked as a concept and should never have been allowed to develop - Funcom dropped the ball. However, official servers are and always have been an optional extra, they are in no way required as a way to play the game. If Funcom decided to abandon official servers entirely, or just shut them down, that would still be entirely within their rights. It would suck for many people, but it is not something that Funcom is required to provide.

The law doesn’t work like that… You’ve never been in court, have you…?

The law is thousands and thousands of laws, often vague and unclear, sometimes missing altogether. With a good lawyer, you can win…

Were you banned? No… So you don’t know what it’s like, your opinion doesn’t matter to us… But thanks anyway… Go back to playing Conan? Thanks.
