I’m on the southern side of the river.
Other guys base was on the northern side directly north of the sinkhole. Just south down the hill of minor thrall camp. Very slightly east of boss croc lagoon.

It’s in PvE. Whether it works properly or not is another question. I’m gonna go with it problem doesn’t work. I’ve had 2 purge notifications. Both tried to attack my noob beach location for some reason.
1st purge. Army of Imps. They didn’t show up. Minute after the notification they were coming there was another notification they were defeated and I got my survive the purge journey step.
2nd purge. Cackle of Hyenas. They did show up. All 2 hyenas, 3 werehyenas and 1 archer. That was the entire purge. No notification that it was defeated or the purge was ended of any sort.
Now I’ve been sitting for days with a completely full purge meter and nothing has happened.
If the purge did not end then there is one enemy hidden in the area, I kinda had that happen till I found a imp hiding in the water, then I shot him to death then it ended. 
Edit: Maybe the devs should add a purge time limit just in case nothing happens after a while, like end the purge after an hour or 2.
I had a purge happen at the sinkhole in the last days of early access.
It was werehyenas. I killed several waves of them and after half an hour they just walked off. I got the message saying I defeated the purge.
So there was a timer on it in ea and it worked fine. Not now though.
