Add server toggle switch for Old Purge

Funny, this is how I feel about the new one. Which is why a toggle would be great!

Old purge never worked well for me. Even though it was supposed to strike “the closest base to where youm are” on Single-Player, the Purge almost always waited until I was closest to my Swungle base, and then struck there. Or sometimes, when I was sitting stubbornly at a base I wanted to get the Purge, it nevertheless hit a random fishing hut along the Noob River, or a one-foundation-plus-three-ceiling-pieces bridge in the North.

But the new Purge has crappy rewards for the effort. They’re too random, and often not worth even picking up. I see no reason to let Isscar out of his cage now that I’ve done it once, so I just try not to listen to his swearing while I loot the boxes instead.

For us the old Purge was one of the most entertaining things in Conan Exiles.
We had it set to spawn often 10k actions and all maxed out - 60 minutes duration at max difficulty.

Players from across whole server were gathering to support the one getting Purged, it was a great social experience and lots of fun for everyone.
We could do something together in game while having a laugh on Discord.

If anything it should have stayed on private servers with a toggle ON/OFF as it always had been.
But nope, Funcom took it away, after all they know better what is fun and what we need… There is nothing to do in that game so let’s remove some content…

I am willing to pay for the Old Purge to be brought back to my private server.

The new purge is not a Purge, it’s a tower defense mini game. It’s bugged, and it does not destroy our bases = not scary, boring, yawns… And we have to actually launch it ourselves, boring AF…

Where did you get this purge? I never had one, omg give me more plz, even if i ain’t going to have it anyway.

E5 north where the river bents east. I had hyenas (which is one of the types of purges that did not make any sense because why would hyenas attack a base… and why would they be able to destroy walls?), Rocknoses (does not make any sense either), Black hand (with 3 super bosses), Crocodiles, Exiles, and bone lizards and skeletons.
I should mention that that was basically the first row on the map where building was allowed on the server.

Depends the thralls and the gear. If it was 5 Berserkers lvl 3 top gear they wouldn’t have issues with undead lizards.

I was level 13 and they were level 3 exiles with iron swords and stygian infantry armor.

And empty quickly too, all you had to do was leave clan recreate clan and purge meter was zero.

Would be considered an exploit and not allowed on the server.

Why not?
In many of the Conan comic books, there are wizards and shamans who mind control different animals and creatures and give them orders, so who knows. Maybe they were sent by a jungle shaman, like those crocodiles Conan and Valeria meet in “River of Blood” comic.

The thing is… I don’t think servers could manage both purges…
I would like to have both options, but I am not sure that will ever be a possibility.

To combine old and the new Purge would have been perfection.

In the old purge the first wave, or couple of first waves could have been simply waited out. You had to do nothing, just wait for the timer to run out and purge was finished.

Often the Old Purge just wandered around near your base and if you did not go to them to catch aggro, the timer would just run out - purge finished.

The actions counter was adding a lot of atmosphere to Exiled Lands, my base is spotted, the meter is almost full, I have to get ready, they will come soon… It was cool.

My vision (I know it’s not going to happen, I’ve been here long enough):

  1. bring back the actions counter from Old Purge
  2. leave the camp spawning and waves rushing towards our base from the New Purge
  3. make the purge diverse, like the Old Purge was, Stygian army can be reserved for higher levels, and bring nicely equipped and trained professional units
  4. make the purge target the coffer as in the New Purge, but let it destroy anything in the way in the process like in the Old Purge.

Here, purge fixed + bring back the toggle to switch off the purge in solo/private servers, so builders and little girls won’t cry.

I am a bit confused here. Lvl 13 purge?
Lvl 13 in this game, even from the very beginning, you were before you understand that in this survival your character cannot fart and you accept purge?
Then stygian infantry armor? Didn’t this armor arrived with the age of war?
Too confusing, i don’t know, i just feel that you answer something just to answer.
Yet, i get you no worries.

Especially the first purge. We had a time limit to prepare, mainly people who like to go straight to the tougher areas, like the mounds. I loved that. It’s not that the new purge doesn’t have great elements. It does. It’s a cool idea that needs a better implementation. But it’s not a fit replacement for the old purge, not even lorewise.

Your idea sounds great. They could also implement a sort of convergence trap like in Siptah, but fueled by gold, so that people who don’t like the purge can avoid it entirely. Pay a toll not to be purged.

We will see. I doubt this new purge will be permanent.

That is it - the new purge does not feel like a part of the game, it’s more like an optional minigame inside the main game.
The old thing was inevitable and it helped to create the atmosphere of Exiled Lands, it was literally the only thing creating any sense of “danger”.

Even when combining both Purges as I described in my previous post is not an option, then they should have left the old thing alone and added the new one on top.
It would have been lore friendly, the old purge being the exiles and monsters inhabiting Exiled Lands and the new thing - new Stygian army invading to loot.

Erm… I was talking about the old purge, that one that did not have levels but was with location based enemies and started when you did enough things to fill the corresponding bar to a certain point.
(Which took me about 2 hours by the way)

You have to be more exact about the server you were playing. Simple as that you do not speak about an official server or single player with normal purge meter adjustment.
That was a challenge a friend here assigned me to do…

I played with 0,1 exp, not 0,2, still the first 10 lvls came up very easy. So in normal purge meter adjustment and settings to accept lvl 13 purge was impossible. After all you said it…

I am not trying to argue, i just explain that your examples have special - different adjustments than the “casual”

I have to emphasize I do like the new purge, I wouldn’t want it removed, this is not an argument about one purge being better than the other.

Just an option to have the old system. Don’t see why they should be mutually exclusive, at least in single player.

The new Purge is great, but it should have been an upgrade to the old purge instead of replacement.

I’d pay a full price of Conan Exiles just to get the old purge solutions and mechanics back, I mean the action timer/meter. Also, the diverse enemies, animals, cannibals, tribals, and as someone had mentioned before, Stygians as the top tier difficulty.

Also the spawning is the biggest flaw of the new purge.
Dennis if there is no space for the whole camp to spawn, make it spawn just the cages and chests and send waves from that spot.
