So we are in the process with my clan to change our gear to epic stuff. I want to be sure that we are using the correct (easiest?) way to do it. Mainly two main resources needed seem to be related to intense farming:
Crafting: We own an Improved Firebowl Cauldron so I think cost wise, we already have the cheapest recipe (1 Silver Dust /1 Gold Dust/1 Ichor) but then you have silver (to farm, our base is close to Sepermeru so we should go in the Scorpion Den) and we arleady own 2 Gold-vein Rocknoses (and we can mine up North). Is it the
Looting: I have seen people doing bearer runs in the desert as loot crates have a chance to spawn from 250 to 1000 Alchemical Base. Is it still the case? Is it efficient?
Star Metal Bar :
So is there another way than finding meteorites and explode them and harvest for Star Metal Ore? It seems quite time consuming, no?
Finally you agree that in order to make Oil (Hardened Leather) the easiest it probably from Seeds in the Fluid Press?
In general, is there some specific bench to craft to reduce the cost of the above? Another strategy?
Alchemical Base can indeed be farmed by killing off Bearer IIIs. The Dogs of the Desert main camp has at least three bearer spawn points. I never tried to farm them just for Alchemical Base, so I don’t know how fast that’d work, but it looks pretty promising.
An easy way to get oil is this: Gather Bark. Gather Ichor by killing spiders and farming them with a pick. Use a high level alchemist on your cauldron, then turn 1 Bark + 1 Ichor to 5 Oil.
Sounds like a good answer to me! Wherever you are located, just make sure to farm those bearers! I’ve never crafted any alchemical base and have accumulated thousands. Gathering bark and ichor is definitely the easiest way to produce a large amount of oil very quickly. The ichor you can also get from cooking the lowest grade fish, as well as killing spiders.
Another way (maybe slightly more time consuming) is you can put the high-end and mid-grade fish into the fluid press and you will get oil, you need a lot of fish traps for this to produce a lot of fish. You’d be getting the ichor and the oil from the same fish traps so it’s convenient, and you can still get lots of bark and use any extra ichor in the cauldron to create even more oil.
Another to get star metal is by capturing the thralls in the mounds of the dead, once you tame them, they will all have star metal weapons. You can then deconstruct that. You can also obtain a lot of the gear they wear just by killing and farming that village, deconstructing that will give you the high end materials needed to craft epic gear. On a side note, there are normally lots of star metal meteors above the friendly Frost Giant, if you roam the snowy mountain above him, you will find a few almost guaranteed! You can use four or five grease orbs and one or two fire orbs to crack it open then mine it! Mining is by far the most efficient way as you can get 200 ore or more per meteor.
You don’t need to mine for gold or silver. There are many chests in the Unnamed City that contain gold and silver coins and bars. There are even more chests like that in the water around Jamilla’s Liberty (the big shipwreck in the Buccaneer Bay) and also a few more underwater off the east coast in the jungle.
I get all the gold and silver I’ll ever need from those chests.
That’s actually the best way to do it. The secret is in using the right tools. Obsidian tools have the highest harvesting rate of all the craftable tools, higher than star metal tools. Use an obsidian pick or Black Blood pick (legendary drop, not craftable), with the Oil of Bounty. If you can’t craft Oil of Bounty yet, put an Advanced Tool Upgrade on your pick.
Grab a T4 alchemist – the easiest spot would be the Sinner’s Refuge – and use the special recipe: 1 bark + 1 ichor = 5 oil.
EDIT: Added some clarifying details about obsidian tools.
It is. My clanmate is looking for named Bearers for our clan of two and supplies us with Alch Base. I’ve brought some cions from underwater chests but he is way more efficient. Farming Obsidian for Gold looks the worst and least efficient way to get Alch Base.
Speaking of Oil the only reasonable way is to get T4 Alchemist. Then you’ll craft 5 Oil from 1 Ichor and 1 Bark (?) so you’ll bathe in Oil. T4 Alchemists are easy to get in the Exiled Lands, so it’s the best way. Seeds are the worst as you need thousands of them. It’s just a secondary way for getting Oil from fish as you have to farm Plant Fiber to get Insects to catch Fish, and you get some Seeds as well.
Thank you very much all for your interesting and quick feedbacks! I read them all but it is hard to reply to everything
We are going to test bearer farming for Alchemical Base and see how it goes! We are far from Buccaneer Bay to go there to farm gold chest and I am not sure we can survive yet to the Unnamed City.
We do have a T4 Alchemist but I forgot about the Oil recipe, thanks for the reminder!
For the star metal, I think we will start by crafting some orbs and see how it goes (if we do not freeze to death ).
Noted also your comments regarding Obsidian pick (and tools in general). We do have some obsidian but we were not sure how to spend it. Pick it is!
Noted also the dregs suggestion. We have not done yet any “dungeon” but we should start. To be honest I did lost myself a little bit in the base building making huge towers, walls, fancy architectures and decorating rp-style But it is now time to explore the world!
It’s very easy if you know some chests locations. Just swim along the Noob river and no one will do you no harm. I’ve got gold from those chests on very low levels and returned safe and sound. If you have enough Breathing potion (looted or crafted, you can get recipe in the beginning of the Dregs) you can get equivalent of 40 Gold Bars in one run if you’re lucky and some Silver as well. Speaking of Bearers you should kill T3s and T4s if you want Alch Base. T1s and T2s give Stone, Wood and Iron.
A large catcher’s Mitt over my base near frost giants temple would gather on my server. Had a base there over a year now RNG has brought meteor shower on it two weeks in a row. Can you even build to withstand meteors?
No. When a meteor lands, it destroys anything that was at that spot, and deals splash damage around it in a certain radius.
Meteor spawns used to be no-build zones, but then Funcom changed it in one update (without including it in patch notes, IIRC) and it’s been like that since then.
No but there are some small areas of “meteor shadow” there. One of them is just behind a sitting statue on the cliff for example. If you watch meteors falling you’ll notice the direction they’re coming from and find those small “shadows” protecting from falling stars.
I want to thank you all for your advices. This weekend, we did some Bearers farming and went mining meteors. We have now 1000+ Alchemical Base and Stat Metal Bars (and 3000+ Oil)
I have new questions now but for the sake of clarity, I will make a new post.
