Age of Wiped bases

Man what can I say, the AoW build up looked pretty stellar. Finally we will get the purges we always wanted, full fledged sieges, world boss rework, Stygians coming to reclaim past wealths, It hooked my interest to a point I actually was anticipating it a little bit. After the day was over, I log on and see all my chests and workbenches lost stability for no reason. I could only save one bag of my loot before all the rest disappeared, all because I used a certain building set your company sells as a cosmetic in the game. I’m glad I, and others, decided to support the creators with our money, for it then to be the purpose the update is now ruined for us players. Did you guys even test the patch before you launched it? All the effort to add all these changes to attract new players, just to squander it for so many right from the get-go, and most likely drive some away. You guys could’ve had something, but this just overshadows it for so many players. I understand you will probably do little to remedy this for anyone, but hopefully you will understand why many will no longer care for this game now, I know I certainly don’t. After looking forward to the AOW update for some while, I guess I won’t be partaking in it at all, for what seems an avoidable reason had you tested your patches before launching them.

Greetings @MagAodha ,

Our development team is already aware that after the AoW update some players experienced the loss of items or building pieces and are already investigating this unexpected behavior.

A thread was created to communicate this to our players and we thank you for your patience and understanding:

It appears not just items and building pieces i have lost my entire follower list!

Hi .you created a #paytolose game.

I didn’t expect a bug like this one. and probably nobody else.

I advise you to either refund the people who bought the DLC.

or an amount of virtual money in the game defined by the players

I really hope there is some kind of roll back, if not I think refunds are in order. Me purchasing one of your products, for it to then be the main reason I lose everything is quite a sham

Good job its free then, really. So no refunds needed.

Mate, last I checked I payed for that pile of rubbish Nemedian cosmetic building skin. I love history and liked the Greek- Byzantine style, so thought why not show some love to funcom. I’m really glad I did because it’s the reason I’m reverted back to the neolitic era. And of course going forward I will buy more of their products, knowing that doing so could potentially result in this occurance again and ruin even playing the game, or supporting them financially at all. I couldn’t really care about the money, but rather the principle. If I purchase a product, just like anyone else, I expect it to work. If it doesn’t… give me my money back.

is see they made a typo… instead of “happy hunting” they meant to type “happy refarming your lost items”

Its not free…

The problem its with the build of the dlc

So funcom charged you for the age of sorcery update?
Funny I got it for free.

I’m pretty sure what I typed was simple, plain English. “Mate, last I checked I paid for that pile of rubbish Nemedian cosmetic skin…”

If it was a pile of rubbish why’d you use it?

It is quite a bit more then just a cosmetic skin. None the less the issue isn’t the DLC. it was a bug in the update.

People really need to read what they are agreeing to. You may not like it, but you agreed to this.

Sure you have every right to be mad. Pretty much the only thing you can do.
You can quit playing, I’ve taken a few sabbaticals.
You can not shop at the bazaar, I don’t.

If I knew it was a pile of rubbish why did I buy it? You really can’t be serious. Do you actually think prior to buying it I knew in the future their rubbish would cause an issue months later? Use your head. I knew what I agreed to? I agreed to the timeless simple act of a transaction that has existed for thousands of years: I buy something, I expect it to work. It’s strange that the ancient Mesopotamians understood this even, but not Funcom. These terrible companys and their lethargy needs to actually be addressed, as opposed to the stale, lazy retort of, “you know what you agreed to”. I couldn’t imagine running my business like so. All they really had to do is test these patches before release, but ehh, why bother, we got their money already. I

Do you know what you agreed to? If for some strange reason the game caused you PC to over heat, bust in to flame and burn your house down, you have already agreed not to hold funcom responsible.

And how most all game companies work.

For a company to run on a shotty principle of non-accountabilitly because of their lethargy, as the consumer has loosely agreed to it, I’m sure is a model that is quite sustainable.

Its not only Nemedian, everything on sandstone foundations for example is gone as well. Do you want funcom to refund you for the entire game? I’ve had issues even in my single player with loads of character designs just gone… Not to mention my actual RP server, where bases have just exploded and lost random parts to them, modded, non-modded, base game and DLC alike.

So… given that funcom’s disaster of an update, was free… no you shouldn’t expect money back

Nope. The problem isn’t with just DLC.

  • Some Modded things are breaking, losing stability and destroying things placed on them

  • Non-Modded things are breaking, losing stability and destroying things placed on them

  • Base game things are breaking, losing stability and destroying things placed on them

  • DLC game items are breaking, losing stability and destroying things placed on them

What has broken, is the most recent update. That isn’t something that you had to pay for, as its part of the base game that was launched and released a long time ago.

Don’t get me wrong, I get the anger and frustration, I lost a lot of stuff, including character designs on thralls in my SP game as they were on sandstone and it just caused them to disappear… my conan server where people have been building, has had loads of stuff just explode… but screeching about refunds isn’t going to save that.
