what about stuff already in the cabinet??.. all my stuff is in cabinets now… oohh well… time to make chests piles i think
Oh for heaven sakes, those who played the game from Day 1 pre-Alpha have seen a ton of tweaks, changes and roll-backs and roll-forwards and sideways. Funny, I have seen that on every game I have - and it still happens (yes Paradox, I speak of you…) - and I do wonder what the feedback would have been if the nerf was the other way, granting more space. Funny that…
- Nicole, I bow at your feat of patience
A nerf granting more space? Come on, dude. Words have meanings.
With all do respect my friend, but @Community has no responsibility for any of all this.
But even if they did, and for the ones who actually do, there’s no doubt that we love them no matter what. They need positive and negative opinions equally to create data for feedback. They need us to be honest and express feelings, but always to keep it civil!
If we manage to keep it civil they will be able to do their job easier! On this we must focus, nothing else!
So in testing, adding a vault to my base would require me to expand much further. My base is pretty small compared to others I have seen on many servers. But with 6 deities (Which cannot be built close to each other) and crafting tables (The end game are all very large) and now a vault, my expansion needs to take place. Unless I do what I used to do which was create a room and Chest Stack, which I can’t imagine takes a load off the server.
The Curios to me was less about storage (go figure) but allowed me to create smaller more creative bases without having to use massive vaults I needed to accommodate for. My words or feedback are not going to change anything but I will give this as a helpful hint;
If you are going to release a product in the bazaar or in the Battlepass (which people pay for) please ensure that these items are well described as well as correct upon their delivery. In any other business, I would be able to return a product if defective or return it if it did not function as advertised.
Other examples of this would be:
- Arcane weapons. The description clearly states they could be used as an arcane focus. Many people bought it for that reason.
- That little arcane box - Turns out to be decorative, not functional
- Curios and Bookcases - These were released and they had many many slots. The reality is that it was shipped this way. Thus at the time - working as intended. By changing them you changed the expectation of the shipped product.
I work in merch quality control and if we mess up we need to recall or honor an agreement. I am unsure as to why QA is not being done, other than some Youtubers who provide videos explaining the unintended storage, function, build or something that apparently breaks things, and then within a month or two…or in this case 6, we nerf or change the product that people got used to having.
This is less about nerf, and more about not handling your customer’s expectations properly. People may think twice before buying your product, if each time they buy, it becomes defective or changes dramatically.
I am fascinated by this incompetence, really. Excel table work gone wrong and QA not having a list of things on their table, that need to be checked.
Anyone know if you will lose items in them over 40 slots, does this apply to just new built ones or old built ones too? It whould suck to lose say 160 stacks of bricks and reinforcements,
The aesthetics are a matter of taste, yes.
But realistically speaking: you want more storage, you get bigger placeables.
I said it once, and it bears repeating:
Continuing the discussion from Bookcases? Really?:

Anyone know if you will lose items in them over 40 slots, does this apply to just new built ones or old built ones too?
Barring any bugs that haven’t been discovered yet, you shouldn’t lose those items. It should behave just like any other inventory that went over its limit: you can take the items out, but you can’t put them back in if you’re at or over the storage limit.
However, bear in mind that bugs and glitches do happen, so if you’re extremely attached to those items, don’t bet them on what someone on the forums said
Let’s assume for a moment that I don’t have the Arcane Curio Cabinet (which I don’t on one of my accounts). And I want to build a container that takes up the space that the ACC does, and has the same capacity, but I don’t have it.
Please tell me what my option is here that doesn’t require pulling out a credit card for a game I already purchased.
And I don’t want some ridiculous fantasy answer of “ThEy ShOuLd MaKe A vAnIlLa OnE tOo…” I’m talking about right here and right now in the next 5-10 minutes when I login.
Storage is something that is very much valuable in Conan Exiles and something even more valuable than combat stats in many cases.
Funcom has been very consistent about nipping these P2W things that slip through, so if you bought something ‘for the stats’ or ‘for the storage’ you have foolishly wasted your money and you’re going to be pointed and laughed at.
I warned Funcom about this crap months ago. That DLC, Bazaar, and Battlepass items should have no functionality, reduced functionality, and no stats. Otherwise players who think they are more clever than they are and want to use the wallets to solve issues over wits are going to complain when their toys are taken away or degraded.
5 chests can be placed in the same footprint and give you more than 200 total inventory spaces.

Please tell me what my option is here that doesn’t require pulling out a credit card for a game I already purchased.
As @erjoh just pointed out – and as has been explained previously in this thread and many others – you can stack chests and get more storage space per same volume.
The only advantages Arcane Curio Cabinet has are:
- it looks hella nicer
- stacking chests involves a risk of losing your items due to stability bugs
And guess what? If we’re going to cry P2W because something is less bug-prone instead of crying to fix the damn bugs, then our priorities are pretty fuсked up, pardon my Poitainian.
And the light source…it’s a functioning light source that doesn’t bleed through (like the wall lantern)
Yes, and that. And if that is P2W, then they could nerf that
Let’s be brutally honest here: Funcom isn’t nerfing this because it is P2W, but because it’s perceived as P2W and they simply want to appease those who say so.
Whether there’s anything wrong with that or not depends on one’s beliefs and values, and I’m not gonna go into that. But let’s not pretend that Funcom is removing an actual advantage here.

Funcom isn’t nerfing this because it is P2W, but because it’s perceived as P2W
No they aren’t. They are nerfing it because it was never intended to have 200 slots.
If they introduced a new free cabinet to the base game and accidentally gave it 200 slots instead of 40, then said they were going to fix it, people would be whining about them nerfing that too even though it was an unintentional mistake. The exclusive placeable side of this issue only makes the whole thing worse, but it isn’t even relevant to the base issue.

Yes, because fixing an unintentional mistake turns into a nerf after a while. The only one to blame for this whining is Funcom with their slow release cadence.

I never mentioned any bugs and have been stacking chests for years without issue. If I can stack chests, I can also stack ACC’s.

i would never speak realistically in a game where things like dragons and frost giants exist…
I said the same when horses were OP and needed balance adjustments. Some people insisted on realism. I do that now too.

The only advantages Arcane Curio Cabinet has are:

We shall disagree on this. I think it’s pretty ugly.
