Armour temp bonuses not working correctly

Game mode: [Online |
Problem: | Bug
Region: Oceanic

Noticed today while up north that my epic flawless Yamatai Demon Armour was making me more cold than being naked?? I understand that Yamatai demon is good for heat but that doesn’t mean it should be causing frostbite up north where I can run around with my jiggly bits out and only be cold/very cold at worst. This seems really wrong.

Heat resistance is making you more vulnerable to cold. It is game structure.

It shouldn’t work like that at all. Just because something is heat resistant does not make it more vulnerable to cold than something that isn’t heat resistant. Especially not my nude self lol :joy: I don’t care what clothes your wearing unless they are made of ice than it makes no sense that a particular set of clothes is giving me frostbite while my naked self is only very cold. That’s straight up stupid and makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.

I agree but that’s how it has been. I HAVE mixed hot and cold armor seems to balance when using vitality perk.

It is built that way for game play balancing and choices. It is no more stupid than carrying 20,000 iron ore, or re-spawning at your bed after being cut in half (like it was some sort of bad dream you just had). It is all done to steer players in certain directions with choices.

You will also find that clothing that you would normally think makes you warm in the cold, actually makes you frostbite in semi-cold areas like New Asgarth. Pictish warchief heavy armor has a lot of fur and looks very warm. Nope. It will give you frostbite in the highlands if it is epic flawless.

Thank you I will try this

Lol in no way is wearing clothes making you more cold than being naked balanced :joy::joy: not even close. But I understand the mechanic now and it’s got easy work around.

If you are wearing a wet T-Shirt, it would make midday desert summer stroll more bearable. It would probably kill you if you were wearing it outside in the middle of winter.

Yes and so would being naked!!! Of course there will be particular examples but none of these exist in the game so :man_shrugging:t2::man_facepalming:t2::joy: where do I find the wet T-shirt again?? Is that a purge armourer?

Depends…

A thin cloth for heat protection (more from sun rays) isnt as cold resist. Its just letting cold air thru, then holding heat in. If your not counting what volcanoist wear near volcanos these days. XD

Naked part is hit or miss… in cold section. Its game thou, and its how stats work out.
re programing all clothes to function exactly how they could work… is over doing it?

Wearing thin t-shirt on summer day works, its not gonna protect in cold really. Inless your talking if we have wind, or even low windchill. And any protection might help a few seconds.

being naked is just default stats thou… its a game. If we wanted realism in armors protections… we’d be haunch over in snow shivering like cry babies in north till we think were warm, get naked and die of hypothermia, and starting on fire entering the volcano. (dependin on lava and area around it…you can get close, but going that close… we’d need really better protection)

sometimes realism can go fudge itself.

Heck, we can start poking holes in Vanir earring giving cold protection?

I’m just gunna let all this go. Lol you people are simply putting WAY too much thought in. Clothes should not make me die from frostbite if I’m warm when naked. Period. There’s is no logical argument to be had. :man_facepalming:t2::joy::joy: I’m not talking about what armour makes me warm or cold. Just the fact that my clothes are freezing me too death but if I take them off and run around nude I’m fine. If you can find logic in that than I’m glad I don’t think like you.

@Darkzombie
I gots some logic for this!

Your thristy, and take a swig oh water, buts opps, you dribble all over your thin cloth that was preventing you from burning or whatever… but nows its cold!!! and do to thin cloth, it freezes and is quickly effecting you skin! Getting frozen shirt off is important! its only gonna insulate the cold making it worse.
Time get Naked!

There, logic added. =3

None of these are in game mechanics :man_facepalming:t2: Give me an example of something that is possible to do in game that brings logic to this situation.

I didn’t spill my drink. I’m not dumb so I managed to walk outside my house without getting wet. I’m now freezing to death. Hang on let me pull all my dry clothes off. Now I’m warm. :joy::joy::joy::joy::joy::joy:

I’m just going to poke my nose in here. First I’ve never worn it or seen in real life but I bet you could get colder in this then if you were naked. Like wearing a freezer in freezing weather?

Colder yes. Frostbite as opposed to warm. No chance. There are bound to be a few examples where this “logic” may work for some but all in all it just does not work for me. The few minuscule examples aren’t enough to make it sensible. It’s not a big thing at all, but I can’t make it work in my head for me.

Yeah the logic in real world practice doesn’t work but neither do a lot of things in the game such as eating to heal yourself. Or taking a potion to cure bleeding.

I would say that I agree with the mechanic for hot weather and cold weather armor causing issues in the wrong places. Otherwise you’d just go everywhere in the same armor. Just seems to easy.

I completely agree with the theory and the mechanic I just think it’s implemented a little extreme. As I said it went from frostbite to very cold. It’s in no way a big deal it’s as easy as taking a variety of foods and the two shields that resist temp. It just seemed off.

You’re playing a video game that has dragons, undead, ghosts and snake people - and yet you’re worried that your clothes are acting funny?

Simple explanation: the clothes are magic.

Don’t think too hard on it, move on. Find more magical clothes to fix your magic problem.
