At What Point is it Reasonable to request Refund?

Not for the game
It’s in a playable state, for this one at least.

No, this is in regards to items from the Black Lotus Bazaar.
Before anyone comes in with the ToS says Funcom is never legally culpable
This one isn’t asking when a legal case exists. This one is asking what others think is reasonable and polite.

There are numerous examples of questionable concerns. A Person purchased an emote pack, unaware that those emotes don’t work for the Thrall. That this isn’t clarified in the item description may be a cause for complaint? A different person purchased a Cleaver weapon skin. But it is for a one handed rather than two handed weapon like they thought it was. No lie was spoken in the advertisement, yet pertinent data as to what to product could be used for was absent.

But let’s get to the crappiest (and most specific) of examples this one is concerned about.
The Latrine.
It’s clearly advertised as included in the pack. It exists in the Admin panel. Having purchased the pack, this one has every right to expect that the item can be crafted, placed, or at the very least admin spawned as a back up option. And yet…
Bugs happen. But when they happen with transactions, some urgency in their correction is fair to expect, no?
This is a known issue. It has been for a plurality of weeks. The pack was left on market as is. There has been no update as to when this issue will be solved. Edit: removed inaccurate complaint that there was no statement that the issue was intended to be resolved

At what point is it Reasonable to request and expect renumeration (in the currency of purchase, so Crom Coins) for something that was either advertised false or was a known bug allowed to slide and has not been corrected?

The problem with this is they don’t put enough information - i think it would be reasonable at this point to ask for refund. Its their job to include description for each items, if you go to store you don’t buy blindly with covered eyes.

At this point if I was in Norway I would have bought used toilet bowl and send it to FUNCOMs office.

I have contacted Funcom about return policies but they do not answer any emails. Worst customer service i’ve seen.

At any point in time from the purchase for the entire remaining of one’s lifetime.

Whether you get it or not is another story given the conditions involved. But that won’t happen unless you take the steps to do so. Most don’t.

You are asking around their holiday time off. If the full staff is even back in the office by this point, they probably have a backlog of stuff from when they weren’t.

Totally agree.
Unless you try to see Bad Bunny in concert in Mexico. Or Taylor Swift in Denver, or fly Southwest Airlines for Christmas.

I would say 30 days but I would also have a much tighter control within the coding to back this up…meaning that if you return it, Ok but every aspect of this that you made with it is deleted and gone. Contents (if any) left in lootbags.

Id say wait till next big patch if no toilet by then and if it’s not mentioned in the patch notes then I would consider that reasonable time.

https://forums.funcom.com/t/aquilonian-bathhouse-bundle-missing-recipe/216222?u=narelle

This was posted a day before Christmas. Many take holidays over Christmas. Honestly, I don’t understand the urgency of fixing a damn cosmetic toilet. It will be fixed, probably faster than far more important issues than this. I understand the whole I paid money, I want my stuff but have a little patience. And yeah, that new guy they hired ■■■■■■ a lot of people off but people are also to blame for falling for it.

Look, I’m not one of those people who will say “don’t go on a break” or “work during your break to fix an emergency”. I’m really not.

But there’s a reason why “don’t push poorly tested changes before going on a break” is not really a novel concept in software development in general.

I mean, I didn’t buy the bathhouse bundle and I’m not personally upset by the absence of the crapper, but I would’ve been pissed if my Sanctum set didn’t allow me to place the double gate and the only reply I got was “oopsie, our bad, see you after holidays, toodle-oo”.

And it’s not just the whole “I paid for it, I want my shіt(ter)”, either. I was pissed off at them for how long they dragged their feet with the legendary armor patch kit fix, too.

I mean, come on, it’s the low-hanging fruit, how hard is it to squeeze it into a sprint?

We both know that this is how it is with them and we have been here long enough to know that it is unlikely to change. Things like that happen and will continue to happen. Even their CM act like it is the first time they hear about issues that have been reported over and other again. It puzzles me how it is possible for them to not have a system to check if this is a known issue or a new bug. At least the crapper doesn’t crash the game or drop your FPS like that mirror.

I only can agree with the whole post. Every issue you mention should be reasonable to refund at least. If I wouldn’t know that funcom has their problems with realising stuff and fixing it I would think they are scamming us.
My strategy at the moment is i don’t buy anything that is bugged or in a not clarified state. I missed the bath set… I would buy it if there where no problems with the latrine.
I would like to have this alternative thrall cage. But in my eyes it’s to expensive… Need more information and videos… Maybe later if its work fine. If there is any problem I expect that it could be that funcom never release a fix.

How it looks in the bazar after the bath set is gone? Have anyone a real prof that you buy it with the latrine included? There is no list of items I have owned. That is not nice…

I don’t know if funcom does refunds and don’t know how law thinks about this. But at least you buy only crom coins and the rest of the action you do in the Bazaar is gameplay without any real purchase.

and never forgett the climbing bug we have since 1 year :). I mean sometimes when i play the game it it like i wait 15 mins till the server is finisch loading and i can play thewn i want to go on my horse ohh i must try it 20 times then i can ride my horse than after that i knock out a thrall but he falls through the floor nice. Then i climb a bit and have big problems to reach the top o f athe hill i climb the i want to jump down and lost 90% of my health because im using double jump and it causes some problems with falling down a hill and grabbing him. After that i fight a few npc and only see they running in the oposite direction or teleporting around and after all af that im going offline bceause the game experience i had was from an beta game.

They invited people affected by the issue to submit tickets. It makes me wonder why. Perhaps it is possible to get a refund on your coins just not a refund on the money spent to buy the coins as you get a msg saying that when you purchase coins but nothing when you spend them. Has anyone tried?

This one hasn’t tried yet.
This one is trying to see how long the community thinks a reasonable amount of time to be patient is before escalating to such a response.

This one’s urge is immediate and harsh when dealing with this sort of thing. Far too harsh to share on such a family friendly forum. However, this one knows that they are frequently unreasonable, and is trying to ask the reasonable (and otherwise) members of the community what an expected amount of patience is.

Obviously Funcom knows there is a problem. How long would you be willing to wait for the missing pieces of your purchase, especially when it is revealed that the merchant knew the pieces were missing at the time of transaction?

If Funcom knows there is a problem, there is no point in merely drawing attention to the problem, the only question is when it is appropriate to take the next step.

To say nothing of the interesting loops one may go through, depending upon platform, when seeking redress.

Also, @Narelle, gratitude for the link. This one has corrected their initial post in light of previously missed information.

Funcom has an incentive to patch these things quickly: if you recall the phenomenon from PS3 and PS4 days where we would wait until the game was “shaken loose” and often on sale at GameStop. Unless these Bazaar issues are addressed with a quickness, I myself will start taking regular passes until the thing has come around again. It already happened with the Stormglass set, and not deliberately either.

Thank you for being mature about it. To answer your question, what is reasonable is subjective. For example, if I had bought the arcane bookshelf for the slots and then it was fixed because apparently it was a “bug” that it had this many slots, I would have asked for a full refund right away since the item was no longer the item I bought and changed without my consent. I was slow in buying it so I didn’t have to go through the process. Now on the other hand, if the issue is that the latrine in a set I bought for the bath tub is not working, then considering it happened over the holidays, I would give them a few weeks to fix it before I decide how to proceed. This one is tricky because if you ask for refund you may get it but then you lose the bath tub which is the reason I bought the set for. I would probably ask for a partial refund due to inconvenience caused. If on the other hand you bought the set for the latrine, you are in your right to ask for a refund right away and then you can repurchase is if they fix it eventually.

As long as you can justify your refund request, it should be considered. In the end you are not asking for your money back, you are asking them to refund your purchase so that you can buy something else or lose your money (if you never spend the coins).

Part of the problem is that people are buying in the dark.
FCs master of the BP and Bazaar has no clue how to detail describe the items and obviously no idea how programming and bugs effect digital content.
I bought the bath set because I wanted the tub and the bathrobe, I could care less if I ever have a toilet in this game, but it was still handled poorly by Funcom in my opinion.
If they want to play retailer, then they need to play by retailer rules, and set up a refund system for these fubar items. Only then will they start taking this retail business seriously.
I say there should be no time limit on a refund, especially if the product is defective, or fails to meet the customers expectations.

It is a great challenge, acting mature.
A role this one is both unaccustomed to and singularly unsuited to. A more counter intuitive arrangement is hard to imagine.
However, results must be of paramount importance and this one knows they are not always the best judge of what is reasonable and expected, especially in matters specific to the modern world (read: digital currency and goods).
While a tantrum and troller coaster online can be cathartic at times… Asking a question in bad faith only diminishes the chances of getting honest and useful answers in the future. It’s hard for all of us to have greater insight than any one of us when we are all just snarking and sniping.

Digression.

In other threads this one has down right pontificated the importance of things fitting together as a whole. That is often the Crux of an issue. If this one has paid to placate their somewhat persnickety particulars, this one gets very vexed when gratification is other than instantaneous and consumate.

When you said a couple weeks, do you mean a couple weeks from the issue being noted, or would we cut out the week of Wintereenmas because we aren’t monsters who expect people to be toiling thru holidays (this one is aware not all Wintereenmas holidays fall on the same week but there are a few clumped together there and everyone deserves their Holy Days). In other words, should those two weeks become three due to the particulars of timing.
Yes this is very subjective, but that is what this one wants. Subjective opinions from other thinking entities whose judgment may be more (because this one doubts few are less)… understanding… of such situations.
