I have to restart entirely as I am on the wrong type of server though based off the settings I thought I wasn’t, so with that being said is there a good location in literally any area? My ideal locations l would be in the hot lion king zone, the desert with natural defenses, or winter region. Or a area with lots of dark natural atmospheres. I don’t care about the difficulty or the jungle. Or obviously I’ll take suggestions, but my priorities are natural defenses with food or water or even more importantly iron ore. Hopefully someone can help me.
Build up on the southern aqueduct expecially the area close to the city 
i built a base up there because it looked cool and all the purges I get spawn below my base because they can’t path there way to the stairs

At the beginner area but literally juuuust before you leave it I believe is an excellent island I use rather often. Map location is P 21-22 Q 21-22.
Big island. Has a little pond in the middle, and a good 3rd of the island is actually raised, making it super easy to build walls that only need to be a few grids high and still be a pain to scale. One point of access to the raised portion of the island, perfect size to build a mean gate right in the middle that’ll do the job plenty.
Got a few rock spires that go up a good ways, if you’re good at building into the sides of rockfaces, you can make some kick ■■■ trebuchet spots or your house if you want.
Right to the north is two backhand camps that spawn t3 somewhat regularly. Not the best thrall but you can fill in spots easy till you make a map room and have easy access to the north, otherwise skin all of them as you kill them for more hide then you can carry. The Passage isn’t to far either so you could walk to the north as well. Biggest for me is the huge deposit of iron sitting at the base of the black hand camp. You can see it from the island. I can net 180 with a stone pick, and drastically more with higher tier picks, as well as the massive deposits of iron hiding inside the jungle areas near by, youll be set for iron most the time. Coal isn’t a bad trek if you head northwest. (Can’t remember the exact grid rn.) Shell backs wander the southern side of the island and surrounding areas. Easy food. Stone, trees and the like are everywhere as the biome is switching from desert oasis to jungle. Dead wood for bark too.
Some cons (kinda).
There are the big lizards all at the lower part of the island. They give ichor though so I enjoy the easy grind, and the meat and hides as well from them. A named exile thrall wanders through the lower portion as well, but both stay to the lower part.
It is a distance from some places.
A fairly high traffic area too. A cool, chill server or solo and that ends up being a non issue mostly.
If you’re curious bout what else is around it just say and I’ll answer what I can. But I think it’s a pretty nice spot.

I’ll give it a look sounds like what I want.
From the description of this Island it look likes the Island in J5-k5. There is no coordinates beyond 17 and beyond P on the game map.

Oh hey, you’re right. I used a map I found online for coordinates (I wasn’t at my console lol.) and it looks like it was made for zeroing on resources and not the actual map used in game. J5 is where it is.

Okay my nets been down a bit so lmfao I’ll be sure to check would anyone no or have any idea of all the locations you can’t build on because on offline mode I couldn’t build on the black galleon until I set the admin rights. So I was curious because there were some really hot spots I wanted. But couldn’t tell being I was using admin plus fly which is slow to check out the suggestions which the first one is really neat. But I like to keep options open.
PvP or PvE? Because they differ vastly. For PvP, best defense is not having a big base… keep it compact and well hidden. For PvE try to keep purges funneled to 1~3 sides, just not all sides. Smaller bases it’s easy to keep only small vulnerable area that you can heavily defend. Large bases, you can build on tall areaa cliff. That way your back is covered at least. There are many defensible areas throughout the map, so you can choose based on available resources, beauty, and other advantages.
I can make a lot of areas work it just depends on. PvP server I am on no one actually found me until recently and my area isn’t actually all that good after I inspected it a tad more and even I could sure up the issues it was my thralls not doing their jobs. While I was offline. So I decided now never needed most likely my own and then just gotta work out a nice spot natural defense hopefully along with good spots for a archer firing squad. Lol. I had at least 12 greater pets and a fleet of black hand captains but got offline raided and they wiped most of them. Somehow they got in to my house during no building damage and stole the stuff of my back. Which makes no sense.
On another note PvE or PvC sounds fun on my off time how difficult is the purge or how hard can get it to be honest the first time was a joke. Naked people who are hungry should attack a lot harder than they did. I did most of the world never needed my thralls.
I just learned how difficult it became to try and defend such a big base even if it was made out of the best material and when a swarm of 5 people come to a clan of 1 lol!!! So now natural defense is the only priority. Also does anyone know the throw range of a orb compared to a archer AI aiming and shooting range?
You can test it offline. But archer has a much bigger range than orb arc, that’s for sure. That said thralls don’t do too much damage unless you got a horde of archers moving in waves.
As for natural defenses green wall is also considered one. You cross it, you die. It’s the second best natural defense available. #1 is stealthy base that is nearly impossible to detect. For example, a small base tucked in under and in between rock formation that’s in the middle of a lava in Volcano. You’d use a drawbridge that you carry around in your inventory to get in and out.
