That is an issue.
This one would also suggest that the deific hamster ball should hedge out hostile magics. It makes as little sense that it doesn’t ward against sorcery as the fact that it does turn aside arrows.

They used to be active all the time, when the game was first released. It was very different - scouting was much more risky (and I found it more fun). But thralls weren’t immune to damage. So if you lacked subtlety, you could massacre someone’s thralls to scout their defences.

Ok, hold on. I think I need some clarification here.
From what I understand, the bat will drop you after taking basically very little damage, so wouldn’t just posting a few archers take care of that?
As for the ice bridge, when I was playing around with it I found that going up into the air resulted in it not going very far at all and practically speaking you only have just a little over enough time to cast a second bridge before the first collapses. In the meantime you’re standing around waving your magic stick in the air like you’re saying “someone come and get me”. And as I understand it it’s also rather fragile, so again, some archers could probably knock it down?
I’m going to go play around with them a bit and see what’s what, but for right now I’m not really seeing a big issue that a few minor adjustments in building design or guard composition won’t solve.
Yeah Bat and ice bridge are very strong towards certain bases but those bases if built correctly were always a disgusting task to raid.
30-50 layers of cren, easily repairable mid raid, spamming fresh foundations and crens down a pillar.
Put down the repair hammer and building pieces and pick up a weapon and kill the attackers or get wiped.
I really don’t feel like either of them are OP. I have watched videos on YouTube and seeing them countered pretty easy. The only people playing with these two items in the game are people on test live. It hasn’t even been released to the dozens in the wild yet. So to say that they’re OP. Is saying I don’t like changes.
Both of your solutions require going outside a base. Thus its a no-go. The ‘balanced counter’ should be a thatch roof that can survive 4-5 days straight of raid times without tending or repair. Otherwise they will drop in by the hundreds and bomb your base so hard your real life house will collapse around you. ![]()
Ok, got the chance to play around a little with them. Keep in mind, this is just fiddling around in a single player setting.
First I built a wall and sent an ice bridge at it. Just a simple wall four or five wall tiles high and a ceiling tile for the top. Nothing fancy. Yeah, if you get close enough you can create a nice ramp that goes up to the top of it. But it only takes one hit to knock down pieces of the bridge. Not sure if the AI is smart enough to target the bridge, but they are definitely smart enough to target you while you’re trying to build it, so there’s that. I tried with crenelated and non crenelated and just a flat top.
The bridge always seemed to connect at the same part of the wall too, whether I aimed at the top of the crenelated/fence section or at the point where the ceiling tile was. Maybe there’s something to that, but I’ll leave that for the PvP folks who obsess over finding every little quirk and flaw that they can exploit.
I was a little bit too far away at one point and ended up having to cast the bridge a second time to make the connection. Of course that’s a lot of time standing on what is essentially a neon blue pedestal waving your arms in the air.
Next I tested the bat. Simple enough test. Just summoned the bat and flew over a darfari camp that contained a few archers. That would more or less duplicate the basic effect of flying over someone’s base protected by archer thralls, even if only a few weak ones. I also made sure god mode was turned off just in case.
First observation, they had trouble hitting me. Even when I just coasted in one direction right over the camp, they would make contact maybe one out of five times at best.
Second, when the arrows did make contact, they hit me, not the bat. As a result I couldn’t see what happens when the bat gets hit.
Ultimately, despite making numerous passes over the area and getting hit several times, I did not get knocked out of the sky. What this means is that yes, it probably could easily get you over someone’s wall or onto their roof. Getting back out is likely a different story though, since now you’re in the middle of things without having first breached the wall or reducing the number of guards. Not to mention it won’t actually help you get into any enclosed areas. Just on top of them. So I remain skeptical about it’s OPness.
So there you have it. Just some casual observations on my part, but I’m still not getting the big OP vibe from either spell at this time.
Thrall ai is terrible. Not to mention a clan can fly to your roof before raid time keep quiet and start dropping bombs right at raid. In pvp official it’s common for people to get on right at raid or soon after if they are relatively active. Let’s say the defender is lucky enough to log in right at raid and see 5+ players who have already bypassed all of the defenders walls and anti climb.
Again I struggle to see why FC would knowingly make arrows, anti climb and defense walls pointless. It seems silly that peoples counter is to really on a buggy AI archer to save the day.
Again all your tests are assuming the attacker is flying above your base during raid time and that thralls work as intended.
Build right, bombs cant be placed on certain pieces. I get it this limits builds but for every offense there is a defense to delay until the best defense(offense) gets there
And arrows, again if you build right, theyll kill themselves just as fast as they punch through
I’m not worried about how I will survive at all. For me pillar bases are obsolete. I’ll build in caves again. I’m worried about the new players and the toxicity that this will bring. Listen it’s a new feature we will see how it goes. I know people are excited about it but if you are excited for the purpose of cheesy raid mechanics then you are a cheesy player. I just don’t see why these mechanics should ignore land claim. A fix that wouldn’t effect pve would be great.
Im probably one of the most honorable pvpers there is, our bases in my clan are usually max 3 thick, just because we love the fight, we dont fight solos, noobs, or newbies on the server,. unless they keep kicking the hornets nest so to speak, but i see this change as all others, a new meta, a new adapt to survive challange, a new way of life ig
I was just saying: theres a trick to almost everything, discovering it and fine tuning it is part of the fun
Sure there is but what’s the trick to get your archers to shoot out of a bubble to stop a flying bay from dropping 10 people on top of your base? Or to stop the same people from doing the same thing 10 minutes before raid and you are t on yet? I can’t see myself changing my mind on this one. unfortunately we will see and have to wait months for a fix once this drops.
3 layers thick all good and well but that’s assuming you are online to fight. If you aren’t I can assure you 3 layers thick will last about 3 minutes.
Well, i cant answer that. Our clans is on (meaning one person is there to alert the others at minimum) and during our off times - during busy business seasons we reitre from pvp ( a break from it) but typically from expirience, i can tell you that most offline raiders lack skill, if your on and off during the week and someone raids you on the off, go and make them pay for it, there have been times we logged off early and got raided, but we came back at them ( these were mostly people we beat in open fields)
that just crazy, i cannot understand how they can introduce things like that, anybody that play the games and have a minimum experience know what it means
and anyways if you have a god bubble, even during raid time your archer on roof will do nothing. but you are right, ia of thralls have so much problem in siege defence that you can be lucky to see archer reacting, and seeing thralls as a problem and a need to nerf them is just beyond any comprehension due to ia problem in siege mecanism.
Noting that the AI is targeting the player rather than the conveyance is solid Intel.
That may be something that should be addressed.
This one’s last fly over test did feature a clipping of the bat wings, but that might have been a missed shot on the part of the NPC instead catching the wider target above.
What about lightning? Lightning is capable of destroying random parts of a base!
I got it boys. Just don’t have a base! live out of a body vault and stressfree raid other people!!! wooooooooooh
that will exactly be the only solution which means newbies will be totally abused.
no base, wait for offlline easy loot as now even easier to raid (and in actual version this is already too easy), but on 3.0 it’s just free loot. they even did a spell that allow to tp your dead body with full inventory to your base, so don’t even have to bother to go back with your loot to your base…this is end of pvp in conan.
a video did by a youtuber that show broken mecanism for pvp
