The double walls from tier 12 of the battle got 140k hp, 140% OF A FOUNDATION. That is beyond unnacceptable.
Oh wow. I didn’t even check. Guess i’ll confirm tonight
If that’s the case, I would strongly recommend opening a bug report.
It’s not a bug, it’s intended this way, because it’s “DOUBLE” and funcom said that we also need double hp right?
You know…I can fully see that rationale…SMH.
nah, i put pvp tag
Which walls specifically and where has Funcom said its intended?
Are we talking about the sandstone walls?
No, they’re talking about arcane reinforced window, which has 140k HP as opposed to 70k HP that a normal wall has. I imagine that Funcom’s logic was “it’s twice as high, so give it double HP”.
However, that logic is debatable.
The material cost for the arcane reinforced window is the same as a foundation (14 hardened bricks, 4 shaped wood, 3 steel reinforcements), but a foundation has only 100k HP. For comparison, the material cost for a reinforced stone gateway is 30 hardened bricks, 8 shaped wood, and 6 steel reinforcements (double the foundation), it’s 4 blocks wide and 3 blocks tall, and it has the same HP as the arcane reinforced window (140k HP). Lastly, two reinforced stone walls will have the exact same size as an arcane reinforced window, and the same cumulative HP (70k x 2 = 140k), but the total cost will be 16 hardened bricks, 4 shaped wood, and 4 steel reinforcements, slightly higher than the arcane reinforced window.
On balance, the arcane reinforced window seems to be slightly more advantageous than the non-BP building pieces, and the only drawback is that two walls will give you better redundancy when it comes to the stability of any pieces attached to it, but that’s all.
Would you call that slight advantage P2W? It sounds a bit hyperbolic to me, but I’ll leave it to those who play on PVP servers.
Walls and windows aren’t really common targets in PVP. Doors and ceilings are more common. Add to that its size/footprint, and it’s really not that bad. Once the current plagues of PVP servers are dealt with (not going to discuss them here), we can take a look at who’s building with what to see if the advantage holds enough benefit to warrant using them.
It sounds like someone taking a small arguably legit issue and amping it up to 11 to make it out like its massively unbalanced to serve their own agenda personally.
Citation needed.
I fully agree. As funcom has stated the items are meant to be cosmetic, thus the idea that they are intended to be double the HP of other items of the exact same quality and type is clearly not what is intended.
This is why @CodeMage suggested that you file a bug report, as this is clearly an oversight at the least and a bug at the most. At either rate, a bug report would still be the best course of action.
Now, CodeMage went ahead and broke down the numbers and sure, there may very well be some slight advantage here, so there aught to be some slight adjustments made (likely to the coast of construction) to make it more in line with the rest of the pieces. No item in the BP or BLB should have any advantage over any vanila item in the game so pointing things like this out are vital to the health of the game. Thank you @cyosth for bringing this to light.
people who use tunnel bases which with bats now is probably the best your gonna get, an extra 40k on each layer is a big thing (people dont use doors so much because you can just remove with full material cost so all walls go up come pvp time)
I thought fully refundable walls WERE doors?
Are PvP players really the type to build windows on their houses though?
Like… admiring the view and all… getting robbed through the window? bombs placed inside through the window?..
Unless there’s a solid wall with the same HP, I would call this yet again a “pay to lose” instead…
Generally speaking, we call such players “Nooblets” and “Easy Prey”
I can already see the PvP base entirely made of windows being the new meta
I would layer it. Foundation, wall, foundation wall, foundation, wall. Actually wedge, wall, wedge, wall, wedge, wall…the amount of explosives you would need to travel 10 meters would be significant. Definitely an unintentional p2w effect and therefore bug report.
the walls are not steal through
You’re right, I just tried it, it has bars on it and they appear to be functional anti-theft! Still… I can kinda see inside which is still not that great, hmm idk
I put an armorer bench right up against it, but no stealing!
Ah so it functions like stormglass windows. Honestly, I want more stuff like that. I’m a PVPer, sure, but aesthetics are life
