Indeed, it is. And that’s exactly why we, the consumers, need to make a stand against that kind of monetization if we want it to stop. Ultimately, companies make their marketing decisions based on what produces the highest profits.
I’ve bought a lot of “exclusive” stuff over the decades. In fact, these miniatures I painted were very exclusive, only one limited production run was ever made. But I would not feel any sense of loss or unfairness if another run was made for general availability - I still got mine first, I enjoyed painting them, and the price was fair.
Enjoying something only because some other people can’t have the same thing feels kinda petty. The more people who have access to the same stuff, the more people with whom I can share the enjoyment.
