I’m an on-and-off player that hops on Exiles to build settlements every update, and play for another 100 hours. Going to set up an Argossean river city, and looking at builds online for inspiration, wondering where they got those funky curved roofs. Turns out, they got them in the Bazaar. Fair enough, the DLC itself was on sale, I could support Funcom some more for a favourite game of mine. Oh wait, it’s not there? The Bazaar rotates? Why? You guys really want me to log on to check if the particular set I want is even available? I turned the game off the second I saw the build I was hoping to create is literally impossible. I would buy the pack instantly if it were available. But rather, Funcom decides to capitalize on FOMO to get players to buy fast, and to log in more often to make sure they aren’t missing out.
You don’t need to log into the Bazaar every day to check for build pieces, just check the timers on the other tiles and log in when they rotate.
Or Funcom could make them all available to purchase. The rotation is there so that you’re incentivized to buy as soon as you see what you want, using FOMO to try and get you to purchase impulsively. I get that there are solutions, but Funcom made the problem on purpose
I love when people say FOMO to everything and dont really know what FOMO even is.
I sympathise with your frustration. I have been waiting for the Aesir building set since around the end of May, and apparently the last time it was available just so happened to be earlier in May right before I started keeping an eye out for it. So it’s been almost 6 months by now of checking the Bazaar every refresh, hoping for it to show up so I can build with it.
I scarcely remember the original things I wanted to build; it’s like muscle memory checking if it’s finally up by now. It is quite honestly rather ridiculous at this point, and I wouldn’t have started checking on refreshes if I had known how long it would take to get the few items I want. Sunk cost fallacy keeps me looking with how much time I spent already, that and that I rather like this game and still wish I could get it.
Really, really wish it was just a normal store. It would certainly get more money out of this customer, that’s for sure. Unfortunately, I don’t think they will change it and there’s not much you can do if you want it, other than wait and check the bazaar all the time, which is not an experience I’d recommend to others.
