Big City Disappeared Overnight [Lost stability]

Theres currently no separation of rules in Conan. One rule set to rule them all.

However, if you recall, one of us advocated for seperate rules, then youd be making some good points in this thread regarding PvE servers.

you are totally right, this is how it looked on officials before the rules

I honestly don’t give a flying fornication about PVP in Conan. I’ve played better browser based base raiding games. You agree to those rules every time you log in.

Thats fine that you dont care about pvp. But because you dont, you will never see why pvp’ers argue against you when it comes to rules, because nothing you advocate for, in terms of rules, is necessary on pvp servers. You quote and use Ark’s PvE ruleset which are similar when it comes to blocking and griefing, which should be in place for pve, we can agree.

But there is no need for many of the building rules on pvp serves, which I think is part of what Anderson is arguing.

Im sorry more i really get very angry when i tried to explain and you understand it wrong going in another way if you check i copy my quote almost 3 times to maybe you understand but maybe it the way i writed or how the translator give the words.
we all want the game go in the right direction i just posted because the guy lost he builds with no explain or warnings and when a player get banned lose something and dont know why in most cases he move to another game.

I main play ark now more i played conan many years i moved to ark after the nerf from thralls and when the game begin to get heavy lagged for everyone and when i talk about they looking for the rules from others games and copy it is for improve and stop it useless punishiment from new players and in some cases old players.

Im sorry if i was rude and if i didnt explain it best.

Not sure… it had a couple gates, some braziers, and a bridge. So it had some illegal stuff anyway to keep my neighbors from encroaching. The bridge was put in for a friendly clan that was using the area to get across the water. It was a busy area, so yeah… also, it was there for over a year, but as soon as Age of Sorcery screwed up all the loading times and things were crashing regularly, suddenly my build was a problem I guess. Two other clans got wiped that same day.

I deffer all PVP issues to you. I don’t play it so my opinion of it is not pertinent.

Go henceforth, then. And collect thy … ahem … flying fornication.

EDIT: Oh, wait. You’re still holding on to that. Because you did not give it. :stuck_out_tongue:

Yeah, I’m sure you would love to see the ToS go away on PvP servers so you can wall off the oboliks and camp them to kill anyone who didn’t realize you had done so and kill them with your buddies while they were loading in and had no means of escape. Or any other such nonsense you can come up with that would be dealt with by the current ToS, but sure, keep up pretending that you have the “high ground” and are just “defending the poor pvp players” from the “evil pve players and their draconian ToS rules”.

I’d also love to point out that:

I know you are not new to this game so you really shouldn’t have to be told this but I suppose you have to be anyway. That “subpar technology running the game” that is “causing the lag” is called g-portal. So unless you are suggesting that the entire Conan Exiles playerbase suddenly switches over to singleplayer (which would make your beloved pvp rather difficult wouldn’t it) then yeah… try to think a little bit harder before you type such things.

Alot of it yes, especially the building side of it. Considering how if a clan did this:

It would kill a server, forcing people to play on other servers. To which if the goal is to kill a server, they win. There are hundreds of pvp servers. But, thats how I see it. We players have the means to deal with foundations on the map by blowing them up. I hate to inform you, but there are other ways of travelling the map that does not involve the obelisks. You may not recall a time when players had to run on foot much of the map.

Yeah thats quite the fairy tale you spun there. Aint happening, but youll find alot of pvpers that would agree that building rules on pvp servers are a rediculous idea, one that is not predicated by any other game.

Server lag yes. Client lag no. Does the average player know that when making a report? No.

Want to know why I said that the way I did? Ill enlighten.

Long ago, in one of the back and forths with Deacon, I brought up the topic of hardware that people played on and if that contributed to lag. I never specified client or server side, since it was purely a performance issue I was getting at.

I was able to test this a few months back when I got a 4090 on my computer, which timed perfectly with a discussion that was happening in the forums about massive builds causing lag. I forget who was talking in the forums about that, so I asked the server number. I went onto that server, and it had maybe 12-15 people on it. I asked in chat where the largest bases were, and the two that came up were Deserters Gutter and the Sinkhole. I went there and my game never had a single issue as things loaded in. Smooth as glass on my end.

Now, obviously the bases didnt pop and boom! instantly loaded, they loaded as they should. The whole reason behind this test was to see how good technology handled the game vs recommended vs crap. (My old card was a 2080ti and still ran the game fine in 4k, bit longer loading times, but 100% playable with no concerns.

Point being, your gaming rig or console matters. If a person has a low end rig or console, they may see a moderate base load in, their game slows, they get mad and report it.

I was able to happily disprove that and now can use that in discussions.

So,

…but maybe give some people credit when they know what they are talking about.

Oh there is no disputing that owning better tech will reduce the amount of player side lag. But unless you want the official public servers to be for the wealthy elite only who can afford to run out and upgrade their PC / Console at the drop of a hat because people cannot play by the ToS set forth by the company, then your argument is rubbish. The rules were not designed to say “build only this way UNLESS you happen to have the latest most expensive rig available then by all means built as large and resource heavy as you want” So yeah, you are pretty much showing the mentality of WHY the ToS is needed. Good on you.

Isn’t that what PVP is? Last clan on the server wins?
I mean isn’t PVE he who dies with the biggest hoard wins?
Or is it he who claims the most land

My issue with PVP in survival builders is this last clan standing crap. That is why I wont play PVP but will BRs. If your idea of PVP is last clan/man standing why play anything but BRs?

Give me 30 second with google and I’ll link you to a few. Right off with out google 7D2D limits your land claim and there are POIs you can’t build in.

That I would have to agree with, more experienced players can usually tell, but funcom took away the tool we had to measure that.

Massive builds do not cause player side lag, tons of animated ornamentation and lighting do. This was all settles before you got here. I remember CodeMage educating me on the subject

:man_facepalming:

If you ever do I will.

No I’m not saying that at all. What I’m getting at is a player with a decent rig builds a base and has zero issues with performance thinks there’s nothing wrong and is within the rules. A player with a subpar rig or older console walks by and their game lags, they will be the first to complain about a laggy base and report it, because a lot of people don’t realize the difference in server vs client lag.

That’s what I was getting at. Solution? Yeah better servers and more clear rules but neither one will ever happen in this game.

I’m thinking the rules were put in place because Funcom messed up big time with crappy servers. How many years did we go without the rules they have now? 3? 4? What changed?

I get that, but that is precisely how you win. Last man standing, even in BR games is the point. Now that doesn’t always mean forcing everyone off the server, it could merely mean destroying everything everyone builds to maintain dominance. And to others, merely winning a fight is good enough for them to “win” at PvP. Everyone is different, and welcome to the world where not everyone sees the exact same thing as you. Doesn’t make either of us right or wrong.

I’m not familiar with the pvp side of 7d2d, I only ever played on a private PvE server. From what i remember at that time, you could build anywhere except the traders, and away from you “main” base you could slap blocks down anywhere. Even in missions. Maybe that was just our server settings I don’t know. My point though is that for PvP, having the restrictions for building that are in Conan are rarely found in other PvP games. PvPers don’t want their gameplay throttled by building rules.

Some of us don’t want names flying through the air in certain places. It could be your best friend that denied the group invite. It could be somebody else needing attention.

The immersion is great… if you are not a “programmer”.

We can all agree on this! :100:

I think what he meant was the reason, not the people who reported. I highly doubt anyone wants that. But giving people the actual reasons for their suspension / deletions would actually teach them what they did wrong so that they do not continue to make the same mistakes where as a blanketed wipe/suspension with a generic “landclaim” as your only answer tells the player nothing useful what so ever. At least, what is my interpretation of what he meant by the part you had quoted.

Indeed. I would ask the judge to explain it, but the focus on liabilities is interesting here. You aren’t being ignored. They aren’t being ignored. No red herrings are left. ttyl
