If you mean Funcom, they donāt. Right from the beginning, they have made it clear that they make no money from server rentals.
Two things would solve 99.9% of the issues on official servers.
-
Make gods the nukes they used to be. Undermeshed bases no more.
-
Have an admin that can go around and ban players that are cheating/exploiting.
All problems solved.
- The Gods serve no purpose on PvE and PvE-C.
- Funcom refuses to admin the servers. Likely because it would be a full time job for one person.
True, but the Admin could go to the PVE and PVE-C servers and delete that spam, and ban those that are spamming.
But, I know, Funcom wont admin the officialsā¦even though that would solve the issue and keep the player base happy.
Only for PVPers. In PvE all it does is piss everyone off.
No way to report it, because it is game play.
It does that in PVP as well, although on pvp people can retaliate.
If you build on skyfall ridge, you take a chance on meteor damage.
What if the Shattered springs did acid damage to building pieces?
Or a random eruption?
It could still be walled, but would require more upkeep than just logging in everyday.
Out of curiosity, how many foundations away does a resource node need to be, to not be blocked by a foundation?
will funcom help us or should we give up playing it?
Why canāt they hire 1 more person onto their dev team to Admin the official Servers?
One wouldnāt be nearly enough. There are hundreds of official servers running 24/7. Even if that person acted only based on player reports, theyād still need to log in to the server, investigate the matter thoroughly (so as not to punish an innocent player who was reported maliciously), which takes time, and probably write a log about the action taken. On a normal work day a single admin could probably handle 5 - 10 cases depending on how obvious they are. And at least some of their time would be wasted by people reporting other players out of malice, or without a solid reason. Iām afraid that would only scratch the surface
I dont know what so hard, make it no build zone, like the caves and problem is solved.
Thatās not actually true. If they control it, they can take a few structures down in key spots, and in a very short amount of time, the Brim would respawn in that spot. Then they harvest it, and then build some foundations that, again. Nothing you can do about it.
The unrealistic swimming stamina drain makes farming Brim in the water, a pain in the rear. Slow swimming should not drain your stamina like that. I was a swimmer. I also went through BUD/s. I assure you that swimming does not drain your stamina like that, and you can literally float on the surface to recover your stamina when you do get winded. Having to return to the surface for a breathā¦sure thatās very realistic, obviously. But, the water harvesting is a pain. You want to do an encumbrance build when harvesting, which means 5th perk, and then 2nd perk in survival. That doesnāt leave a whole lot of points left for grit.
Bottom line is that for PvE and PvE-C, that lake should be a no build zone. Anything that can negatively affect gameplay, and the server community cannot do anything about, they should prevent through coding. So, no blocking Obiās, no blocking rare resources, no blocking bosses, no blocking lore, no blocking period. PvE shouldnāt be pseudo PvP through griefing and exploits. But that is usually the case on most survival game PvE servers.
A lot of people game Grapeshot grief, but at least they addressed the negative game play on PvE. People were using the max weight for ships mechanic by jumping onto peopleās ships while loaded with stone, thus overloading the ship, causing it to sink. They also did this with the max crew mechanic. So Grapeshot altered the code for PvE, making these things no longer affect the ship, but to punish you, you became locked in place one you stepped foot on that ship. So now, you were simply stuck, until you slowly died.
People also used other mechanics to exploit, so they fixed those also. It still wasnāt perfect, but it was a start.
The thing is, if the Devs created a TOS to cover game playā¦something reasonableā¦and then empowered even just one person to do the admin dutyā¦the majority of this would come to a screeching halt. People tend not to do what gets them banned from servers. It could be such that you get banned from a server, and then can get banned from a second, but after three bannings, you get banned from the game. Official servers anyway. Private servers have admins, so they can do what they want.

Put me in, Coach, Iām ready!
Youāre paying gportal not Funcom
A wall is easier to destroy than remove every single foundation that block a pile of brim. So yes it is simple to make it an unbuildable area.
Good tactic? Itās a noobish tactic. It makes people choose another server. Or farm brim under water instead.
