I’m sorry you feel that way and you’re welcome to stop playing for all I care. Sounds like you were playing modded on PC anyway, so you don’t even care about what us vanilla pve console players want anyway. So yeah… no sweat off my back.
This is the only issue I have with the new purge, which I ASSUME will be changing in due time once thralls get updated. Until then, we make due.
Under the old purge system (once I had a reasonable understanding of how it spawned and pathed) I had to build in specific locations and specific styles in order to get the purge to spawn correctly. I got it up to about 75% - but even with a proven design and location that had previously spawned multiple purges with all waves attacking from outside my base, sometimes I would just get a purge that spawned on my roof for no apparent reason (or on a random island with no physical connection to my base).
Under the new purge system (once I had a reasonable understanding of how it spawned and pathed) I had to build in specific locations and specific styles in order to get the purge to spawn correctly. So far I’m at 100% (but with a smaller sample size).
In the end, I don’t really care for either version. The new one seems a bit more effective in terms of waves of attackers rather than random groups walking about in the distance and often making little to no effort to approach the base - at least this lot seem to be attacking. But really, tower defense isn’t something this game is particularly set up for - it’s more about skirmishes than battles or hordes. Maybe it’s because I originally came to CE from 7d2d (which has plenty of faults of its own) - there a horde means a continuous running assault by a ‘never-ending’ stream of enemies targetting straight at you, not a few waves of enemies who will happily ignore you if it means they can get past (maybe they just would prefer to fight my thralls, given how rarely they fight back ). I dunno, just never seemed that interesting to me in either incarnation.
That said - the original system did have the advantage of unique thralls and more variety in the waves - hopefully the new system can get there in time.
You nailed it, the new purge is a tower defense mini-game straight ported from a mobile. The only difference is that mobile version is going to destroy you, here they cater to very low skill ceiling community so the purge is designed the way it reduces damage to minimum - and this sole things is the source of all the issues with it.
It was more interesting and it contributed a lot to overall atmosphere of the game.
There was that purge coming inevitably, for me it was easy, for someone else it was hard, but it was a cool content in a boring (PvE-wise) sandbox game that otherwise lacks content.
It’s been months since they removed the purge and myself and my friends still feel that something was removed, that something is missing now.
But it is what it is, they created a purge-free zones for poor gamers, there were easy purges in some southern biomes. But then they decided to punish players who were looking for a slightly harder challenge in the endgame biomes - nerfed enemies, removed the purge…
Funcom (it’s current CE team) does not understand progression in game, that things are supposed to become harder and harder as you progress through the game. It’s to keep player entertained as he becomes better and more skilled in the game. You get access to different resources and better tools and weapons, but also the enemies are becoming stonger.
Well, not in Conan Exiles. It was like that initially, but not anymore.
I think they should find a way to allow mods in the way they have the bazaar items as everyone regardless of buying them can see them, I would love mods that provide a bit more freedom than the stupid asinine ESRB ratings allow.
Regarding darketo I wish theh would bring back the God possession summoning in official server however reduce the scale of the size of them for official servers only, I truly miss this feature regardless of the downside it brought with it prior, but a human size, or Giant thrall size would be wonderful to play around with.
The old purge had issues because of the way buildings were built and the location of the building, it was something that could have been easily addressed, the thralls that loaded in again another thing that could have been addressed, but this was also the days of invisible enemies, ironically I am seeing some in the current day but have no way of showing proof until June10th when I actually don’t have a modern 90s phone…
Purge system should also have had a difficulty system based on the amount of blocks placed as they keep count of this ingame which easily could assessed if the game gave dogs, or T4 thralls.
Must be nice to be on a pc. Lol I loved the build up, building, killing, harvesting, enslaving the locals nearby, all added to it I believe otherwise may have only been when building but god I miss it.
This is why I believe that the purge spawning should have been a random location near the base but spread out, an the location choice at random with a notification after they began doing damage to the building prompting urgency. Most of the AI back then regardless of the purge or freeroam was horrendous stupid.
Every system has pros and cons, good and bad, you name it.
I like the new purge system a lot. I don’t disagree with you my fellow exile @SabunoHakia (nice to have you around again ), i wouldn’t mind to have both systems. But if i have to choose between old and new, i definitely choose the new even if i loved the game with the old purge system.
Only thing to correct here is that purges are not responsible for over builded servers…

Costumer services is. They give authorizations for bans or wipes.
Another thing Funcom is trying the last two years and apparently they succeed so far is to push players to play in less servers possible. I know many people that play ONLY in one server now when they use to play in many even decades. So playing ONLY in one server over build is something ordinary now.
So if you wish better performance… Single player.
If you cannot adopt to this new reality and you still want to play online, rent your own server…
Or! Wait for decays and expand, your call.
This is why I believe that they need to think of the unintended consequences of the choice, rather than removing stuff, improve on the current stuff. Remove the broken and replace. But whenever they change something they remove something that made this game very unique and interesting, for sure the game has been dumbed down and I find that absolutely reta**** to constantly cater to the ‘casual’ as a autistic adult, I don’t think regular people need to be handheld, I as a autistic love being challenged by the game, the creative process of the developers shouldn’t be stifled by whiners rather options should be added for the whiners, while still retaining the original content of the game to which the few who love to be challenged are able to be challenged.
Personally I love losing in games means I can become better constantly winning just means I have no competition no goal no way of improving. Not to say it shouldn’t be fun for the casual gamer, but removing stuff from a game has never been a good thing, adjust, add, and repair, remove absolutely broken and unworkable things should the latter fail at its goal.
The fact i just got sensored for something I partially am considered is a huge portion of the problem. Guess even people can’t handle a specific word or sentence anymore… the state of games and sentence structure is even becoming casual…

The report system need to be improved on for people who have no way of coming to the form or the email reply and posting photos and videos such as console users, I recently haf a issue at witcheye lake on siptah, a group of two I believe who usually have bases relocated or decay have recently completely encased themselves into the lake preventing people from even unlocking the location icon and the few and many unknown locations of the mountain lion have become a pain, specially during PvC time window were talking to the wife of the two said to look around a few spots claimed I am that kind of person because I tried communicating before attempting to report. A while later… the husband logged on and attempted to kill me during this process as he was looking for me but didn’t notice me a few times thankfully, then he did, the poison arrows and thralls began to chase. Eventually I reached the beach line an sat in the ocean for 15 minutes waiting as he shot arrows at me I proceeded to taunt him so much he build a tower to get a better view and targeting angle. Lol the thrist for blood. I didn’t even complain while I found it scummy he was within his right during PvC but the fact they had a complete monopoly of the area made continual looking for said mountain lion difficult, I have no phone until June 10th so looking up a wiki on location would cause me to have to pause for several minutes at a time and my memory is bad unless I follow a process to permanently remember it, so I cannot afford to put the effort into the locations, so ill be killing the husband often… sadly but personally I won’t bother with the effort.
Pretty much point is console users need a massively improved version of reporting because they definently reach the requirements for a violation but can’t do anything about it for now.

Very soon yes, but I wish I would have access to my content from Console but I don’t believe I can bring cross progression, or rather cross platform content transfer. But I’ll end up doing both eventually anyway and then Dune soon enough, this game made me fall in love with funcom products and creations and creativity so long as it’s not completely watered down like OW2 has become cater to the casual, or just gen z populist rather than the ones who made the game popular. I use OW2 as a example. Incase (overwatch 2) literally same game just microtransactions added bait and switch when it came to the PvE content promised. I truly believe in Funcom and that they won’t ever do something that scummy.

I do respect and in cases i miss the pvp thrill.
But i just cannot do it anymore. It’s a game of cunning, not valor. The best fighter will win a battle but loose the war. There are so many cunning ways for someone to hurt you or your efforts, that makes no sense to me play in these servers.
So i play pve and avoid every conflict. 5 months ago someone came to my jungle base and start building aggressively against me…
I made a round in the map, decided where to fix a new house and deliver the place… Not to him, but to anyone who would like to build there. Other than that, you need to understand that when you build, the least nice, people envy it and getting ideas how to build an area. Or others say… This is a crap . Every comment is acceptable i guess.
I went north and i build something better i believe than the previous… or not .
But anyway i like it more now.
But i am telling you, if someone feels that he needs the place i will definitely move again. Why?
Because i play in this server since age of sorcery chapter 2. I was too long in a spot and i don’t deserve to “own” this long in public servers.
The guy who was aggressive to me the other day send me a message. We meet each other on the fang hunt, he was playing war party, and i was playing solo. Imiu was following but stood away, she was with me to remove my corruption, nothing else (sad that thralls didn’t get xp from the event boss killing) .
In times he was sending his thralls to help me, though it was absolutely unnecessary, all they were managing was to ruin my fight than help. But anyway, it was a nice jesture.
Anyway i did the short long, he send me a message. Now we “speak” to each other, the mutual “respect” is in the air, i can smell it and it’s all i need when playing on official servers.
It’s not easy to have nice relationships even in pve. But sometimes people who overreact are people who have been trolled and hunted the most.
It needs patience, it’s not easy. But only time will tell if pulling back worth it.
For me so far it worked well, over 80% success. Yes rat bastards exist , nothing new i guess .

If there was an easy way to defer the old one like siptah, sure… but I think that would be too much work for the devs I assume, since they work entirely different.

The problem is that this is not the original team who is taking care of Conan currently.
Conan Exiles was designed as an aggressive PvP game for adults and it had that raw barbaric feel to it.
Currently the game is being catered to builders and other such types of “Sims” players who are neither PvE nor PvP players.
People so bad at gaming that they expect Thralls to complete the game for them and even demand it here on the forums.
The mods is the only thing that keeps saving this game after each update as they restore fun to otherwise dumbed down game.
