I do not miss the old purge.
Most of the time it was bugged and could not find a pathway to my base, even if that one was on flat ground, perfectly available for attackers to do their deed. One wolf spawning on the roof on my base, then two T2 nordheimers also inside. Killed them, and waited. And there was null option to summon another purge, when one enemy got bugged into the terrain, the timer just went on and on, until the 45 minutes passed, and I got none loot nor thrall from it. And I am talking about 75% of cases approximatelly.
I do not think that the old purge was preventing players messing around.
The only thing I dislike about the new purge is the fact, than NOT A SINGLE fighter thrall rescued is better in any way than the superior Cimmerian Berserker. Entertainers are bit better, but there is still missing the option to get worker thralls.

The only thing save the game IS Theres no others game like Conan and the old players still have Hope in It game

Also people dont want Thralls to solo all game people want Thralls to do the same thing a strenght or agility build can do.
Right now Thralls have Very bad AI , are weak , and die fast.
Pets are useless.
Thralls and pets are useless in PvP and base defense.
Thralls dont know how to use Spears daggers shortswords Shields 2 handed Hammer or axe They Just are good in one handed mace or two handed swords.
Thralls dont do fatalitys.
And with It New Very good wonderfull update Thrall are getting fall damage and They are stopping atack almost all time.
To have a good Thrall you waste time doing purges or looking in the map putting in Wheel of pain , you waste resourses making armor , you waste time searching good weapons like momentum , you waste time getting souls to make the reset perk potions and for last you waste 4h to level he to Max level.
With strenght or agility builds you Just need a weapon to solo all the game my friend soled a purge lvl 10 naked with 20 strenght 20 agility 20 vitality and Just 1 treasure and 1 Foundation with 3 walls and 1 door.
If you are using autority build your main weapons are Thralls like a strenght build are strenght weapons and agility areagility weapons.
This is what happens with these early access / live service games.
They sell you a dream that the game is going to become amazing one day, you just need to stick around and keep paying.
Then the game slowly dies and it never becomes what you wished for.
Myself I just want to see the next Age, if it’s not something big I’m outta here. Gaming is bad anyways, better to go out and date some chicks, or go to the gym and build your Conan-like physique.

i wouldn´t mind random purges or assaults happining from time to time along with the current purge system.

Sadly true last I checked games were supposed to be hard to have a challenge and kill time while having fun, casual gaming is killing my interest in the whole thing.

But not on official servers, I would like to see them come back but a scaled down version.
They are still on Officials, I am not sure why you think they are not.
Well I hope that the fall damage is reduced based on fall distance up to a point were death is expected.
I am like that I like to dream, but I recently gave up on path of titans, far to slow of a grand dream, at least they never gave up on this game as they have made decent progress speed, most don’t stick with their turd and dump it in lue of profit loss, glad I stuck around its been fun on and off. Will still support the company, looking forward to dune.

Yeah I have enough of current MMOs, they are copy-paste all the same.
Age of Conan was different, so I hope Dune is going to be different too.
And above all I hope it’s going to be a MMO for adults, with some thinking involved.

The worst offenders of copy and paste is Overwatch 2 nothing different except nerfing and dumbing the game down and microtransactions, Fallout 76, least they stuck to this turd and promised long time commitment. Because this was a 100% copy and paste assets of fallout 4 then a new map and literally nothing else done. But this is what makes me love Funcom so much not even Big Beth fixed there turd as fast as Funcom. Both have improved and I’m grateful, but only for conan, overwatch died for me the moment they changed to 2 microtransactions I could have gotten past not dumbing down the whole game because people didn’t like being frozen by the mighty mei. 
soon I’ll have no fun challenge in video games I’ll end up going back to sega and sega genesis etc lol.
Only thing slightly dumbed down was FFXIV from FFXI but FFXI WAS THE EPITOME of a challenge god I need a pc to go back to it bad. Hell even had a overtuned boss that it made news people passing out from the fight. Rather than giving up and prioritizing their health they gave it there all. Both a good and bad thing, pandemonium warden is the aforementioned boss if you want to google that article.
They need to cater to next gen gamers, spoiled kids without any skill but with big sense of entitlement 
I played Witcher 3 today, and I’ve been thinking how much more interesting the fight is when the boss has 2-3 totally different special attacks beside the normal ones.
It would be easy to implement to Conan Exiles.
