So I have a thrall equipped with a Star metal great axe and advanced damage kit. Should do about 70+ damage. But hitting a rocknose in the sulfur springs it’s averaging about 2 to 3 damage a hit. What gives? I never really noticed how much damage the thrall did as I was always attacking, but I decided to test out the better thralls mod and noticed that even 4 thralls with star metal axes could take a minute or two to take down one rocknose while I could take it out in about 10 seconds solo with a star metal sword doing much less damage.
Rocknoses have absurd amounts of armor. Try giving your thrall a mace or something with high armor pen and see if you get the same results
Worth a shot. Let you know. Thanks for the suggestion!
Any time mate! It’s the first I’ve heard of someone complaining about rocknoses, so I’m genuinely curious if it’s a bug or a feature. Keep us posted on how it goes!
Its a feature, they adjusted armor values on stuff sometime after Siptah, Rocknoses got a really high armor value, but their Health was slashed. So using swords takes the same number of hits as before. Using Maces and Hammers takes a lot less, while axes takes significantly more.
That was it, I guess the wiki wasn’t updated yet. It still says 40 armor for Rocknoses which doesn’t seem like much. But hey, at least now there is a point to carrying different weapon types.
I do PvE so there wasn’t much point in paying any attention to attributes other than damage before that adjustment.
I think elephants and rhinos got some love too.
Hopefully boss NPCs are next!
Boss NPCs were rebalanced already.
Really? When?
I swear I missed it. Probably noticed when this happened, and I just got used to it(?).
I remember the elephants suddenly becoming practically indestructable. Even with a star metal sword it was like attacking it with a toothpick. The switch to armor penetration weapons does seem to narrow the gap to something more manageable with elephants as well.
I like using obsidian mace with scorpion queen venom on it. It destroys 'em quickly.
I can one-hit them [rocknoses] with my two handed veroxic hammer.
It’s fun because they die just in time for a follow up light attack - the timing of which makes them fly hundreds of meters into the distance.
Which thrall is the basic question here and not which weapon.
I will suggest you to go to the mount of the dead and farm a Cimmerian Berserker my dear friend. He spawns out the wheel with a star metal 2h sword. This is the first step of the solution.
The second step is to stay a bit in the mount of the dead camps and farm armor pieces. You gain epic light and epic heavy armor pieces from this camp. This way you will dress your thrall with a reliable armor to go all around the map and kill everything in your way. If you are level 60 go and take the dragon bone recipe too, it is very powerful weapons too. But if by any chance you can do the black keep dungeon, taking the silent legion recipes telith sorrow is a nusty sword. Eventually you will trip on an adventurers blade or a sword of Crom and game over.
Berserkers with 2h swords is the best solution you have. Maces like ajas bane for example are extremely powerful too in a thralls hand but they miss a lot so at the end it does not worth it a lot. Focus on 2h swords for thralls and thralls that really worth the shot. Sinners Refuge cave is only for crafters all these named fighters are garbage.
