Loot chests bug out and no longer spawn loot for anyone until server restart.
Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:
Open world loot chest (boss or normal doesn’t matter)
Press ESC to close said chest
Come back an hour or more later or w/e the respawn timer is for the chest
Chest will be empty or will have what you left in it.
Please note I’ve tested this over several hours of gameplay. Trying different variations, loot entire chest and press esc, loot nothing and press esc.
What does work is pressing E to close the chest. I’ve yet to see a chest bug out when I close it with E.
Good report, Shinrai, and well worth noting. My experiences have been the same, but I did run into one the other day that violated that rule.
Please take into consideration this is after thousands of play hours and I have only had it happen once. I always close chests with “E”, it’s ingrained in me. I have been with someone who left a chest open and asked them to close it. I suppose they may have used ‘escape’.
I killed the black rhino near Sepermeru and looted the chest. Returning less than an hour later, killed him again and went to loot the chest. It was unresponsive. Remembering the warnings here, I relogged and the chest was gone. After another hour, I returned and went through the same process and the chest would not open. Rather irritated, I smacked it with my pike and got a preview of the contents, opened it and retrieved my loot.
Although this is not the same as finding an empty chest, I thought it pertinent.
I always pressed esc to close the chest. Then kept coming back to empty chests. Initially I just thought “oh someone has been around here”. But then I started farming for a specific t4 thrall and was on the spot every 15 mins for hours over a few days. I had came across a report somewhere of this bug and started to do some testing. Sure enough when I started using E to close the chests they started to respawn.
Also appears that the loot in the chests are generated when you open the chests. I come to that conclusion because right after a server restart I can go to a chest, not open it but scroll through and take what I want then open the chest and there is a whole new set of items in it.
