Building is....terrible

The building in this game is AMAZING! yes it has building bugs but when you learn how to work around them you can build really nice buildings!

you should be able to build 4-5 blocks across without a pillar with walls on either side. A pillar should be only needed ever 3 blocks. 4 pillars total in a long house design that is 14x 7 I can fit 2 black smiths between pillars.

Some designs are harder than others. they have added support beams that are totally useless now it seems that would have been nice to have… but normal pillars mean that you have to build a little differently. Most people can build fairly crazy structures.

Support beams are purely decorative really now. because there was a way to exploit them.

You can build a circle with 3 blocks on each side and get away with just 4 pillars to give enough support to finish the roof (if you’re careful on where the stairs go). It is an old tower design i use that can go as high as you like, and is a massive cavernous room. I plan on making another soon, and placing the map room on the roof.

Building is amazing in this game! You should try harder…

Would be nice if there was a feature that gave you a warning if other structures were going to be destroyed if you remove a wall or pillar.

I like the building but find it frustrating when it sometimes won’t let me upgrade a piece or if I destroy a wall it then won’t let me build one back in the same place for some reason.

The building in the game is phenomenal…clearly youve never played another survival building game. (Minecraft doesnt count!)

This game has WAY more freedom in building than ark etc…from allowing to clip to ability to adjust and stack foundations, fence foundations and more.

Lets not forget being able to mount foundations to anything…allowing cliff structures and more.

So if there is a problem with building its most likely P.E.B.C.A.P ( Problem Exists Between Console And Person)

Id suggest watching some building fundamentals videos and going from there!

Have fun!

They did, the repair hammer. :tronwut: My advice if you’re removing a vertical wall, put in a ceiling right above where you plan to cut, and connect that new ceiling tile to the floor* with a doorframe. If you plan to punch a hole in the ceiling where there might be an overlap with something expensive, upgrade the ceiling to a hatch, which you can 95% of the time successfully cap even with major overlap. If you plan on cutting a hole in any ceiling, support two of its faces, all the way to the floor, with SS doorframes.

* floor in this case should have 40% or greater stability

Sweet… Still going to take awhile for me to grasp the rudiments of simple design, lol.

I spent days upon weeks in single player getting the rudimentary fundamentals down before i ever tried to join a server. Those 60 degree blocks really throw a kink into the mix, but can be used to great effect once you wrap your head around it and forget the idea of everything perfectly blending if you plan on an enclosed fence.

It looks like it paid off, eh? I’ve been doing a lot of trial and error building, but its slowly starting to come full circle

I came here to see some awesome designs. @Enyo and Jazrek did not disappoint!
(It says I can only mention one player in a post… lame.)

How do I past my game screen shots in my post?

I want to show my map room in a 9 x 9 ceiling room.

Here is the link to my picture:

You can drag screenshots into the box or click the Upload button.

I like the warm glow of your room.

Thanks I always liked the lighting of those braziers. The upper room is a bit more bright as it is a crafting room after all. Hmmm can’t find that screen shot of my crafting room directly above the map room. I will upload that when I get it again. Some of the thralls and the dancer are naked so be for warned when I post that shot.
