As you can see from the picture below I’m struggling to get support for this TINY little building we’re trying to make for our wheel of pains.

My question is, why? In reality this would be a perfectly stable build and I find it hard to believe that in a game where so many unrealistic things are possible, this isn’t.
Are there any work arounds for this? We tried putting carpet in the gap to hide the hole, but as you can tell from the second picture below, that didn’t work either. As (not sure if anyone noticed this) carpets are only textured on ONE SIDE!

I’ve really been enjoying my time in Conan up to this point, but the more I play, the more flaws I’m finding in the building system.
And sorry for the links, if you get rid of the sapces in imgur it will take you to the pictures. Apparently new users can’t insert picture into posts and we’re blocked from having links in our post. Not sure how I’m supposed to explain my point without using pictures… gg.
One of the things I love the most about this game is it’s building system, but one of the things that drives me insane is the stability system they have in play. There are many things that would be feasible irl that just don’t work in-game, and I believe they’re that way to prevent people from getting ridiculous builds on pvp servers.
For example there are diagonal support beams that are for decoration only. They used to work beautifully, but unfortunately people were using them to build stairways to heaven. So, rather than find a way to properly fix them they just don’t supply any support anymore. Last time I used one they would allow you to build what you want, but the moment the server restarted their stability rating would become 0 and anything that was using the stability it offered came crumbling down.
So, as much as I hate to say it, you have to either get really creative with your build to get it to work, usually by placing a lot more walls and/or pillars that you originally didn’t want, or use the Age of Calamitous mod which has a lot more building blocks available to you that don’t have such strict stability rules.
I really respect your attempt at a build such as this. You’ve got a bend in it, looks like maybe roof eaves made by ramps, pretty and bold!
In other words, I can see why you made the choices you made, with triangles on your outer rim. This is where your problem comes in. If you could craft a repair hammer and take a look at the stability on the roof, it would be very helpful. For reference, equip your repair hammer from where you are in the second photo, and write down the stability values from left to right. Short of simulating your build, these numbers will be the most helpful.
Building system is amazing in this game once you know how it works…
Without mods your stability will only go out 4 tiles, with roofs lower it to 3 in most cases.
It takes a lot of tinkering, but its possible…
As Necrobile has said, mods give a lot more stability. AoC mod will let you go 8 blocks from a foundation point, hence you can have a room 16x16 w/o supports in the middle as in unmodded you will be lucky to get a 8x8 room w/o pillars inside.
If protecting it from potential thrall thieves is your goal, you don’t necessarily need to have it roofed. Just have it surrounded by four walls, 3-4 high (obviously with at least one door) and cap all the walls with the tier three fences. Folks shouldn’t be able to climb up and over as the tier three fences cause damage, causing the would-be-thief to fall.
Edit: also make sure its not near a cliff or something that someone can climb up and then jump into your walled structure.
