Can I get banned from testlive

No matter which way you cut it … it has been clear that anything decorative or serves as a means of convenience such as bridges and elevators, has been viewed as preventing others from building.

This is no exception just because it is you and it is justified.

No what is laughable is I handed you a definition and you still don’t get it.

It being me has nothing to do with it.

As I pointed out, when we had this discord about bridges funcom never weighed in so we really don’t know.

The point of this thread was to see if the community thought; because funcom is yet again absent from the discussion, if what I was up to would be ToC violations. Pretty well the majority’s opinion is no.

Seems my biggest issue is being overly concerned about how my building effects other players.
Is that a bad thing?

Of course not it’s not bad to be concerned, everyone should.

But it has been demonstrable that building bridges for convenience, either selfishly or selflessly, does not meet ToC.

Isn’t it hard to reconcile?

If it is, that’s what most of us that have been actioned on feel like.

Proportional. Big or small. A big violation or a small one. End of the day doesn’t matter since the forum knows a violation is a violation.

Yes we do. We have people who were banned for it. The reason given is “blocking resources or build spots”. Bridges are 100% bannable should someone report them. Some people might find them useful and ignore the fact they are against the ToC.

Now youre starting to see things how others do. “My builds violate ToC but as long as its a net positive on the server its ok”.

Now you see why some of the building rules neex to be changed.

I always suspected you had no understanding or proportionality, and you clearly don’t.

Do you actually… never mind, understanding that statement depends on understanding proportionality.

No quite the opposite. My builds; other then the questionable bridge, don’t ever violate the ToC, I do my best to keep my foot print to a minimum so I don’t have to worry about it.

Once again I feel the opposite. I think the rules need to be enforced equally across all the public servers. Not 95% of the admin actions being on PVP servers. We have been over this at length and the solution most liked is moot.

A single wide, unornamented, bridge up off the water is a convenience, A bridge that in and of it’s self is a base with half a dozen animal pens plus. At water level, Attached to an already obnoxiously huge city. That you can’t actually use because of all the decorations, thralls, lighting, and ornamentation lag you to the point of your game looking like a slide show.
If you think those two are equivalent, you truly have no understanding of proportionality.

A bridge is only a bridge when that is all it is.

They’re not equivalent. That’s not the point.

The point is that a bridge is serving no other purpose except for convenience and someone could build their base on either shore.

That’s the point.

It’s pretty dumb huh?

It’s the point I’m trying to make with Nemisis.

I think they know that.

But it doesn’t matter either way.

I sent up a flare, we’ll see what happens.

Looks like the ole 46 in a 45 example needs to come back.

Wrong. A bridge is a violation of land claim. It truly is that simple, especially when players themselves have been banned for it.

Well at least you see that your bridge is a violation.

True and its still a violation. Just like a staircase that lets you run over a mountain is a convenience, and might be a 100% net benefit compared to climbing, but its still a violation.

Indeed yet another violation if said thing caused server or client lag, both of which are violations. However, one could argue that if you put things such as animal pens, thrall wheels or stations that it would become a water base rather then a bridge. At that point more answers from Funcom would be needed to be 100% certain, but Id think that if it was your main base, that it would be ok and not a violation of land claim just because you built on a bridge.

Yet somehow trying to justify one violation over another makes you appear like everyone else on the forums debating the rules - some just dont need to be rules. Thats why, just like you said in another topic, everyone will read the rules and interpret them differently. Just like you are now, thinking your single lane bridge is a convenience and ok, when indeed people have been banned for it.

Hey, I agree, but its still a violation. Now, aside from what the debate is here, I do agree that bridges should not be violations since they serve a useful purpose. However, now you see why Funcom has stupid, idiotic, non thought out ideas they call rules.

Youre trying to make a point that doesnt matter.

But it actually does. Moderators are after all human. They investigate and make a judgment call. They may simply wipe the bridge and never notify the builder, or do nothing.
More over having a build admined; I like that term, doesn’t necessarily mean the builder getting a time out.

Once again scroll up and read that definition of proportionality. It gives you an example of just what I mean here.
No one is going to pull you over for 1 mile above the limit, they impound your car at 40mph over.

Then if they do this, they are not following the rules and the punishment as has been described to us. True, they are humans and they make the call.

Do you understand why people are so frustrated at this? It leads to inconsistency, improper application of the rules and alot of upset people.

If this happens, they yet again fail to uphold the rules and punishment set out in their ToC. If they fail to follow them, how on earth do they expect players to play within them?

While thats a possibility, and all up to the officer making the judgement call, keep in mind both speeds are speeding and therefore very possible to get a ticket for.

Which is precisely what were talking about here. A bridge is a bridge, no matter if its one tile wide and no decorations, or if its 10 tiles wide and full of plants and lights. And both are violations (that I disagree with)

Possible? Yes. Probable? not very likely.

We are not all frustrated by the same thing, we agree there are issues with the the zendesk system, we agree it needs a lot of work, but we are on opposite ends of the argument.

And so very well could the moderator doing the investigation. The traffic cop setting there clocks some one going a mile over the speed limit, he makes a judgment call. No worth the effort or the gas. 5 miles over, nice day, they are driving well so eh they let it go. 5 miles over not staying in their lane :discopug:

Huh?

Since when do people not get suspended/banned when there is an admin wipe?

What?

It doesn’t matter how many IRL analogies you give. If you step over the line you’ve stepped over that line.

There are cases where admins have ignored reports consistently which brings up the whole thing about favouritism; I know you pay attention enough to have seen those posts.

But not everyone has had the benefit of partiality or fair assessment as you’re suggesting. My friends and I certainly didn’t.

Nor my friend recently that was actioned on for cheating when they’re clean as a whistle.

We agree more then you think. In this topic, its whether or not a thing like a bridge is a violation. It is. We can both disagree with that, but thats the way Funcom enforces it. Yes, it depends on the person looking at the report as to whether or not to enforce the rules. It also depends on the person that makes the report. Would you report a bridge 1 tile wide that helps people cross from a thrall camp to the other side of a river, considering you could carry treasure (and at one point drag thralls since you couldnt swim with them)? Seems like no. Would I? No. A good point is: someone will report it because its a violation. Thats why I call them butthurt, because they go around with the sole purpose of finding anything they think is against the rules, and reporting it. You and I both built the bridge knowing its a violation (even if its a 46 in a 45) hoping that the majority of people enjoy it, and the butthurt people dont ever come to the server.

Other discussions weve had has been about the actual rule itself, not about specific cases.

You know it.

But let me give you cause to pause. What if the odd build here or there just lost stability? You don’t know why, build has been up for a while, hadn’t been working on it, just poof gone. Check the server records says lost stability.
Did it? Or did an admin clear a small reported base but didn’t feel the builder needed a time out. It’s a conspiracy theory but it is plausible
.

In your head because you so want to blame some one else for your ban. YOU are responsible stop trying to blame some mythical wandering HOA officer.

I doubt that very seriously, especially on PVE where people apparently don’t have the foggiest clue what the ToC is. It’s proof of that when so many people think there actually is a block limit, or a claim limit. That if they can build there it must be ok. People build thinking they will get a warning; like with thralls, when they hit that limit.

And we’re right back to the same argument about the failings of zendesk and funcom server admin.

Conspiracy theory that appears to be a projection in hopes of “fairness”.

Unfortunately not reality.

Because just like you, I saw a net benefit to the bridge. The next person might see it in a staircase. The next might see it in a path over lava.

Well, theres already evidence of that, so dont try to call it fake. Second, just like you in this topic, your stuff is a violation but youre ok with it until someone else doesnt Were thinking the same line. What would you say if you were banned for that bridge on the testlive?

Now do you see what you are saying? You dont think things will get reported because people dont know the ToC. What does that tell you? New players to a server who do report things because they know the ToC are what? Joining new servers, looking for things to report. Kinda like Ive established - that you dont believe. When it happens to you, youll understand.

Add that the idiot rules and we completely agree!

:brazil: Conan Exiles @Community @Funcom_Community
