Introduction
Greetings Exiles,
Conan Exiles has thousands of official servers across several platforms and regions. These come as a free service to all our players but come with certain rules and strict enforcement.
By playing on an official server you are asked to follow the rules below.
Please read through and consider the spirit of the rules, not just the specific wording. And make sure your clanmates are also aware of them as their actions can affect you.
We are unable to provide any refunds to persons or clans for loss of items, resources, in-game properties, and so on, regardless of the reason.
We reserve the right to modify these rules in any way we deem necessary and at any moment, at our own discretion. We will put a note in the Message of the Day on official servers when there are significant updates.
Personal responsibility and clan membership
These rules are available in each official server’s Message of the Day most of the time. Ignorance of the rules will not be considered during the intervention and does not give grounds for an appeal.
Any infraction by a player will most likely have repercussions for the entire clan. If you’re not sure your clanmates will abide by the rules you might want to reconsider your membership. And if you do not plan on playing on a specific server anymore it is often best to also leave the clan.
Official server building restrictions
Please remember that there are other players sharing the server with you. Restricting others’ access to content is not allowed beyond of course grabbing a spot for your base. If you wish to reign supreme on the map and hog all the resources and enemies, please consider single player or setting up your own server, or - in the case of PvP servers - play fair.
Some specific cases where we will act when made aware:
- Blocking of content in the game, such as dungeons, obelisks, resources, and other areas of the game.
- Abuse of the claim system where blocks are placed for no other purpose than to prevent other players’ access to resources and building spots. Please check out our documentation about Land Claim Abuse on Official Servers 1.1k for more information.
- Massive constructions or over-use of memory-intensive items leading to loss of performance both on client and server-side.
Time will not be spent carefully removing only offending pieces. All constructions belonging to the owner (player or clan) will be destroyed. There will be no refunds of materials or inventories.
Harassment and inappropriate content
Please stick to a general set of guidelines of basic decency. Treat others as you would like to be treated.
If you experience harassment or observe inappropriate content in-game, please be aware that there are tools in-game put in place to help you improve your experience such as muting.
However, there are cases where we may intervene, for instance:
- Offensive and defamatory chat and user-created content of racial, sexual, hateful, illicit, or of other nature. This extends to character names, guild names, in-game signs, and so on.
- Terrorist and criminal glorification. This extends to character names, guild names, in-game signs, and so on.
- Personal threats, doxing, stalking. Please also make sure to get in touch with the local authorities in such similar cases.
- Impersonation of Funcom employees or staff.
Hacks and Exploits
Hacks and exploits are not tolerated.
Hacks are uses of third-party programs that inject code and modify aspects of the game to provide an unfair advantage against other players. Utilizing such will lead to action taken against your game license, not just your access to official servers.
Exploits are uses and abuses of game mechanics to obtain an unfair advantage over other players including creating a detrimental play experience through reduced server or game performance.
Duration of a suspension/ban
We do not issue warnings ahead of admin intervention.
We typically issue a 14-days temporary suspension as a way to warn and deter against repeating infractions. Any infractions beyond that will result in a longer suspension up to a permanent, non-appealable ban from official servers.
Hacking, exploits and other situations deemed as extreme will be met with a permanent ban on the first offense.
Reporting an infraction
To report players, clans, or specific exploits on any of our official servers, please contact us through Zendesk 3.9k by selecting ‘Report a Player’ as the type of issue. Our team will get back to you using the email provided.
Please make sure you provide the best information you can at the time of your report. This means relaying as much information as you can to help our team investigate. This includes, but is not limited to, screenshots, videos, timestamps, names of characters and clans, and a good description of the issue.
We won’t be able to refund or return any loss of property caused by an infraction.
Information on suspensions and bans
While suspensions are not open to appeal we do offer the option of appealing a permanent ban. We understand some might not always be aware of the actions taken by clanmates.
If you are unaware of the reason for a suspension or ban, please make sure you check in-game first by accessing any of our official servers. You will be prompted with the reasoning for suspension/ban and the duration.
As mentioned previously, please note that only bans are eligible for an appeal and not suspensions. If you would like to appeal, please feel free to do this through Zendesk 3.9k by selecting ‘Ban Appeal’ as the type of issue and providing relevant information such as character names, servers you’ve played on, and clans you were part of.
False reports
Everyone is welcome to submit a ticket and report an infraction. However, be mindful that all reports are thoroughly investigated on a case-by-case basis. The team does not act solely based on the evidence sent by any individual person.
Submitting a report with false or intentionally misleading information will result in a warning and the report being rejected, at our sole discretion. Repeatedly submitting false or misleading reports may result in further disciplinary action.
