AoC has Bobby where you can sell your surplus leather, one of my favorite features of that mod.
I agree there is an over abundance of leather created in the game, I’ve tossed thousands of it. Another solution might be to double (or even triple) the amount of tar you get from tanning, then perhaps not as much needs to be tanned to keep up with the demand for tar.
Some way to convert leather to tar or more tar in general would be amazing. This has my vote
