What the subject line says; can we please have a channel for Dune Awakening? Thanks.
You mean forum and that isn’t up to the Conan team.
Dune has had an official discord for a year or more, that is where you will find a half a dozen or more funcom reps arguing about pineapple pizza.
But it’s not a place for serious discussions; right a discord that is no place for discords.
The is very real.
Forum, whatever. And others have pointed out that the Discord is more of a tangled stream of a million conversations versus something searchable. Oh well, off to Reddit.
The confusion is a diversion, the diversion throws off direct conversations with the developers, and the point.
At one to I was a top 3{?} poster there. You could talk about anything not game related. Half a dozen funcom reps there, not one meaningful conversation. I quit it, the foster kid in the basement felling got all too real.
What an incredibly strange comment to make, what point was he trying to make here?
For context:
I have a feeling they intentionally do not want to mix their Dune community with the other communities in order to prevent Dune players from reading the bad things that are happening in Funcom games.
Why do you think I was one of the top 3 posters for a while?
Ooof, I read a bit…
What value is there in insinuating Sir Dave Wolf () never played… at one time one of the most vocal PVPers that attempted to support and improve CE with excellent feedback.
I know some might say something to the effect of “damned if you do, damned if you don’t” regarding their communication but this isn’t some smooth burn
botton line, the game does not seem to be doing well, they probably are looking at data that might not be very encouraging, otherwise he will never post such a reactive post.
being said that, i would love to see how people will rate it once they start hiting the end content. (a month from now)
something tells me, that dune might not be doing well in that part of the game (end game)
I would guess they’d have a forum section once the game is officially released. On the point of not wanting exiles and dune players mixing, yep that seems real. This company has a pile of resentment towards it and they don’t seem to get it? How is that possible? I think with dune they pumped expectations too high, the marketing dept. went berserk and now theyre going to suffer the consequences. I mean its still a fun game at lowbie levels from what I’ve seen so far. But not what its hyped up to be. Also asmon apparently walked away calling it shit lol. Thats not good for PR.
they might not do it, due to CE informing new DUNE Players that they have done with conan exiles.
As a fan of CE when I knew the existancce of new Dune project I knew that it wouldnt be something good for CE. It’s part of game industry and life. And yes its sad seeing CE as project already over and totally understandable FC is putting all the efforts and resources on Dune. The only thing I can expect for CE, in a short term at least, is just some bug fixing from time to time.
I dont forget the january letter, CE was not designed to be forever, it was designed as a project with a beginning and an end.
Dune? well, I wont purchase it but basically just for technical reasons as my old PC and graphics card doesn’t support it to get a minimal good game experience. But also to be honest, once I have a new one, I’m for sure Dune won’t be the first game on my list (I have others in mind) but also this doesn’t mean either I won’t ever purchase it. Never say never again.
I don’t give feedback about a game I don’t play. I watched some Dune youtube videos, overall I see the Dune community and fans very hyped and enjoying a very really good game but its just that; some random videos from some random youtubers in closed beta and early access time, so I would consider too risky today making myself realistic conclusions about the overall game based just on these youtubers experience, its too early to say if it is being a really good game and runs as expected or if its being a dissapointment and moreover to begin wondering if Dune will have the same fate like CE or not.
Only time and years will tell.
Regardless the feeling CE seems living under assisted breathing, lets say, Conan Exiles is and it will be for me one of the greatest game I ever played. Long life CE!.
I think you better take a look at SteamDB since Dune Awakening currently has an all-time peak of 105,936 while all-time high for Conan Exiles is 53,402, and this is only for pre-orders, that number will likely increase after June 10th

Long term player count, who knows, it will be a guess just like anyone else, but having put more than 500 hours into Dune Awakening, I can safely say that I enjoy the game quite a lot, and I like the end game loop, but again that is just my opinion
I have several games to finish. Right now, I’m playing a bit of CE. DUNE seems pretty good. I’ve seen videos online, some with very good graphics and others not so much, but acceptable. The bad thing about Dune is that it’s Dune. The art isn’t very good. The old version isn’t very good, the modern one is pretty good. Dune Awakening looks like the modern version. The weapons and vehicles are pretty good.
It has single player and is quite eye-catching. If you’re into raiding, you can do it. If you like wasting time building a base, you can.
I don’t like that you need more than 5 reloads and a lot of backstabs to kill someone. I’m used to a headshot/kill, spending 5-10 bullets to kill someone.
I prefer first-person games; Dune is third-person. Still, it’s pretty good. There are plenty of third-person shooters and gun combat games that are similar to Dune. A lot of shooting to kill someone.
Compared to Conan, there are also a ton of open-world, survival, and combat games. Honestly, there are some pretty good ones, with bugs and room for improvement, but they’re pretty good.
In my opinion, without having played Dune, it’s pretty good. I’m sure players would change things. There are always things in games that players would prefer to play differently.
I will play Dune.
About time to put a bullet in this thread?
I hate 1st person, about the only reason I’m not playing 7D2D over Conan.
Most people that have palyed are under some sort of NDA, and watching the funcom crew play…
Well you’ve watched them play Conan, you think they played Dune any better?
I might get Dune when it goes on sale, but not a fan of class based MMOs; RPG. This ends a game for me fast
I was going to buy Dune. I don’t like it much, but it’s a big release and I wanted to play it. I thought 50 was the standard edition, now it’s 80 with Caladan Castle. Maybe it’s expensive, other games have also gone up in price. Well, I don’t sell games. I buy them. They’re expensive.
Dune has some nice points; it’s Dune, the visual style is what it is.
Some videos show players messing around with other players, so it’s probably for raiders.
You can play thinking you’re a great knight or whatever and build a base; you could probably lose it entirely. Single-player might be good.
I don’t have it yet because I have other games. I don’t like it that much, but I think I’ll buy it. On sale, if I can.
Ok i finally get it, about funcom and CE… i was pretty disgusted with them for a long time over this game but i think CE was just a hack for them. not a real well planned game like you would expect from a gaming co. i think now that they just didnt expect so much attention and didnt think ahead for how they would run it. cause theyve shown that when they do these things (eg dune) they can make it work a lot better. i bet even they arent happy with CE.
At the risk of repeating old news back in the day Joel basically stated that CE was a hastily constructed hail Mary pass that ended up saving Funcom’s bacon. So yeah, hacks and shortcuts on a bed of sand that was not, at the time, intended to be expanded on. Likely amazing it works as well as it does.
I wouldn’t mind revisiting Age of Conan but cannot as the patcher always dies with an error. Something about the patch process did not complete. Probably easy to fix. I just haven’t bothered looking into it.
Dune seems to have been well received though my inner conspiracy theorist wonders how much, if any, of that praise might be bought and paid for by a certain large investor. To quote Conan the Destroyer, we shall see.
puts it all into perspective – hacks and shortcuts on a bed of sand lol nice. but yes they may not have much to work with really in terms of fixing it up too much. you also just triggered my age of conan nostalgia – queue white sands music…
