puts it all into perspective – hacks and shortcuts on a bed of sand lol nice. but yes they may not have much to work with really in terms of fixing it up too much. you also just triggered my age of conan nostalgia – queue white sands music…
Well seeing Dune release happening in real time, I am starting to understand why Conan is the way it is. If Conan had the same launch with daily updates, its no wonder that there is so much interdependencies that just don’t make sense. If they were trying to quick fix things to keep it up and running, then it’s sloppy stuff and if they didn’t circle back with a more logical method of fixing, then 6 years later it would be like navigating a minefield.
how many community manager does dune has?
how many does Conan exiles ?
now can we all agree CE is abandoned?
Anyone think this game will be as neglected as conan? Im very skeptical to try it probably wait for the price to drop.
No, because it hasn’t been.
Not sure why one side is always trying to get everyone to agree to their opinion.
EVENTUALLY yes., it will be abandoned as CE has.
right now they are all trying to get as much money as they possibly can. and while they are at it. they will focus heavily be very responsibe and patch frequently… but with age, they will move on., and leave the game with minor fixes. and without very lvery little attention .
Discord is what kids use these days.
That said. Yeah, Funcom has a bunch of games that they maintain concurrently. Some even despite being very dated.
Conan Exiles is one of my favourite games even if it is still quite flawed despite nearly a decade of patching.
I’m eager to buy Dune…after I see a review or two.
It wasn’t abandoned. It’s in maintenance mode. The game certainly could use more fixes, then again they don’t need to rush anything since there is no pressure to meet a deadline. That’s the problem with work in AGILE and fixing things later as long as the product is minimally viable.
By sheer numbers it is a 2x bigger launch than Conan Exiles. More money means better support for longer. Programmers are often hired on a contract for a set amount of time and when they go they take the knowledge how code worked with them. That’s also the reason why fixing games is so ■■■■■■■ inefficient and so many are left with bugs when passive income declines.
