Cannot play with my friend in coop mode

We can’t play toghether in the coop mode. The error that shows up is: “Impossible to connect to the server. The connection with the host has been interrupted”. Any suggestions?

First thing : Welcome !

I had the same issue and made a topic about this. You have multiple options :

-If you can you could set up a private server and invite your friend. Playing on a private server means that there will not be any thether distance and so your friend don’t need to stay close to you as in the co-op mode. Unfortunally, you’d need a spare machine to run the server.
-To play the co-op mode, you need to open some firewall ports, if you want i can send you the ones that you need to open. Playing on co-op means that some things will be special :
. If your friend die, he’ll spawn back next to you.
. If you die, your friend will get teleported next to you.
. Your friend won’t be able to do stuff if he’s to far away from you (you can max that distance, but the radius is around one case around you).
. I don’t remember anything else but if you look on the forums, you’ll see some stuff

I post here my topic where Kearsan helped me a lot. If you have any questions ask me !

I hope I helped you a little c:

Thank you so much for your reply!
We have already read about the port forwarding but we’re a little confused about it. I also set up a dedicated server but I didn’t know that it requires a spare pc to work (sad). Howevere, there are the ports that my friend and I have opened, we don’t know if we did it properly tho. (https://imgur_com/a/D11bVVx)
Can’t share links and upload photos, (insert point instead of underscore)
Hope you can help us!

I didn’t understand anything about ports at first either :joy:
I’ll try to help you as much as i can.

So, I’ll screen what i did :

1- type firewall to get access to it.

2- When you’re in, go to where i put the red box (sorry, it’s in french )

3- then, next red box: new rule

4- go on port

5- Then TCP, and you put what’s needed here : 25575,27015-27030,27036-27037

6- Then autorise the connection

7- then yes and yes and it’s good

8- you re do the points 3 to 7 same but you do UDP instead of TCP and you put this inside the box : 4380,7777-7780,27000-27031,27036

Now to activate or desactivate it :

1- Go back in the rules and search for the name you gave your rules (I named them TCP and UDP so it’s kindda easy :joy: ) and double click them (right now they are not open, you can see it thanks to the red circle)

2- Then you can autorise, or block ! sssssq

I really hope that this helped, tell me if there is something that you don’t understand. It worked for me, so I really hope it’ll do for you !

Hey! Unfortunately it doesn’t work for me :frowning:
We opened the ports but we can’t still join eachother game. We used the steam invite to join the lobby, we should use direct access through IP address?

I’m really sorry to read that. You need to make sure that when your friend tries to connect to your game, you need to make sure that you are an admin. If you have mods, your friend needs to have the same ones in the same load order that you have. It can take several tries (usually 2-3) to work. What we do with my friend is that we launch the game, then we check our mods, next I launch my server, put myself as an admin, and then invite them. If it doesn’t work, try to do the same but launch the game without Battleye. I really hope that’ll work cause if it doesn’t, I have no other ideas. I wish you good luck !

Quick Edit : I don’t know if you can connect through IP adress, but try that if you can (i don’t know how however)

Hi @Calella, welcome to our little part of the universe! I’m glad you’re looking for a solution and we are here to help if possible.

Firstly, how far away from your friend are you physically? Are you in the same country or region?

Second, are you able to find your friend’s IP address? If so, have you been able to ping it from your PC?

Third, are you staying with your dedicated server now, or are you trying to play co-op?

Fourth, are you the intended host, in any case, whether it’s server (recommended) or co-op?

Finally, if you are the intended server host, do you have full control over your internet router? I suspect you may be in Europe, so that’s not always the case.
