Can't play Conan because of hard lag&stuttering

Bug Description:

I played the game with the same computer for 600 hours in total and I have never encountered such a problem. After a long break I came back to Conan like a week ago and played on PvP private servers on EU. I’m having huge lag issues which makes me unable to play the game smootly.

I installed VPN, changed DNS, backup game files to solve this problem but all didn’t work. But its solved when I connect to internet via my phone which makes me confused because:

On my normal ethernet(wired): 10ms ping - 75Mbps Download - 8Mbps Upload & Had no similar problems on other game, perfect but except Conan. In servers my ping is never been higher than 120 it sometimes reaches 300-400 but so rarely. But I have this lag issue all the time!

On my phone internet(wireless): 40ms - 14Mbps Download - 13Mbps Upload. In the game I have fixed 180 ping but no lag, no stuttring problems etc. perfect.

Update: I realised that I never faced any issue such this when I join onto any server at the beginning but in process of time this issue whatever its called maybe lag/packet loss/stuttering/warping is occurs s gradually and suddenly you realised that you can’t even play because of this problem. I’ll put a video soon.

Steps to Reproduce:

I have no clue to reproduce it. If I play the game for 5 hours, I don’t have this problem for only half an hour.

I haven’t played on any offical servers recently. Have been playing on private servers whole time. 3 different servers on 5 days. The problem not occurs at first day but after the first day this problem ruins my game experience. I’ll try it today and reply with the result ASAP.

I just tried on two different official servers and I faced with the same issue again. I’m going to share how looks like my experience down below with my PC specs and router/ISP details.

  • CPU: AMD Ryzen 5 2600 Socket AM4 3.4GHz 19MB
  • Motherboard: ASUS PRIME B450M-K 4400MHz(OC) DDR4 Socket AM4 M.2 DVI VGA mATX
  • RAMS: 2x CORSAIR 8GB Vengeance LPX Siyah 3000MHz CL16 DDR4 Single Kit Ram
  • SSD: GIGABYTE 480GB SATA 3.0 2.5 SSD (550MB Read/ 480MB Write)
  • OS: Windows 10 Pro

No packet loss (Tested on Cloudflare):

Thank you for the thorough information. Since no packets are lost the issue is most likely on the server-side. Would you be able to try on an Official server just to test that theory? We have server #1036 located in Germany that falls into the area you prefer.

Here’s the result:

I do not have any issues with my internet and I never had. I have been playing different type of games in a week and those games are mostly competative games which means it is impossible to unrealise such an issue like this. Briefly I do not have any problems if I connect with my phone’s internet. I have no clue what the problem is.

  • I tried to use VPN,
  • Reinstall the game,
  • Backup&Repair game files,
  • Use different DNS adresses,
  • Manually deleted mods,
  • Set ConanSandbox.exe as a high priority while using ethernet.

I did those all but unfortunately didn’t work.

In this case, you might want to contact your ISP to ask for more information. If you have the IPs for the private servers you enjoy, ask the ISP support to check if they can find a better route for you to access it.

I am not the network expert but maybe its a problem with the mtu on your Ethernet device or router?

Try a lower mtu. Years ago I had some problems like this on another game on PlayStation. Setting the mtu to a lower value on the PlayStation solved this for me.
