Capture The Player in PVP

The option to turn it off and on should be put in it like any other feature in the game building dmg i mean are you going to leave a server because your builds keep getting destroyed or because your getting killed over and over?

It wasnā€™t fun in ark. And the devs promise to never do it.

There are mods that allow this but still requires consent. Only seen it active on RP servers

Would be nice to knock players out, but once knocked out the player would just spawn in the desert while a copy of him becomes a useless thrall that is equivalent to a 5 slot bearer thrall. That way you do not abuse this mechanic to carry stuff out like crazy!

yes that is right you can abuse many things in game so having to control these within the setting a huge plus

The capturing enemy players and turn them into special thralls would be interesting. Especially if it gave a penality to the captured player. Like say he loses a few levels?

Ye lose a few levels on top, that would really make it perfect

This wouldnt be something that can be done to offline players. Its really easy to level up especially once you hit the higher levels of gear. This wouldnt be on top of anything. your character would respawn as if you died, just missing a few levels for being inept enough to get knocked out.

Sounds like it would make a great optional feature!

Capture could be fun, but could also be abused badly and make the game not fun for some players.

I would suggest that a capture mechanic only be allowed on defensive ground. players cannot go raid other players bases, capture and bring them back. But players defending their home bases CAN knock out and capture raiding players.

1 hour time limit. 1 hour passes without aid = escape. Escape meaning the gate opens and theyā€™re free to attempt to make it back out. Any sort of teleportation drops all loot.

If something like this were to be implimented, then the captured player would need something to occupy them. Perhaps a means to speed up their escape. Picking locks, breaking down gates, bribing a guard, etc.
This way the ā€œrescueā€ can be going in 2 ways, not just the raiding team rescuing their captured friend, but the captive making their escape.

And rpers can simple lengthen this time by not attempting to escape and resetting it once it lapses.

No! That just dumb. Losing levels has no point.

Personally, Iā€™m quite againstā€¦ first of allā€¦ have you seen the pvp bases? They are freaking blocks in the highest positions, so the prison would be far upā€¦ and on top of that itā€™ll be surounded by walls tier 3 (because the big clans will certainly exploit that system to solo players or beginners) so your friends canā€™t do shi-teā€¦ specially since the clan that captured you will have 8 altars with archpriest, so no trebuchet can help you and neither an avatarā€¦ Maybe 1 hour yeah and removing braceleteā€¦ but it the will really freak up the hardcore players that " 1 death, you start again ā– ā– ā– ā– ā– ". Itā€™s terrible.

As I stated before, PvP servers are hard enough to keep active and healthy. To add in yet another mechanic that would be rage inducing wouldnā€™t help. Not only would it hurt the health of the server but it would hurt the over all health of the game (something funcom is already struggling to keep healthy.)

People already do this. That is why I say it is hard to keep a server healthy and active. The moment a clan or player gets wiped even once they either change servers or quit playing all together. And you might be saying ā€œwell, I donā€™t.ā€ Congrats, you get a gold star. You are not everyone else.

So with this suggestion you are doing nothing more then adding insult to injury.
So you already have a vast majority of players who would log off/change servers/quit the game from being wiped, then you add in the mechanic of knocking out a player and robing him/her of the suggested 1 hour of their play time where they canā€™t do anything. Now you want to take away character progress for being knocked outā€¦
At this rate you may as well make every death permadeath. You guys are on a roll here for doing everything you can do drive the game into the ground.

i agree, hard to implement that in a satisfying way in pvp-servers, but a very nice feature for people interested by role-play. Could be realy fun having such option. But i doubt it will be implemented one day. Wjem i see the still many complaints coming from official servers, implementing such a thing would need the creation of a new forum just for the complaints for the officials servers. :rofl:

You can still use mods doing that if you play on privat-servers. I think still the best way at this moment. Some people would love it, while others would hate it otherwise.

I think that capturing players is a little harsh. However, I think that stunning players should be doable.
Of course, new perks would be needed - doubling the amount of hits one might take with a stunning weapon.

No locking up though!
Knocked out players should then count as unconsious, being lootable.
They could still be used as hostages to lure other clan members there, who would try to get their mate back.

This adds another dimension to raiding, as defending thralls might just as well knock the enemies constantly out instead of damaging+killing them.

Any healing received might cause the knocked out player to regain consciousness. (Hello healing aoe arrows!)

That would be the way I would go about it.
Also, tearing the bracelet off or using anything should be impossible while unconsious.
No forced feeding as well!

If players might be knocked out and the slavers get their appropiate clubā€¦
Now imagine getting Risa or some else named slaver. As they are t4, they might even come with that legendary clubā€¦ :joy:

I guess soon after such an patch, people would cry out because they got knocked out and killed afterwards.
Just like with dancers and their bleeding.

Well there are two problems with that thought:
First: If the enemy party bring some fighter which got an enhanced club equipped, the forced to sleep player would stay knocked out. (Except if people get immune to stunning damage once they got knocked out, for them to wake up before anything else can happen.)
Second: If someone attempts to raid someones base and gets knocked out inside the enemy base, he is trapped. Though that would mean there is some actual defense against raiding. (Bow+stun kit+stun arrow)

By the way: I dont think of 1 hour unconsious time. Rater 60 seconds, then the player needs to be knocked out again. This would grant the victim every 60 seconds a possibility to tear the bracelet apart.
The way I would like such a feature is trapping a player for a very limited time.
Like crowd control for a very limited time.
Actually if knocked out people are not lootable, building something around them will only result in said player getting up again. Depending on what he has on him, he might eighter blow his jail up (tearing himself apart as well - just like the ones who trapped that guyā€¦) or pull the bracelet.

This whole feature would only make sense in some clan versus clan war.
Solo against clan might work as well, depending on skill of the executing player.
And clan against solo? Thats kind of griefing - be it with stun damage or withoutā€¦
