That poll is interesting. There’s a decent number who haven’t noticed (yet), and the reason for it is before the update they (like myself) probably held forward while attacking and continue to do so.
But they will eventually notice because even with that control style, you don’t do it 100% of the time.
I would probably add most of the two options saying ‘Yes’ to Haven’t Noticed as well.
I mean you never know how often everyone plays and what mode. Single players are not forced to play on a regular basis.
And PvP players often don’t do much of the PvE content. So… who knows.
But i still think that and Croms_Faithful‘s poll speak for themselves.
So ive been watching these youtubers, and now i understand what you guys are talking about. NPCastle is way to hard for you guys. i get it. they need to nerf it as hard as they can.
i didnt know so many people just had to hard of a time to play this game.
Im humble now, i get it, this game is way to hard. please nerf the NPCs so they cant ever kill these kind people Funcom.
Watching youtubers die over n over to these OP NPCs is just heart breaking. and watching all these Pro-PvPers doing 4v1 against farmers. it is just inspiring.
Good players or bad, we MUST cater to the weak. the strong will be strong no matter the patch. Dumb it down.
God here i was thinking the NPCastle was a Joke beating it naked in 5min. IT NEEDS to be NERFED! honestly we should just be able to walk through the NPCs as they die just from our presences. make this game more like a hack n slash. We must be GODS!
You know you guys are not copy paste warriors, youre minimum wage warriors, and if increasing minimum wage make you guys feel just as important as you know those that are smarter and better than you, im all for it. INCREASE that wage gape for these warriors, we need to get a union for conan.
Well… I understand you’re being facetious but you do see part of the difficulty balancing this game right? Appealing to the broadest possible audience is difficult. An NPC is a completely different category than another pvp player. In a way pvp has increased difficulty by virtue of killing other players (that’s the point of the game mode afterall). Pve players only opponents are the npcs.
You’re missing the point. It’s not the damage npc‘s deal, their behavior is completely weird. They‘re moonwalking, porting through you, changing direction mid air what makes dodging almost impossible. Or they hit you even if they are too far away.
I played a lot of Monster hunter, and there are multiple monsters which can oneshot you. But that game has quality.
CE just gets worse with every update, no matter PvP or PvE.
I have no issue with a challenge, but the changes make it impossible to read enemies moves.
I wanted to go and check the new fortress on the pve server i was playing.
I said what the heck let’s role play, it’s npcs after all, what can possibly go wrong.
So i build authority, war party wear Arena champion a Glimmer moon and a momentum. My followers was a male Berserker and a Tanky male Bearer.
I took 200 explosive arrows and i try to enter as a confident conqueror, like i told you in the beginning, pve role play.
I broke the first door and i started fighting, i said ok it’s about 20 npcs easy!!! But for some reason the npcs kept spawning and this lasted for about 20 minutes, in a laggy conflict i finally died. I returned to take back my thralls, because i knew that what i was experiencing was a bug, so i managed to avoid hits naked and make them follow again. Yet…
They were not following even when i went really far from the render distance.
The outcome was when i reached the hand of the god to take the first message, Cimmerian Berserker was killed while was following you, a few second after i get the same message for my bearer too. I went really frustrated, i looked the buddies list on my psn and i saw that John was active (@jmk1999). So i started the chat with John about the incident, and with this conversation, my frustration went away.
2 days after i will build agility, take a tulwar and a shield (massive lags plus npcs, shield is mandatory), materials for 20 jars, light armor and raided the pvp way solo. The fortress this way is a joke. Yet i didn’t find the battering ram and after i looted all the gold to the boss room i started walking like a turtle over encumbered and searching the place. Npcs kept coming but now maximum 2 at the time. I couldn’t dodge so i was holding my shield up and hit them only with lights. Even if i died, i could always retrieve everything from the circle, so technically i didn’t care, npcs cannot loot you. Well… Even in the turtle way, shield up and light attacks, i killed every single npc. I didn’t even had to heal my self . I finally find the battering ram in a room and i removed bracelet.
So technically these statements from the overheated fellow exile have a big dose of truth. Asking for something more skilled, is not bad, but not respecting other play styles is.
So we agree 1000% on how difficult is to balance this game for all the playstyles.
Happy holidays my dearest Darth
Ya, seems the best way to take the keep is solo with stealth.
Come at it head on with an army and you will be met head on with an army that just keeps respawning.
Stealth, or bat gliding i didn’t try yet. Npc archers are so worthless that cannot hit you while you climb. The visual corner is bad for them and you can hide and calculate the time frame of the next arrow.
I will try burning it all with trebuchet , or summon a god why not. It’s fun after all. I don’t calculate gaming hours with loot but with fun. And i really cannot understand why 10.000 gold coins is not enough for some people. I would do it even for nothing, just for fun.
Bottom line, why do we farm if we don’t use? To have more? And do what with more? Nothing?
I don’t know, but i fail to understand this logic .
Happy holidays @DeaconElie.
It’s yet another broken thing in new update.
Respawn rate is connected to amount of players/thralls in render distance of the fort.
Clearly they don’t have more than one person in QA ( It was Dennis in god mode) so they couldn’t test it properly.
PvEers are the only ones left in conan. so yea i get it, make the game easy mode so they can RP. they make RP stuff for them, make the NPCs also a cake walk.
im not missing any point. i know this game, i know you people, i know the NPCs. people cant change, and if that is the case, NPCs magically changes would frk the RPers out. and it HAS.
I dont care what PvE game you play, This game is easy mode, and these NPCs having bugs, issues, buffs, doesnt matter. they are still a joke. they could have hacks and still be easy mode.
why would i care about winning… lmao. a god doesnt look down at an ant and say. oh i won when i stepped on you. he would just continue walkin by.
You know i would say come duel me, but you already have a hard enough time killing Thralls.
Nah, I finally had the time (and willingness, honestly) to try out the new combat.
I did a testrun around the raidable castle, so mainly against humanoids. As I predicted, it won’t be too hard to adapt (for me), on PC with keyboard and mouse, it is not that noticeable with your character. With enemies, I can see the difference, which is good, they finally don’t try to kill the air where you WERE BEFORE.
BUT. I noticed, they now -especially with maces- have bigger reach? I constantly got hit even when the model of their weapon did not even touch me. Like an extra 0.5-1 meter reach.
You don’t know me, and you’re not listening.
Never did i say it is too difficult or anything, nor that i get killed all the time by npc’s.
All i said is that the combat feels awful. The quality just goes downhill with every new update.
I’m a vet in Monster Hunter, and sometimes it makes me sick how bad some people are at it.
But i don’t go to a forum and sh*t allover them.
I just ignore them and don’t play with them.
And this shows what kind of elitist you are.
I‘m pretty sure your next genius throwaway line is:
“ALL OF YOU ARE JUST PLAIN BAD, LEARN TO ADAPT”
No! People like you are the reason FC ignores their players. Searching for work arounds and adapting every sht they throw at us will just lead to more stupid sht.
But if you are such a god go ahead and adapt, we want to be the king in a game where all the mechanics WORK.
But if you want to be the king of bullsh*t mountain, enjoy it.
False. The majority of the players by about 2 to 1 are PVE players. The facts don’t support your opinion.
How would you know when you completely missed it? You really have no clue, what you do have is a very bias opinion not supported by any facts.
If the game is so easy why are you still playing? If you didn’t like easy games you wouldn’t be here. So you love how easy Conan is or you’d go play something hard, wouldn’t you?
LMFAO
I swear I don’t know how you haven’t broken ribs as hard as you pound that chest. One thing I have learned on line is people’s insults tend to be self descriptive. Only kids use kid as an insult, only over weight people use fat as an insult, and only not quite intelligent people use dumb as an insult. So what’s that make you?
Well put. Same is true for bullies… those who like to insult, threaten and throw punches usually are the worst at enduring the same treatment.
It’s probably a pretty stupid logical fallacy: “My greatest weakness/fear/insecurity is X, so that must be true for everyone, so I’ll attack everybody else with X.”
What would that make our troll of the day with his delusions of grandeur and weird obsession with “minimum wage”? How little must your life be to have to imagine being so great?
Sad thing even thinking about it. And even more sad that we’ll not be able to help him in the way he probably needs.
i actually am in between. I think it does slow down combat some, but am happy they “fixed” turret style attacks for players. It was far too easy to point, attack spin with no consequence or symbolism of “real physics”. There was no penalty for missing and facing away from oponents at all. now forward dodge can be used to pass thru the otherside and rotate around yourself milliseconds before the oponent ant attack. Creates a dance of sorts.
Now as for NPCs, they still magically attack backwards, so it did artificially inflate the challenge, all be it slightly.
Did you run into any enemies that were able to turn 90-degrees mid-charge or turn to attack mid-stomp, spinning on one foot? Those are fun. I don’t mind enemies being able to change direction of attack within reason, but some things are just ridiculous.
I was able to adapt to the change pretty quickly myself. I was nearly back to full effectiveness in combat in a day by just anchoring the camera behind me. But I wasn’t have as much fun fighting, and fun is a pretty important thing for me. I am much happier now using the mod that fixes combat.
I like things to be fair. If players are going to be limited to “real physics” in this fantasy game, then I expect the enemies to play by the same rules. In any case, as I have made pretty clear, I did not find the new combat to be a dance or in any way graceful. Combat before seemed fast and furious to me. With the change, it became clumsy. I’m glad you were able to adapt, but some of the best agility fighters in the game are struggling and hate the change. And using dodge as you describe would be awesome if stamina weren’t such a resource now.
Maces are especially dangerous and frustrating now. So many times I will have my axe out and leap toward an unaware enemy with their mace on their side and get hit by a combo anyway. It is impossible to interrupt a mace user now, even when you attack first and they are unarmed.
