I logged off in my base at the volcano with my gear on with enough rotection from heat but then, according to event log, died due to temperature changes shortly after server restart. I didn’t die in the hours between me logging off and the restart, but about two minutes after the server restart. So temperature wasn’t a problem for hours, before the restart, but directly after it.
There is an old forum chat for xbox, from 2020 where there was a problem with server restart, where it did not apply temperature protection to the character after a restart. It seems it still is, or is again a problem.
I lost all my gear due to this bug, most of it i can get again, even if its a nuisance with the legendaries, but not my three truncheons of the tiger, i farmed for during the last headhunting event.
Hi, that sucks. Sorry to hear it happened.
I presume you are on CE Enhanced? If so, it’s probably worth reporting this to Helpshift - Contact Us — Conan Exiles Help Center - that’s where bug reports for CEE go so the devs can see them sooner. (But please do also continue posting here as well so they can be added to the player-maintained bug list.)
I would suggest that when you log off, you throw all your stuff into chests or a vault first. Especially if you are logging out in the volcano or the frozen north. And I will tell you why.
When the server turns on, it will load things in differently depending on if a player is in the area or not. If there is no player around, it might load your character in long before it loads what gear you’re wearing or what kind of base you are inside. By the time the game calculates your gear and protection, you’re already a Baked Alaska.
The other thing to consider is your living settlement. Your smelters and cooks will wander over and fire up the grill. Even though this looks cosmetic, it shoots the temperate way up when they do this (ESPECIALLY the smelter). If you’re in the vicinity of a furnace when a smelter is interacting with it, you’re going to want to jump into the lava just to cool off.
I dont have any smelters or cooks there, bc its not my main base and i dont want to add to much to the thrall limit. I will from now on put my stuff in a chest on log out, but it loading in that order on a restart also means, i would die every time if i would i log off in the far north or the volcano on a server restart. Which kinda sucks bc i thought of building one there when i have the time. The last time i built in the north was still back when heat and cold protection was still tied to the building set. So isolated wood or black ice.
But thanks for that information. Didn’t know at all about that loading order stuff.
