That’s the main problem
Take that away from him, give him a 1 handed mace instead and watch him perform twice as well at least… If you actually watched the video I posted above you can see what he can do with a 1 handed mace.
Also, the game allows you to play around with attributes and your armor a bit more now. You could for example take from that 5 vit like you said and also drop 5 expertise and put both in authority if you want a super strong thrall.
Just to get him 5 more points it’s not really worth changing your build, since if you have 15 points in Authority then you might as well max it as that last talent will make the whole attribute twice as effective.
The way you can do that easily and not miss out on much is simply wearing a few pieces of carry capacity+ armor to keep your inventory size similar and not miss those 5 points
(if you’re wearing +str damage armor then just be aware that it only applies to the base damage so while it’s nice to have, the effect is very minimal and you’ll still do similar damage in other armor too)
I agree… it’s outright ridiculous, that’s why I asked the question as it’s an important one and we basically skipped over it until now not even wondering about the weapon used and just assuming.
There shouldn’t be this huge of a gap between how effective the AI is with weapons… I guess the mace “sort of” makes sense as they’re slaves and not warriors… you know… get a blunt thing and swing it… still… would be nice to bring some of the other options up to speed for them.
Yes! I also like the versatility the new attribute system brought. I was doing dungeons on an agility / farmer build the other day and it was awesome… No longer had to leave half the loot there yet I could still be a perfectly functional fighter
As for the build, I don’t really want to lose the 2nd Perk in Expertise: it’s REALLY good, didn’t realize how good it was until I’ve had it. It’s not just for the carry capacity.
Maybe if I loose 5 points in Strenght ?
It’s not like the 4th perk in strenght is much useful anyway. I would lose some damage, which would be nasty, but then my thralls would be 2-3 times as strong.
ALSO, and this is important: I think I’ve made some adjustment to my home, and now I think there are some spot with stability that would drop to 0 should I lose some Expertise. Do you know if they will crash should I use potion to reset attributes ?
WAIT!! Isn’t that the spot where the event with lots of Migo’s and eggs are?
If so, no thrall is good enough to survive that event unless you are careful and strategic about it.
Run down in the middle of things and you will soon be swarmed by Migo’s that will throw both you and your thrall to the ground, nearly constantly with their shockwave, Berserker, RHTS, vulcano fighters at max level, best gear… It doesn’t matter, they will die very fast if you aggro too many Migo’s at once!
I’ve been trying to figure out the best way to deal with this event since the Migo’s keep respawning pretty fast, however it is so refreshing to see an event that will force you to think about how you approach it
Personally I didn’t find the one at the bridge of the Betrayer a big problem, I did it in harvest spec with a pre 3.0 max level Dalinsia, it was hard yes, but my thrall wasn’t close to dying
EDIT:
Not to derail this thread, but it seems like those Migo’s drop schematic fragments(which cannot be used on EL) and Biles where some are for the old attributes like Survival and Accuracy and encumbrance, do they even work now?
Disagree. Somehow OP has better geared thralls than I do. But I can get my level 10 zerks in normal pictish war chief with a star metal warhammer to fight anything and everything in the unnamed city with no casualties. I’m genuinely baffled how it’s going so poorly for OP, the more I know the more confused I get.
Not really. I ran that event no thrall in steel tier weaponry.
I’m absolutely baffled at how OP is taking such heavy losses. Are the server settings cranked for insane combat damage or what?
Don’t know, but I found my thrall surronded by migos and demons, and when I realized it was at 30-40% HPs. So I fled, hoping it would teleport, but it died in 15 seconds.
THAT is what I mean for “their HPs are ridiculously low”. A RHTS probably wouldn’t have made through the whole event, but having twice HPs of Berserkers I could have saved him.
I’m on official server, and for several days that event has been a hot topic in chat because no one seemed to be able to complete it, so I decided to see what this event was like, and while my thrall was a pre 3.0 Dalinsia and I was spec’ed for harvesting, I had to bail out after some time, mostly because I ran out of healing and my thrall was close to dying
You are perhaps right when saying saying it isn’t that hard, but no thrall and steel tier weaponry??
You really should upload a video about how you do it, the answer may be simple, but so far I haven’t been succesful about it… Yet
Idk @Jimbo I think it’s just the case of multiple things adding up and I don’t blame them if they’re newer to the game.
First you have a more inefficient weapon…
a follower placed pre-update with broken Grit…
relying fully on a thrall with an authority build that doesn’t go all the way to well trained…
not the most efficient food…
etc etc… who knows what else.
I think it’s just the case of a “thousand cuts” but I think he’s slowly fixing them one by one.
And while yes, you can complete all these bosses without relying on the thrall, if you do rely on them though, then you have to put more attention to it than pre-update.
Yea, it kinda does, but they only had 10 points in it which is a bit of a waste imo, if you’re putting points in that attribute I feel it’s one of those where you have to go all the way
That seems insanely fast, even for the 3-5k berserkers usually are.
To clarify when you say epic armor; you mean heavy armor, right?
The grit bonus isn’t that huge on new thralls, I wouldn’t say that’s your issue. The trick to pulling it off is to aggro as few as possible and slowly make your way through, destroying the eggs one at a time. They’re hard single targets, but easily dispatched if you only pull 1-2 at a time
This, and ludicrous server settings would be the only two things I can think of at this point. I feed mine exotic feasts and they never go below half, even against high dot bosses like the reaper queen.
Yes I figured that only pulling a few at a time is the way to go while trying to destroy the eggs 1 at a time, and I also know that my spec wasn’t the best for that event, especially since I only had 10 points in authority
Still the event with the moon beast wasn’t that hard even with my spec, it was only the one with the Migo’s that gave me some problems because I sometimes aggroed more than I wanted at a time
If it’s official something is totally not right. Officials are standard 1x. Could you post a video next time you lose a fight? Might help to dissect what went wrong and what to fix
I’ve got both berserkers and RHTS, maybe I am just unlucky in rolls, but none of my Rhts have double hp compared to berserkers, usually we are talking about 1-2 thousand more hp for the RHTS at best, which it has always been, nothing new with that
You know, I didn’t actually want to lose a thrall just to prove a point
I don’t enter battles to lose them.
I can tell you this tho: with the old build (15 VIT) Migos did strip away like 15-20% of my HPs per hit (and I have the same armor of my Thralls - except for the Head, which is Executioner’s Hood). Now that I run with 10 VIT I guess they’ll make about 25-30% of my HPs per hit.
They hit whole area with their shockwaves and therefore it’s actually a pain to fight them. I didn’t knew their moveset (and still don’t know it) and so I couldn’t use any prepared strategy, but I had to adapt on the moment.
Don’t know if there is a way to avoid their Shockwaves, but I think there must be.
BUT, in my opinion, they do too much damage for the enemies they’re supposed to be. Not even the Red Mother, which is 3 skull boss, hit that strong. And there is 1 Red Mother, while they come in swarms.
I’d say they should be nerfed as they’re quite hard to kill too.
I haven’t done the event in question yet, but its starting to make sense why a thrall got trounced if they were overwhelmed. But I would suggest body pulling if possible.
When you pull NPCs you can get way more than you bargained for if you simply pull by throwing, shooting, hitting, or sending in a thrall. When damaged, NPCs do a callout that affects a large radius to everyone else in their community (the value that determines who they are hostile with and who they are allied with, faction basically).
The way around this is to body pull, an old term from Everquest 2 that had a very similar if not identical NPC assist system to Conan Exiles. You edge forward to get in the line of sight of the enemy you want to pull. You do this until they react (agro), then you pull back. They still do a call out to those near them, but they do not do a large radius one. If you pull back properly the ones who do get called (if any) will not do a call out themselves, they’ll simply follow the one you agro’d.
This results in 1-3 npcs instead of the entire encampment. Here’s an image to illustrate:
