Climate Controls for Armor

ATTENTION DEVS

This is a topic that has been discussed at length among players. I am unsure if it has been brought to you, so here it is.

Temperature factors of different armors, especially the Epics. You apparently removed them while friends and I were absent from the game for a few years. This has had drastically unbalanced consequences, namely making the Frost Temple nearly impossible even at lvl 60.

In the vein of providing solutions and not just problems, here are a few.

  1. Reinstill the previous temperature benefits and leave it alone.
  2. Add temperature kits to add to armors, WITHOUT removing the ability to add weight reductions or armor plating.
  3. Add a new line of outerwear that players can make to wear over their armor in cold climates and material removal kits for hot climates.
  4. Add temperature buffs to Epic armors only, since many areas wont be ventured to until those levels.

That’s just a few suggestions.

AND…I do hope to see some movement here, as does a majority of the player base. I’d like to point out that, as far as I can tell, there are no players engaged in Conan Exiles that have ANY intention on buying Dune: Awakening. That is because throughout the duration of this game you have consistently shown that you will ignore bugs that have been reported on inumerable accoasions and add nonsensical content in an attempt to placate players. On top of that, you consistently remove content that actually makes sense and nerf enemies to ridiculously easy levels.

From an invested player, I do believe you can turn this all around and get people excited for Dune Awakenings. But you need to realize that the majority of those potential clients are right here in the Exiled Lands waiting for you to show us that you care about your product.

Thank you and I look forward to your improvements.

Agreed. But unlikely to happen though. They are too busy creating bazaar items.
One possible and relevantly easy solution would be to extend the food warmth buff to 5~10 min. But even that is a tall order.

really nice ideas!

however I can’t really understand why you are strugling with temperatures in Frost Temple.
Pretty much any epic armor with some spicy food will do…even if you get the frostbite debuff. At least that is my experience.

When I saw the thread title, all I could think of was Fallout style power armour with built in air conditioning. In regards to Conan though, it would be nice if there was some consistency with armour design vs environment. Pictish Warchief looks great for cold weather as it’s made from bear pelts, but nooo, it’s bloody awful to wear in the Frost Temple

It’s one of the coldest places in the game. Don’t expect to handle it in your everyday combat gear. It’s one of the very few places where you actually need specialized equipment and preparation to survive.

And in my opinion, that is fine.

With any of these things, you can immediately go to the Frost Temple without worrying about everything else.

Yes, there are items for those places, but I think this topic deserves a few considerations:

  1. Food temperature benefits … they really don’t last enough for anything. Making their effect last longer IS a good idea. And an even better idea would be for different food to last for different times, making more complex dishes worth.

  2. Armor Insulation: yeah this should be a topic. I personally find it ridicoulus to see people with with stygian/hyperborean gear in the snow. Cold climate require cold clothing, as well as it is ridicoulus to see people with cold gear in the desert.

There should be 3 types of insulation:

  • Cold (gears like Nordheimer/Cimmerian)
  • Warm (gears like Stygian/Darfari)
  • None (gears like Khitan)

And climate/weather should be a thing. Personally, I’d make it count for thralls too. This used to be (and they still claim it to be) a SURVIVAL game.

Honestly, I think actual system has not been thought properly. Too much choises seem rushed. I know this will make people angry but Ark is REALLY better on these things. Ark has been thought carefully.

The game is so incredibly easy that any of these suggestions would only serve to make environmental impact even more inconsequential.

The game has gone the way of not being a true survival game anymore. I even wrote a post posing such.

Many suggestions have been given in the comments. I agree that we could see continuity in armor temperature resistances.

I’ll add that you can venture into the Frost Temple naked or with coarse armor alone, use the free booze you can get from multiple chests and drops via NPCs and some healing potions. You will not die as long as you micromanage your health and heat.

Frankly that is ridiculous.

The game shouldn’t babysit you as it is now. Additionally, you need to make choices about what build you prefer. You shouldn’t have your cake and eat it too but that’s already reality. Take epic armor of any kind and simply consume mead, firewater or spicy foods, viola.

This one agrees that armour/clothing should have a greater impact on climate resistance.
Eating a hot wing should not protect from frostbite as well as a fur coat.

That having been said, the old system can stay dead.
Freezing to death on the starter river because someone wore a well made silk shirt was perhaps even more idiotic than taking a shot of Tabasco to run barefoot across a frozen lake.

Honestly, this one would like to see more clothing grade items that, while low on the defense, offer significantly better temperature stabilization.
