Conan Exiles 3.0

Honestly I’m not …against the idea, just realised for a moment that it would affect me directly due to my base location…

Having to negotiate a Megalodon while swimming with a thrall in hand is going to be a challenge. Falling off of cliffs in the dark will be the least of my worries :grinning_face_with_smiling_eyes:

Not happening. People need to let go of the engine updates. Especially giant ones like a UE5.

It depends…
In private servers that this exists as a rule , most of the server players do not log in through raid timers. I believe this will happen a lot in official servers too. So like @Firecrow said this will be awesome ONLY for private servers. This will help a lot the admins. You know in private pvp servers when a base is raided 99% admin will receive complains from the clan that lost. After this admin will have to spend a lot of time of investigation and if the team that lost was right, again admin has to read all the event log to provide to the ones that lost. So instead of playing in his own server his beloved game he (she) ends up to become a boxing sack for every player in this damn server. The irony???
After all these maybe a day or two after the ones that lost leave the server most of the times :man_shrugging:.
So…
For private servers, dynamic building setting system IS a necessity.

@JohnnyWylder forgive my off topic conversation here.
Thank you

This x 1000.

They’d probably be better off remaking the game from scratch than trying to port what they have to UE5.

You are most likely right about it not happening, and that is why I said it was my biggest dream for them to make some sort of engine upgrade… We are still allowed to dream of things even though they are not likely to happen

Dreaming is fine, as long as it doesn’t make what you actually get disappointing in comparison. For example, any upgrade in graphical fidelity CE could realistically expect would feel underwhelming for anyone who had UE5 and its gorgeous techdemos in mind (which we have probably all seen at this point).

Same as people who dream of winning the lottery: Comparatively small, but infinitely more likely gains don’t excite them - to the point where they might not even bother to pursue said small, incremental gains because - compared to the imaginary life as a lottery winner - it feels pointless. (this particular point was inspired by a somewhat distressing conversation I had with an old friend lately so it’s not aimed at anyone here or anything Conan Exiles related).

This is also likely. It would make sense why they gave us the pick up walls now - because new camps will appear (or the old ones will be expanded) and we will have to move our bases.

As they added new camps on Siptah, they may not have to worry about players as Early Access reserves that there may be (drastic) changes. On the Exiled Lands map, players have been around for so long that they can’t just nuke their bases - they have to take care of them (and pick up walls is of great help to the relocation).

Why could new camps appear anyway?

Saving slaves from cages (and other little add-ons) has been warmly welcomed by players and therefore they can also appear on the Exiled Lands map. More importantly: Isn’t that part of the settlement system?

Just read what is right before the last screenshot in this very old blog post:

“Thralls will see an expansion through the settlement system (…) We’re also going to be adding a system for rescuing already captured thralls, getting them to come and work for you without needing to break them on the Wheel of Pain.”

It would be enough to add only a few elements from this system and it would be easy the largest extension. It would require a lot of map changes. Most camps have no room for an new add-ons. And instead of reorganizing them, it is better to build new ones (this is just a faster solution).

I think new camps will be coming someday, even if not in 3.0 update.

@Mikey and @Multigun, while an engine upgrade is out of the question, do you think an improvement of the EL graphics to match IoS is possible?

What like volumetric fog/lighting? Sure. Funcom (I believe it was Dennis, if I remember right, but don’t quote me) said as much during one of their dev streams. Well in terms of that they could do it someday (but no hard commitments). However EL was made much earlier then Siptah, it doesn’t have the same optimization tricks that were done for Siptah (since EL was their first UE4 map). Or didn’t at the time, they have been doing memory saving things (and other back end improvements) across the board for many months now (I mean, they have always cared about performance costs. Things just really took off right about when Siptah hit Early Access).

Anyways, I’m not really the guy to discuss WHAT back end would be required, or the technological know how to understand the major differences. Maps and map design aren’t my thing enough. I get the basics, but that’s about as far as I’ve gone into it. Mod authors (and Rob from Funcom, who mods in his free time) who made Savage Wilds would be the ones I would point to for the nitty gritty.

So, long story short, could it happen someday? Sure. Will it? Dunno. Depends on how much back end work the dev team feels is worthwhile in terms of allocation of resources.

For what it’s worth, I hate the lighting on Siptah with a burning passion (and the fog) - I am desperately hoping that it will not be added to the Exiled Lands, as that may actually force me to stop playing entirely. Aside from anything else, every time I play Siptah for longer than an hour or so, it triggers a migraine - probably the constant shifting from eye-straining twilight to retina-burning brightness every time you step in or out of a shadow, or a cloud passes in front of the sun. I recognise that many people seem to like the Siptah lighting and consider it an upgrade (though, honestly I don’t see it), but I really hope that Funcom leaves those of us who don’t like it somewhere that we can continue to play.

(I even tried buying an upgraded computer in the hope it might look better - but that’s a whole 'nother saga - though apparently an end is finally in sight (after 4+ months) and the money should be back in my account by the end of this week  )

It’s nothing what anyone need in this game but I would love it have some more friendly action at my base, so I want to share my suggestion of an other thread

If we take one sentence out of the latest stream then we can speculate further:

“You guys literally probably won’t even believe it.” ( 1:09:14 )

That thing we might not believe might not be as obvious as sorcery or a map expansion - it is far too obvious. So maybe 3.0 update will crossover game with some non-Conan world or add a single-player story campaign? Or something more incredible :unicorn: ( flying rhinoceros )

Any wild  ideas?

I for one hope it’s a partnership with GIANTS software. Farming Simulator 22 just came out and a lot of the mechanics from it would be a perfect fit for exiles. I mean what is best in life?

Maximizing yield… Buying big tractors, and extending your farm with help from your friends to build a massive operation together.

I have just always felt like there should really be a lot more corn in the exiles lands…

I honestly thought that was going to happen when siptah came out :frowning: like different hair colours , beards , hairstyles. At least we got different dyes that was a big W
