Crom HATES people worshiping him. He will probably destroy you if you worship him too much. Hes a very very, angry annnoyed god and he wont even help Conan, his favorite guy. Which is why Conan is ALMOST a baby Crom. (but Conan is probably 500 times nicer than Crom and Conan isnt a very nice guy to begin with)

Im down for Crom religion starting the player off with 20 extra armor because the player is so tough.

It definately would be cool to find some way to add “Crom Steel” to the game. maybe wayy in the future to add above starmetal? Like twice refined starmetal = Crom Steel that EVERYONE has access too not just Crom religion (because we stole it already according to the lore)

Me I think worshiping Crom should instead of giving you cool or useful stuff from a shrine just fills your purge meter faster… With his “Avitar” not being an avatar but just a purge that attacks anyone that tries to call upon Crom.

It’s difficult to design something like choosing Crom and actually having something feature wise in return than having nothing. I understand the philosophy behind the current choice too. However, feature wise this type of game design is a slippery slope and should be carefully seriously considered. Think about this as a product first and then how the theme can enrich it. It is great that at least Crom is mentioned and discussed in the game, not fully left out.

While I agree that Crom as the deity that has the most opposite approach when it comes to worshipping and the like, choosing Crom still needs to yield something to players. Buying a product and potentially receiving nothing is not an ideal situation to a customer. So here are some elements to consider:

A ) assembly
B ) swapping
C ) destruction
D ) faring

1 ) directions
2 ) forms
3 ) sizes
4 ) colours

Using these as guidelines and considering what Crom states for, I’d say choosing Crom could bestow players the art of bending steel right away and / or giving them the ability to have a more experienced character to start with (rough tutelage of Crom has made you strong, fierce and cunning). Choosing Crom would therefore be a sort of an easy mode to a degree, when it comes to revealing certain recipes up front, but of course gathering resources would still be our chore to perform. I also thought that Crom could be given as the deity to all players who play the singleplayer / local coop, but that would upset some players beyond reasonable no doubt. Any other ideas?

Crom is fine as a deity choice and completely in line with Howard’s lore. There’s absolutely no need to change him into something he’s not meant to be.

did you watch the Video?

did you cut and past that out of a class room text book? I’m forming my opinion off of 700hr of play time

Result of deduction, induction and abduction of the past 23 years. Why do you ask?

some of this does not apply (Ie) size there all the same size did you watch my video?

They are merely guidelines or guide terms (my personal trick of sorts). They are not supposed to fit anything, but essentially help us to deduce, induce and abduce what we observe. To further describe the observed, their behaviour, past, present and future.

For example the term assembly is about bringing together some sort of essence to create something of another. Fertility acts this way for example, the art of building. Swapping is about changing at least the place of two essences. Trading and exchanging follow this pattern to a degree. Destruction refers to the opposite of assembly albeit they both usually go hand in hand, swapping also to some extent. Faring is about navigation and recognition. Directions is simply what it implies, but can also refer to meters getting full or marching distances. Forms relate to shapes and morphosis. Size reminds us to consider proportions and that not everything can be seen with bare eyes (being so tiny) while some are so colossal and so near that we haven’t noticed them. Colour is important too, but also relates to light, shading and transparency.

When I’m thinking about issues and solutions, I use these quadrants to help me focus so I can map out the lay of the land, in a way.

Yes, I watched your video. It’s night here now so I am going to sleep a bit and get back to you as soon as I can. I will refresh my memory about the video by watching it again too coz my memory is a bit hazy at times.

Good night

Anyone asking for Crom to be more than he is, including adding something silly like “Crom Steel”, does not understand Crom.

And speaking of “Crom Steel”, such a thing displays a lack of understanding about the riddle of steel in that movie. Did you forget that at the end Conan shatters that very sword?

lol, did not ask for Crom Steel. Bhahaha watch the video again what did I talk about Crafting and harvesting bonus

my 1st video on Crom Video

Well i guess he hasnt broken it yet because Crom Sword is in the game lol!

Yes, I’m aware of that sword. It’s called Sword of Crom because it’s powerful and draining to use. It’s right there in the description “not made for or by Crom”.

You guys keep asking for things that by definition don’t belong. And it’s not even a little thing. It’s one of the big, foundational structures of the Conan universe. Crom flat out does not interact at all with mortal lives beyond giving them strength and courage at birth unless it’s to smack down some weak idiot that thought praying to him was a good idea. In fact, compared to the other gods there is little evidence that he exists at all and he likes it that way.

your not watching my Videos I’m saying the same things as you

Crom Rework Video 2.5

Damn thanks for schooling us. I havent gotten that sword yet and I thought it was Crom’s sword.

The Cimmerian steel stuff seems so powerful that they would have to take away the ability to earn and summon other Avatars. Otherwise EVERYONE is just gonna pick Crom for the free resource mining.

Not everyone who ask necessarily ask Crom to become something they are not, but because they feel that this game as a product has a hole in it. Some ideas may boast conflict of what Crom is and isn’t, but to fill the hole doesn’t need to make Crom something they aren’t. I sense plenty of ways how to fill the hole in the game and still have Crom be the way he is. We need a bigger canvas to draw the image on.

Sidenote: Premium items have the same conflict, of what they shouldn’t be; power versus cosmetics. Pay-to-win versus pay-to-awe.

Crom was betrayed, dried of his secrets. Because he went berserk, triumphed as the victor and later calmed, needless to say that no wonder he doesn’t care about looking back; why he behaves as he does is clear as the sun shines. He can decide to change if he wants to, but let’s leave that possibility for the moment and focus on what our choice would bring, coz as I said - I think we don’t need to change him to fill the hole.

Think about the side of Conan, Cimmerian people, steel and Crom have that you’ve grown up with. I read some comic volumes, but not many of them for example. I watched the movies, but I somehow like the animated series most. Okay so the challenge here is to keep Crom out of the picture. What else do we have that could be mentioned when one goes to pick Crom as their deity?

What I can gather, just because the deity’s name is Crom, the text below doesn’t have to imply that whatever the player gets is “given” to them or “bestowed” upon them. Devs can with relative ease change the text to imply that the player choosing Crom doesn’t get anything from them, but is forced to start as the a player who cuts the other player down from the cross instead of Conan doing it for example, and that this character instead begins the game with couple levels under their belt already plus the knowledge of bending steel. Of course now the question is that should the religion be chosen first, to make character creation transition smoother or is the current order of choices okay? Are players okay with some other players starting couple levels ahead of them? Are players okay with some players having the knowledge of steel right off the bat? Of course this would make them a target more interesting compared to the rest and a source of perhaps getting steel items. Is this challenge okay with those who want to follow the path Crom laid before them? Should these players start the game from somewhere else perhaps?

Any other ideas?
