"Connection lost" continues to be a significant issue

It’s funny how myself, my clan mates, as well as other players on an Ofiicial Server had never experienced Lost Connections BEFORE the mid February update, and continue to do so alarmingly on a regular basis. So regular in fact that I have given up reporting them as the little time I have spare to do so is spent trying to log back into the game.

Yeah i didnt find anything conclusive from those logs. Infact each disconnect was different, but still piling errors will always lead to a failure and those need to be fixed and not swept under the rug. It would be far more valuable to run the game in debugger.

Would like to add my experience here to those who’ve already noted that this is happening to private servers, too. I run a private server for myself and my partner - so 2 people - and we don’t build crazy - 1 base and several map rooms. So not a lot of burden on the server. Last night we went to the caves with the children of Jhil. We both dc’d at the Scraps when we engaged a group of 2 normal harpies and one single skull mini boss - so 3 mobs. We later dc’d when we fought one of the 3 skull bosses (forget the name), as well as an additional dc when we encountered another small group of regular mobs.

It was really disappointing and frustrating, so much so that we almost logged out for the night to go play Elder Scrolls. If the problem continues, we may be spending more time there than with CE, which we both have been enjoying way more than we do ESO. I really hope they figure out what the issue is; when it works this is a great game. However that has been an epitaph for many & I really hope Conan Exiles does not join that group.

Today Siptah pve-c lost connection during maelstrom 6 times partner multiple times had to shut down ps5 and still multiple times to log back in only to have connection lost again we where going after elephant hide near grave yard. Server 6090. No I don’t have pictures to busy saving my stuff and thralls we managed to save part of our stuff during this crap will leave immediately when maelstrom shows up again.

I lost a Dalensia to Rock Slide. I couldn’t stay connected long enough to hit it. I get the message and it takes minutes to get back in. No fun.

Consider yourself lucky. I lost four, all wearing Godbreaker armor.

What about those of us who did provide ample information and logs to resolve the issue several months ago? What about those of us who are in the SysAdmin field that spent many hours proving out the issues? I have another thread where I proved out it is an issue with the Servers themselves? Even to the extent of Hosting our own server on our own host box? This issue is easily tested out (which Ive done in the other thread, read comments for link). To this issue that has been happening for months now that Funcom seems to completely ignore. Here is what I will tell you their silence is doing: I will not be buying Dune or any other Funcom game. Their lack of support and customer service is staggering. When you have a community that goes through the effort to not only notify you of a serious game ending issue, but does the troubleshooting and you STILL don’t bother to fix it? Extremely unprofessional. Shame on you. I’d put in a ticket, but lets face it, funcom just closes them like they don’t matter.

I guess I’m a glutton for punishment.

I got another Purge last night on Official Server #3531 PVE. This Cimmerian Beast Tamers purge occurred at 6:10 and they came at 6:20 (right on time!), so it seemed like things were going to go well. After knocking out Donia, Keeper of the Sacred Hides, the purge went to hell and gave me “Lost Connection” until 6:53 when it let me back into the server and the purge was done. No thralls died, and only an Archer 1 was knocked out when I got back in, so it could’ve been worse. But it was just over and over “Lost Connection” the second the loading screen was done.

I really enjoy the purge, and I make it one of the main focuses of my gameplay. Conan is the only game I play, partly because if I didn’t stay logged in for hours, I’d never get the purge in the first place (but that’s my decision and I’m happy with it). The fact the purge is the worst example of “Lost Connection” is really devastating for players like myself. I enjoy capturing rare thralls from the purge and levelling them up to 20, both of those things have been greatly inhibited by this “Lost Connection” issue.

I was on Siptah today, farming the Red Mother. Normally, not an issue. Kept getting kicked this time. Especially when any small dragons or shoebills aggro’d into the battle from nearby. The moment a small dragon would run up, boom! Disconnect. After two times killing her, I cut my losses. No Final Breath this time. :expressionless:

I guess this is still a problem. It’s hard for me to say since the only thing I do now is teleport to my bases to reset timers, and then log back off. That’s what my game play consists of, now. I log on, reset timers, and log back off to go play something else.

I’m done buying stuff from the bazaar, or Crom coins. I’ll not give another dime for a game I can’t actually play.

I only log on to reset timers right now. I wonder how long it will be before I just stop logging on altogether.

I played without thralls the other day and didn’t crash. Need a couple of more play sessions to consider this an alternative other than just building all day.

The question I have is how the person who raised this issue is supposed to know a 2017 item no longer affects the game.

While I understand your frustration and the forums remain a place where we must distill the vitriol from the data, I believe the approach outlined above to be counter productive.

When did the massive amount of disconnects start getting reported?

What changed in the game prior to this?

My theory is that it is a Funcom Live services Bazaar validation issue causing both wild ping swings, lag, and disconnects as the issue was not prevalent prior to the bazaar, has been since, and has gotten much worse since the Great Authentication failure incident where we were requested to brute force connect to the game for a weekend as no mechanism existed to undo the change propagated the previous Thursday or Friday.

That should be enough for the devs to investigate. If I am wrong, wonderful, I am wrong.

I’ve been going back and forth playing without thralls for a few weeks now and only rarely levelling up the one or two left that aren’t 20, while it helps a bit, it doesn’t solve the issue during Purges, and it also isn’t much of an actual solution, as it means you can basically never level up thralls anymore. But really anything to make things a bit better is always appreciated

The only place I have not had the “Lost Connection” issue is up at the Frost Temple. I don’t know if this is because there are very very few bases in this area or what. I fight all the mobs, including the Smith and the Boss, and never had a “Lost Connection”. I pull three Frost Giants at a time in a few locations, and again, never had the issue.

Not to mention you have no authority for these fixes and your efforts are not against the posters but actively trying to get relevant data that you know FC will need and not get squirreled.

EXACTLY! That theory is sound but I have yet to have an issue with getting DC when my characters is all by themselves. A FC live issue would affect me solo as much as me with thrall but it’s just with thralls in follow that I get DC. I think there was several optimizations that happened to our thralls in the past that didn’t get activated after this chapter 3 update and now we are all suffering for it.

For all discussing this issue, can someone confirm they are getting consistent disconnects without thralls?

I can confirm that I still experience the ‘Lost Connection’ issue without having a thrall following me, especially when npcs are fighting one another (regardless whether they are golems, or not).

Then @Pugilist has the most sound theory. Thank you for confirming

That was during the first year of the Early Access period, dated 2 March 2017. The game changed a lot before it was released, including a new version of the UE to support the Xbox and PlayStation in August of 2017. The game left Early Acces on 8 May 2018. Since then, there have been minor tweaks to the engine used for the game. Based on the posts here, the connection issues in question started after the issue with the Playfab service. I have also noted a large number of posts concerning issues unrelated to connection issues.

Again, if you do not have any information concerning connection issues, please do not comment on this thread. Find an appropriate thread related to the issue you are having.

I have the feeling the frequency is random. For example i have bears and Sabertooths in the near of my base which I am killing everytime while going on a journey or coming back from one.
Usualy I aggro one of them and going to the next to fight both of them. I had the feeling this aggroing of the second one causes the disconnect. But after hundreds of disconnects I can say even on the first one I get disconnects sometimes.
And some days it happens once and some days everytime I pass them.

When it starts? For me after the last chapter (Playstation) . And I heard about before the chapter in some posts for test live the first time.

Didn’t it start before the current chapter release on pc? I don’t know if I am right but I think it starts after this weekend where pc players had connection problems to funcoms liveservices?
