PVE official server 3011, a couple of my bases just randomly disappeared. Not decay timer related, I was just there this afternoon and everything was as it should be. I check the event log and it’s all saying “x has lost stability”.
All I see are a few placables, all with decay timer of 360-whatever hours and my thralls. Where the heck did everything go?
It was weird, I was running around earlier, then died and when respawning, was only given the “desert” option. I then ran to one of my transport stones along noob river, which was still there, and continued to collect by stuff from my body. I then closed the game and came back later. I stepped into a transport stone and discovered that a couple were missing. So I went to investigate. So yeah, my main base and one other are disappeared and now I can’t log back in. It “loads” for a long time then says it disconnected from the game.
I fear you may have been reported and banned. From experience, the first step is an admin wipe of a base/bases. Then, on server reboot, the ban takes effect, effectively wiping all of your bases.
This process is what moved me to private servers in 2021.
@Mojojojo0 Welcome to the Forum. There are people who have made false reports to get folks they don’t like to get kicked from official servers. Have you had issues with anyone on the server?
You can review the linked thread below for examples of landclaim abuse.
In most cases people who are not aware they did anything wrong get hooked on the “decorative landclaim” section.
So if your base was significantly larger than needed… contained outer decoration like separate foundations with torches… or it was a mini-village in some RP style with several houses “for thralls” etc. then that would qualify as decorative landclaim - essentially claiming more land than you need for core gameplay.
Official servers don’t approve that kind of playstyle as they’re trying to make sure it can house as many players as possible and they all need a space for their base. Ofc staff only takes action if someone actually reported you or someone nearby as they don’t go looking unless there’s a report, like others above said.
It was a bit large, but it was in the jungle, where nobody ever goes (Messenger’s Respite I think it’s called) and across the river from a clan’s base that actually stretches maybe three or four map squares up the river. I have actually had to report them a couple of times (they have a huge wall blocking access around it, keeping Rotbranch Island to themselves) but nothing was ever done about that. This is really disappointing.
Dude, why is that some peoples go to?
It may happen but having spent years on the public servers and seeing how the majority of players have never read the ToS, I’m more inclined to think funcom finally investigated a report.
Or they build their base using others as a reference not realizing those others violate the ToS.
Please don’t think “someone” means one person. It takes multiple reports for funcom to investigated, One report they are going to blow off; in my experience.
Does not matter where you build if the build is in violation. Really not sure why people think location makes a difference.
You didn’t build around it did you? That is a POI and blocking is a ToS violation.
You got to hit that nail regular. You didn’t get banned because of one report. If you ever complained about that base in chat, you may have been reported by that clan. And I mean the clan.
The biggest issue; my pet peeve, is how badly funcom operates the ToS system. It fails for most everyone. At one end you have egregious violations going on for years and on the other exploitive reporting.
An overhaul of the system is just another grease spot where a horse once stood. Conan has quite a few because the developer seem indifferent at best.
They had to lose 2/3 of their player base with the constant bugged out ages before they realized it wasn’t working.
Yes, we built around the POI, but we have “Gatehouses” at natural entry points, without actual gates to close.
No, I didn’t discuss reporting the other clan anywhere - I’m not in any online chat groups or anything. This was the first time I mentioned it.
Finally, I got a message when trying to sign in today. Apparently I’ve been suspended for one week for “Using the building system to bully or harass other players”. Which is quite staggering really, because I play PVE because I don’t want to interfere with other players. The only contact I ever have with others in the server is when I offer them help gathering building materials. Last week I dropped a T4 fighter and armour in front of a pretty new player in the server.
DING!
Gate and free access just make you think it’s not a violation.
What the fothermuck is that?
New one on me.
I can understand some one reporting it for blocking access to a POI; well I wouldn’t with the gates open, but that is a different ToS rule, so
The biggest flaw in the system; in my opinion, is expecting us to be HOA agents.
A player who owns a gate can close it at will, it’s some seconds decision and some materials only. So open gate or not is considered blockage. With all do respect, it’s not a rule mistake here, it’s a players mistake. No poi should be rounded for any reason, the map is big we can build elsewhere!
Now @Mojojojo0, it doesn’t matter if your builds are open for people. It doesn’t matter if you help others too.
There are multiple feelings this mother nature gave us and some of them are evil… For example envy is evil! So keep low profile on official servers and never give to others the opportunity to hurt you again.
I am sorry you had to go through this but in the end of the day try to take a lesson from it.
I got suspended for this exact thing once, probably a good two years ago now.
But, I definitely did do it.
Evidently, building a small house outside of another players base, and putting a laughing thrall inside it, wasn’t very amusing to Papa Funcom. I caught 14 for that and watched my own bases decay.
Funcom has clearly stated and we have all seen the proof that they do not consider walling off world bosses to be against the rules. That island is not a named POI either, so walling it off is irrelevant to gameplay. Nothing reportable
Lmao I’d say don’t assume anyone ever goes there or not. Personally I know exactly where that is. Isn’t there a brewery specialty recipe there? Maybe ppl just trying to complete their collections are coming by. It’s a nice area to have a community accessible transportory stone
