Death While Off Line PVE

Logged off for 4 days and went on vacation. Logged in to my character dying of thirst, no biggie, happened before. Only this time there was no body to harvest. All armor, weapons, and all loot I was carrying is gone???

I would advise you to have a cupboard or a iron chest where you have your character 's main spawn point and leave all your stuff in it every time you are logging out of the game.

Your body remains while you are logged out on everything except single player.
If your body dies, it will decay. If it decays, any remaining items may decay as well.

It is best to log out near a spawn point with goods in a chest as mentioned above. If it will be a long log out, do so in your base for longer decay times.

In fact there is one server settings: “Body remains in the world after logout”. All the official servers have this feature enabled but some private may disable it so that logged-out players temporarily go to the astral plane and do not die of thirst, hunger, cold or heat.

An almost same case like yours happened to me on the server 3009 at the first 8 days of April, but mine was way worse than yours.

I logged in the game and found my character in the dungeon in the city of thieves clanless and with all his gear gone.

I logged out in my bed. Logged back in to a died of thirst message and half health and that was it. Back in loin cloth with no body to harvest. Never had this happen in 4 years of play

I will from now on. Having to use rss to remake everything when it was not necessary was upsetting

Oof. I remember several bug reports about this and I don’t think they’ve fixed the bug yet.

I would recommend not logging out on top of your bed and, as others have mentioned, it’s a good idea to put everything (or at least the stuff you don’t want to risk losing) in a chest before logging off.

Also, make sure that this chest is on the floor, not on a table or a shelf or any other placeable, because there have been bug reports about chests on placeables that mysteriously lose stability. They haven’t been able to nail that bug, either, so better be safe.

Sucks that you lost your stuff :frowning:
