Dedicated Server App keeps blanking out the server password after a daily restart of the app

Game mode: Online private
Type of issue: Bug
Server type: PvP
Region: North America

Windows Server 2016 OS.
Conand dedicated server app 1.0.28

Dedicated server conan software blanks out the server password on its regular schedule restart that i set for 2am.

This is used as a private server game.

It is a auto restart of the server app and not the server itself.

It seems to happen 3 out of 4 times with the auto restart.

I keep pressing save after reapplying the server password. Then i restart and it will be fine. But on a daily schedule restart of the app will clear the password. Program runs as admin.

Please provide a step-by-step process of how the bug can be reproduced. The more details you provide us with the easier it will be for us to find and fix the bug:

  1. Check app after schedule app restart

Hi, thanks for the report.

Could you provide me your ini files (engine.ini, game.ini and serversettings.ini) which should be in the ConanExilesDedicatedServer\ConanSandbox\Saved\Config\WindowsServer folder?

Additionally, could you:

  • Open Engine.ini in a text editor, and validate that you correctly have a “[OnlineSubsystem]” section, with a “ServerPassword=(your password here)” entry that matches your password
  • Start the DedicatedServerLauncher and see that you have the password correctly displayed
  • Press Save, and Quit the Dedicated Server Launcher
  • Check again with the text editor that your password is still there
  • Go to the root of ConanExilesDedicatedServer and manually launch “StartServer.bat”
  • When the server has been started for a few seconds, check in the text editor if the password is still there
  • Manually close the server and do the server start again a number of time, to see if at some point the password is gone

Basically I’m trying to figure out if it’s the Game Server itself or the Server Launcher that removes the password.

Thanks!

(Side note: Normally the program should not have to run as admin, should run fine normally)

I’m replying mobile as i am current out and about. How would i directly send the files to you as i do not want to release the information out in a open forum. Also i am running as admin as i have the software on the root of the c: drive incase my brother or i have to rdp into the server to do a manual reset, we can go directly to the root of the c: instead of digging around the other person’s profile and waiting forever just for the files to list.

I’ve successfully used private messages for that before

Interesting, @Toolguy, I was not able to do that. I tried with the Upload button and was told it only accepted jpgs, pngs, etc. I was trying to send a zipped save folder to Ignasis.

What did I miss?

Possibly nothing, what I asked people to send me was text configuration files and screenshots, for the text files they basically added them in “preformatted text” section in their posts.

That being said, I asked to our community site people if we could have an official Funcom system to share stuff with players (kind of private dropbox/google drive/whatever) to help with support requests in a safe and protected environment (you know, GDPR compliant, regularly flushed when not necessary anymore, etc…)

Good idea ! Also, my reading skills could use some upgrades since I now see clearly your request

Another suggestion was external storage with limited access, like my Google cloud, but that can be a real pain.

Thanks for clearing that up !

I sent replied back. go figure, there is a outage at my business right now so i wont be able to pull and files until tomorrow. such luck. if i didnt have bad luck i wouldnt have any. lol

@MDic

I just got informed that there used to be a bug in the game with the admin panel: Sometimes, when changing some of the server settings, the server password would end up being lost when the server rewrote the ini file.

I was supposed to have been fixed, but could that be something? Did you (or some admins on your server) change some settings on the server, which could explain the password vanishing?

just turning off and on purge mode is the only thing i have done as i am the only admin on my server as of the past 2 weeks. before that there was a issue with the day night dawn dusk cycle after the major patch earlier this month but i didn’t have a cleared password incident when i corrected it.
