Disappointing "Features" In Conan Exiles That Could Use A Change

I’ve been playing Conan off and on with my gaming group for nearly 8 years and there are a few things that need attention.

Using a construction hammer should be exclusively for “building pieces” and not placeables. Everything from camp fires to map rooms should be made in a crafting bench. If you want an example of this done right look to Rust. I applaud the attempt at changing how building works but you missed the mark and the UI feels cluttered.

Combat has become clunky and unresponsive over the years. I do understand wanting to slow things down but it just feels awful in its current state and the PVPer friends in my circle refuse to play because of it. Bows take too long to “charge” and shots aren’t accurate enough. Spears are slow and reduce your mobility. The list goes on. The only current weapons in a good place are katanas for players and maces for thralls.

Hitboxes haven’t improved at all from day one. After climbing a rock face you still fall off when transitioning over the ledge. You still get glued down because enemies have to be point blank in your face when they attack. It also doesn’t help that there’s no cool down on being stun locked. If you take a stun/parry/whatever you call it you should be immune to stuns for a few seconds so you can fight your way out. Horses get stuck on random tree limbs and rocks when riding.

Huge portions of the Exiled Lands need to be removed. No one I know who doesn’t want to hide a PVP base uses the jungle. It’s boring and if you removed it completely or reworked it I wouldn’t complain.

Mobs should be more universally strong instead of super easy and then super hard. Any and all dungeons (even in starter areas) should be for groups who have mid to high tier gear. Most players don’t go to dungeons at lower levels. There should be a sense of danger and a solo with epic gear and a legendary shouldn’t be able to run a dungeon alone.

Edit: I also want to add that you need to decide if you want power leveling in your game. Everyone I know goes from level 0 to level 60 in just a few days before starting any content. The progression is all screwed up. If you want to leave Legionary Statues and Golem Heads to power level then make that clear. Otherwise get rid of it. My suggestion would be to overhaul journey steps to be the main way to level and make it so you don’t have to do things in order. If I craft a torch before it tells me to it should count.

You die as easy as your foes. I like hp as it is.

Campfires?
Require a crafting bench?

Bwahahahahahah!

While this one agrees that what and how many things are made needs to be cleaned up…
The two examples you just mentioned are patently absurd.

I’ll rephrase. Construction hammers should be exclusive to building pieces and everything else should be craftable in a workbench other than minor recipes that are handcrafted. You know exactly what I meant. Map rooms should be crafted in a workbench and placeable but campfires in your inventory. – Bottom line the point I’m making is the construction hammer is something that should just be for structures instead of cluttering up the ui. Nothing absurd about it.

I disagree. Mobs die way too fast. The progression is all over the place. I’ll also go into more detail. When I say mobs I mean mobs from cities and dungeons. It’s way too easy to level and players generally (unless they purposely nerf themselves) level up quickly and wait until higher levels to tackle content intended for lower levels. Either make it so all enemies scale with your level or make anything not on noob river harder in general. Progression is screwed.

This one quoted exactly what you posted.
This one is disinclined to psionicly reach out thru the aether and rummage around in your mind for how your meaning diverges from your own typed words.

But to be clear, you want the maproom, which is a massive structure, to be crafted on the little artisan bench (cluttering up that bench’s UI) and then carried in inventory to the place it will be put down?

That’s just as absurd as carrying a couple of elephants around tucked in the exile’s cloaca.

Not that it isn’t possible and consistent with the way the game works, but it still makes less sense than building such a massive structure with the tool used for building structures.

Also, what crafting bench do you propose the crafting benches should be built at?

This would be my preference as well, but it is not a universal opinion. I know some people would actually prefer everything be on the hammer and do away with artisan benches entirely.

I find the jungle boring as well, but I would never advocate removing parts of the map. I think most people want more map, not less, no matter what is in it.

I strongly disagree. This game has always been made with the intention that it is viable solo, even if not easy. I only play solo and I do not want to be forced to team up with people to access parts of the game.

Overall, your list looks more like a lot of opinions on things you don’t like on a personal level.

I would politely disagree. Conan Exiles is not an MMO, it was marketed and sold as also having a Singleplayer mode. Singleplayers and Online Solo players are paying customers too, and they should not be excluded from content. If you want to play in a clan that is fine, but it should remain a personal choice, not a mandate in order to be able to complete large swathes of content. Sure at this point you could say ‘take a thrall’, and players who like an Authority build or struggle with dungeons do. But we should not be forced to take one in order to complete dungeons. The community had the bad old days of pokethrall and it sucked. The player should be the hero of their adventure and that means being able to solo content, if we choose to, should remain viable.

Jungle is my home! Yes i wouldn’t mind to have a new dungeon location there but it’s the best designed area from all.
There’s not a single person in this game even after 10k hours that knows jungle.
So although i wouldn’t mind additions, i wholeheartedly disagree to be removed.

If you have time, then, read this…it´s highly recomended a coffe or a cigarrete!!!

I like the jungle, the lights, the shadows, when night comes and you, lucky guy, can build a campfire without a crafting table, and put two or three plates from the Black Hand pirates on the ground, or a glass… and just sit and look at the stars… or wait for the meat or porridge to finish cooking on the fire. To build I prefer the highlands or even the snowy area, the light at midday is more beautiful, the buildings look better, although they look good in the jungle… I really like the decoration of the desert, Sempermeru, the Darfari camps, the statue area with the oasis and the giant crocodile… the dead city, but the buildings look worse… since a few updates ago, the desert has been greatly improved, it is getting better…

You can finish all the dungeons alone, the only bad thing is that you need a lot of time, with help, cooperative or multiplayer, or with one or two slaves, it takes less time, it is not a good idea to spend more than an hour on a suit formula… the flooded city takes a long time, alone, with two well-prepared warriors, not so much, you have to be careful but you finish it in less time.
The desert dungeon guardian, before the warmaster, where you get the advanced weapon upgrade formulas and the legion suit, if I remember correctly, is over forty minutes, timed, by yourself, no friends, no slaves, hit, somersault, run, backflip, hit, somersault, run, backflip, hit, somersault, run, backflip, etc, etc, etc… then, the war master isn’t that hard… the woman on guard kills you with one combo… well, there used to be a woman, although sometimes it’s a man. I once went with a level 3 estygian slaver, I had another level 2,both were very similar, they were still old ones, they didn’t increase life like the new ones, you couldn’t see the real level they had,… jokes aside, with a club, they would knock all NPCs to the ground in north-west part of Sempermeru, where there are usually level 4 thralls, or I could smoke a cigarette looking somewhere else, not at the screen, while they killed the black rhinoceros next to Sempermeru… the guardian of the war master, with one combo left my Stygian Slaver III, about to die… damn, what a bummer, I ran away trembling… it’s been two months in multiplayer, and I usually go out with them,on or the other, although I have berserkers, Vanirs named thralls, named thralls from the volcano.
The two slavers, were the first ones I got in that game, first the 3rd, second the 2nd… they had resisted even a purge against big blue dragon and white dragon, skulls…and that damn guardian…almost killed the first one…Pinfa and Tomfa, I named them. I left the cave trembling, when I got to the corridor where no skull follows you anymore… i saw Pinfa still alive and I get a breath, ufff, almost killed!!!, it’s a *** thing that an NPC kills your companion, if it’s a player, it’s a *** thing too… but, anyway… uff… then, I went in alone and killed her…A Level III thrall with differents combo attacks, old ones, not news, with an armor over more than 1000 armor points… and he almost died with one hit… I killed the war master a lot of times and I put legendary suits to some warriors…that´s a bad thing to do,almost killed!!!,as renvege i killed him many times…you don´t deen to kill her so many times, there is a secret passage and can go directly against war master just running,no need to kill the corridor monsters…
So, well, to entertain it’s better to go with someone, otherwise it takes a long time to do some dungeons.
Sorry for the long post, what a a long write.
