The regular volcano thralls seem to be stronger in combat than the disciples but I’ve never bothered capturing the disciples. Are they better in some way?
I might just stick to the T3 and T4 volcano thralls if not.
The Disciples are fairly weak comparatively, they make up for that by being super easy to capture en masse of course. They’re still stronger than black hand and other “low tier” thralls, though.

Ok, so if you’re on a server with a lot of other people, disciples are better but in single player the standard volcano thralls would be better?
Volcano thralls are currently the best thralls in the game. Use devotees to make a large mob to cover ground within a perimeter wall. you can farm 16 of them with 2 greater wheels in less than an hour.
Use the IIs and IIIs to control key rooms. Fighter Is are like devotees but with a better starting weapon. The volcano named fighters/archers are the best of the best. A Spinas for example can 2 shot another player with a telith sorrow that’s not prepared for it. Also if you’re on a PVP server expect that alphas will routinely block, land claim and/or destroy any wheel they find in or near the volcano. It may be easier to farm berserkers in the mounds which are the next best thing to volcano thralls.

Oh well that depends. I don’t think getting regular Volcano thralls would be that competitive either way - could be wrong though.

I’ve seen a couple named thralls too, I think it was an archer. Is it still true that you can no longer knock out the devotee leader?
Correct Vathis has been gender-locked and immune to knocking out.

Indeed. Probably the right move - top tier thralls should never be a guaranteed spawn!

It does make it kind of boring if you can just go to the volcano shrine and farm him guaranteed every 10 mins.

Yup. I mean full disclosure I totally did that myself (farmed Vathis), but it gets really boring really quickly to just get top-tier thralls with virtually no effort. I prize my randomly gotten Volcano T4’s much higher, certainly.
