Discuss: Rules about Walls and Villages

Dang, glad we are able to share examples and get feedback. This thread has been insightful to say the least.

Not at all. And thanks. Like I said, I knew I was getting a bit carried away as I was writing

I wasn’t really specifically talking about shadowy cabals and Funcom - although I’m sure we’ve all noticed the “completely unrelated concerned players” showing up within days of each other and making threads asking for the same thing, phrased in similar ways, and backed up by one another and a handful of new accounts. I’m not saying people need to be forum regulars to have an opinion or anything. It’s just suspicious and transparent (to me at least). I don’t like people using tricks to make it look like their viewpoint is more widely held in the community than it is, and of greater concern. I don’t like it in real life politics and I don’t like it here. It subverts the ability of the group to make good decisions and I wanted to point it out.

I can’t speak for @Yup but I don’t think the majority should automatically rule in all areas. You’re right that would not be smart. But taking Funcom as an example, if they were to make changes to their games based on community feedback, then that feedback should represent the majority of the community. Not special interest groups like only locust alphas, duel server PvPers, only solo players, or whatever.

Anyway time for me to take a break from the forums for a bit. They are strong medicine. I come here to check up on things like news of updates, and then I get sucked in reading everything. And I’ve noticed that the more time I spend on the forums, the less I enjoy the game! I start to feel like it has lots of faults and the players are hostile to one another. But if I’m not reading the forums too much the game seems fine and so do the players. It’s interesting. Sorry I have nothing to say about the actual topic. It’s just a game, I’m happy to wait and see how it turns out in the end.

It’s not an agenda to not have agendas. It’s an agenda to have everyone’s agendas equally heard without tricks or influence.

So my question is, if banning doesn’t even work why do it? It seems to me people who don’t know and/or don’t care aren’t going to respond well to it - as you say, they’ll just repeat it till FC bans them permanently. And people who try not to violate but just mess up are going to be really offended - as you may have noticed. It’s an action that is not justifiable by most people’s standards and experience and so comes as an unexpected shock leaving a lot of people with a really bitter disposition against Funcom.

I dunno if things have changed or not since you joined our conversations here, but it was the case that bans were NOT just a “useful tool” occasionally used but were implemented in every or almost every instance. I for one am very interested to know if that has changed in any significant degree and if not I know I’m not the only person who would appreciate hearing the rational behind these actions.

Well, most of us do indeed appreciate it and are thankful for the efforts you have demonstrated so far. So, if no one else is going to say it, I will: Thank you! Keep up the good work!

Looking forward to it! Thanks again! And see ya in the funny papers…

I will try to help u with rules of building

  1. Build what u want and how u want, but dont build buildings that harassing others
  2. If u build mega - then dont build cubes and sandstone foundations
  3. Always think how others will be able to pass
  4. Do not block any point of interest.

Now Examples of buildings

Do not build like this –

( there this player builded wall all around violet lake and placed SPIKES all around so nobody was able to go to grave …)

( this ‘‘thing’’ to not swear by one player who got teared down 2 damn times and he still build same style but not so big anymore, was placed on siptah, straight line from ocean on north side till elephant graveyard, caused crash each time u was near )

( This castle was actually looking good, but placed on point of interest and lore , and if u climb it u fall to death, if u are not lucky enough to somehow manage to fall in water by sliding …)

( this one was start tho… i hoped maybe turns out to be good looking base, ended up in cube house, and this place was ‘‘market’’ to players who was online 1 time in week and mostly u was not able to normally drag knocked out npc out of docks… to main land , u could but well u needed to swim most times)

( this one - 1 guy by night walled out mini clan who left that server with me he builded like maniac with sandstone only and when asked in chat he claims he dont care )

( this maaaybe is ok but well it was not ok when this screen was taken - he builded into surge drop zone and walled all around by spikes - i mean if u build in PVE to prevent others reach actual event it is bannable…)

This is newest stuff, i found of how in my opinion u dont build, look close, he builded gate in passage between cliffs that lead to baywatch in siptah and placed spikes so others cant reach it…

and last one is well i dunno if i even can place this there now… because it contains now kinda how to explain i will try to add it in censore…
Screenshot_20
If u start to build like this - its permanent ban from funcom… ( this picture dunno if still - when i found it i reported and left that server for good… was in official server that is ENGLISH but based in russia)

Well and now examples of how u should build and not preventing others to build

Go there and check up
As for me - i try always add what i build so others can see if because of some ‘‘smart troll’’ i get deleted… and also i try to screen others who build nice and cute and big and beautifull …

So what i try to say with all this

There should be limit yes but u cant basically now even think of banning because someone builds bridges or beautiful castles up mountain and helping others…
