Do Funcom actually provide support?

When I need help Funcom just point me to this forum. Do they actually provide support or help for this game or am I delusional.

Short answer is NO

The only support Funcom will provide is for store purchases, or their servers. On their servers they only provide support if the server needs to be restarted or if you need to report someone. Everything else you are on your own to work out.

Every single problem that is related to support in terms of individual problems that one might have, at least with Conan Exiles and Age of Conan, I always could count with the nicest answers and the quickest resolutions.

We have to know that Customer Support does not solve technical problems, just inform them, so Support is not responsible for the solution of bugs, problems with the game itself, or problems with systems and so on.

They are only to solve problems with accounts, things they can set by system, and offering “restoration” or case by case “exceptions”.

I might be “biased” because I worked for almost a decade in HP, Motorolla Support and I worked with handling training for support staff. But still, it is a fact that support staff often gets the heat for problems they are not responsible and cant solve.

Yes that is all fine and true. However to receive customer support you first have to be able to contact them.

Just follow the link or google “Funcom support system”.

I have been banned from this forums twice, one for pointing out certain “not so smart” codes, and one for making fun of the “bug fixing process”.

I would be the last person to make a point of something in regard of funcom efficiency if it wasnt the case, trust me.

I never got a single answer from them. They simply ignore users, that’s why I don’t spend a single cent nor my time in this game anymore.

Yes, but the resources are covering Dune, atm.

People love to make assumptions they have no clue about …

Sounds realistic. When they accidentally banned everyone in December, their customer support reacted pretty quickly to fix things.

We know they also operate on the servers, punishing perceived rule-breakers. What we don’t see is whether there’s any consistency in their action because they’re not being transparent about the procedures.

What else is there that we’d need support for? Feedback and bug reports can be done using this forum.

The reason you see threads like this is because due to the fact FC provides a few servers, players think this game runs like a MMORPG. Where they would do item reimbursements for bugs during say major questlines or other events that could stymie up progression.

The issue with CE is its not a MMORPG. There is no MSQ or other major questlines (there’s no quests in the MMORPG sense). It plays more like Minecraft or Space Engineers where if you lose something, you just dig/loot some more. And the venue of online play is connecting to or hosting a random server.

CE is not a game that really warrants indepth online support. When playing the vanilla game, equipment and loot comes and goes so fast, that it would be an utter waste of time. I remember when I did do server admin work, my rule of thumb was to tell the players that if they had an issue and needed an item reimbursed, the item in question better take longer to replace by normal gameplay than by me logging in and doing it via admin. I remember someone would lose something simple like a few foundations or a iron tier weapon and ask to have it reimbursed and I’d say no, they could craft that stuff in the time it took me to login and verify.

Usually reimbursing materials I wouldn’t even do unless they lost like a vault of stuff or similarly large number of goods. But most of the reimbursement was for quest items and the like since usually we had some sort of quest NPC to actually offer that MMORPG experience. But that was something unique to the server. And sometimes logic on the NPCs wouldn’t account for something and a variable needed to be reset or a unique non-vanilla item needed to be restored.

So even without the volume of requests that there would be for item reimbursement, I can see FC’s reasoning for their stance against reimbursing items. There’s just no need for it in CE. Especially in vanilla settings. There’s not much a player can lose that can’t be replaced in a few sessions. I know people say in the past they’ve lost buildings and others things that took them months or years to obtain. But let’s be realistic. That’s stuff they obtained over that time. It didn’t take them that long to obtain it in total. If you think about your buildings and loot. If you had to regather everything to build it again, it wouldn’t take that long to do. Assuming you lost literally everything. In reality it isn’t reobtaining the items that is the problem for most players. Its the sentimental value and attachment that is hurting them. And no admin can repair that.
